About Todd Dosch

We have been happily married almost 34 years and have two beautiful children that are also happily married and mean everything to us along with our beautiful and joyful Grandchildren! We grew up in Southwest Wisconsin but have been living in Minnesota for 30 years. We've been on East Rush Lake for 10 years and absolutely love it and have made numerous, wonderful friends on the lake. Friends and family mean the world to us and sharing time on the lake has created special memories we will cherish forever! We have hosted bachelor parties, a bachelorette party, a special engagement, many July 4th family gatherings, and yearly college volleyball retreats as well as family reunions. Friends and family are everything! We are also very involved in our church and chair the annual Lenten fish fries and co-chair the Church Fall Festival. Todd loves to hunt and fish and anything outdoors and I love the outdoors as well, walking, scrapbooking, bowling, golf and most of all, spending time with our children and their families and especially our beautiful grandchildren!

Why Todd Dosch chose Chisago City

We have always hoped to live on a lake and our dream came true 10 years ago. We both grew up in a small community and Rush City offers the same small community amenities. To wake up to the beautiful lake every morning is so refreshing and soothing and to retire at the end of the day to beautiful sunsets throughout the years have been treasured dearly. We couldn't ask for better neighbors and all the lake fun has been incredible. The fun boat tie ups together to end our weekends on the lake have been relaxing and we both enjoy fishing which is a nice time to get away in the boat and relax. We love to entertain and share what we have with others! The friendships we have made are priceless!

What makes this house unique

We love our home because we built it with lots of love and hard work. It is a dream come true to be able to wake up within the comforts of our beautiful handiwork overlooking a soothing, lakefront!

Amazing lake getaway

  • 5 of 5

This is a beautiful property right on the lake with great views, a spacious and well kept yard and the pictures don't do it justice. There were 8 adults and 3 children and there was plenty of room for all of us to stay comfortably. We've stayed in 15 different VRBOs around the country and this was by far the best one we've ever stayed in. The Man cave in the basement with the surround sound, flat screen, pool table and bar along with the firepit and dock out back made for a great place to relax and enjoy a week with family. Thanks to Todd for sharing his beautiful home and for all the help making it such a great reunion weekend for all of us.

Beautiful house with stunning lake views

  • 5 of 5

This is a beautiful house with a huge open kitchen, and large common areas for groups to gather and enjoy themselves on the lake. The pictures don't do it justice, it is a stunning house with comfortable furnishings and attractive décor. We rented the pontoon for a couple days and highly recommend that. Sunsets on the lake are gorgeous every evening, easily viewed from the large patio. There was ample seating both inside and outside for dining and relaxing, no need to bring your own lawn chairs. Todd and Julie even supplied metal marshmallow roasting skewers for the fire pit.

Note that this house is best enjoyed by people without any mobility issues, my 90 year old mother struggled with the steep staircases and multiple steps outside, a few without hand rails, and the bedrooms on both floors are on the opposite side of the house from the bathrooms. The lower level was quite chilly during our stay, but if the temperatures outside were more normal August temps (highs were usually in the 70's during our stay) we would have appreciated that.

The fishermen in our group enjoyed some success including a 36 inch Northern; the kids had a blast catching small sunfish from the dock. Unfortunately the lake water was quite green but that is true of most Minnesota lakes in August. Don't forget your bottled water for drinking, as the tap water has a strong smell (the kitchen does have filtered water).

Thank you to Todd and Julie for sharing your amazing home with us, it was a great setting for our family reunion.

Amazing house!

  • 5 of 5

We rented this house for a girls' weekend in early January. The temps were freezing outside, but that didn't affect our enjoyment of the house! There were plenty of beds for everyone, two living/entertainment areas, a huge open kitchen with all of the modern amenities, and it was very conveniently located less than an hour north of the twin cities metro. We really appreciated the well-stocked kitchen, the Wi-Fi, and the satellite TV (which we only used for the music channels). We rent houses for our getaways each year, and I'm very certain that we'll be back to this one. Thanks so much!

We had a girls weekend here and it was perfect! The home is beautiful and comfortably fits a big group. The view of the lake is outstanding! We enjoyed the spacious back deck for dining and hanging outdoors, overlooking the lake. Communication with the owners was timely and informative, they are very accommodating. Highly recommend this place!

Girls' Trip Perfection!

  • 5 of 5

We had our annual girls' trip here, with most of us flying in from California to visit a friend that moved to MN. This "cabin" exceeded our expectations in every area. I say "cabin" because this was more of a well loved home rather than a cabin rental. Plenty of space, clean, well stocked (yea for the Cards Against Humanity game that we found downstairs!), and beds for everyone. The outdoor patio areas are gorgeous for happy hour and the pontoon boat is a must do! The owners were attentive, and when they had to go out of town on an emergency and couldn't show us how to run the boat, their neighbor cruised on over to help us out, and even invited us to happy hour at his house later that day! Great trip...I highly recommend this cabin.

Nearly Perfect (with one exception)

  • 4 of 5

This house was nearly perfect for our family gathering of 6 adults and 8 teenagers. All the kids slept downstairs and the adults slept in the 3 bedrooms on the main floor. The king master bedroom with the en suite bathroom was awesome and very spacious! The other two bedrooms were rather small; 1 with a queen bed, the other with 2 twins. The couples in the two smaller bedrooms shared a bathroom that was located through the living room on the other end of the house.

The main level has an open floor plan that features a living area with a huge HDTV, a large dining area, and well-appointed kitchen. The tap water had a strong sulphur smell, however, we knew that in advance and brought plenty of bottled water. The kitchen has a purified water tap for cooking. The upper outside deck has gorgeous unobstructed views of the lake. There are tables and plenty of chairs for outside dining and gathering. The backyard is beautifully landscaped. The boat dock has stairs into the water for easy access. The lake is only 2-3 feet deep at the dock and the bottom is firm and sandy; the water was warm but green with zero visibility. There were no ski boats or jet skis, on the lake, so it was very calm and peaceful. We rented the owner’s pontoon boat for the week and highly recommend it.

The week was nearly perfect except for a catastrophic first day. That morning breaker the refrigerator tripped and when we went down to reset it, we discovered that the septic tank had backed into the basement. The owner was out of town and unable to remedy the situation, so we spent the best part of the day moving the owners belongings to a dry area, vacuuming up water with shop vac & moving the water-soaked rugs to the outside. We waiting nearly 4 hours for the plumber, during which time no one could take a shower and we had to use an offsite bathroom. For our heroic efforts (and sacrificing nearly the entire 1st day of our vacation), the owners thanked us with a $100 rebate. Considering we were paying $528 per day for the house, plus an additional $130 for a cleaning fee, their token of appreciation didn’t quite seem equitable, but it was better than nothing.

Overall we thoroughly enjoyed our week and would rent this house again and pray there were no plumbing issues to mar the experience.

Owner's Response: Coleman Family, We are very sorry about the sewer problem you encountered on your first day at our lake home. We are actually on a city sewer system that never has any problems, unless you plan a weekend away and then that is when something happens. Thanks goodness we have good plumbers in the area that will come out on a Saturday afternoon and take care of problems. I do truly appreciate the way this family pitched in and made the best out of a bad situation. They treated it like they owned the house and did what they thought was necessary, which I hope all people do when they come and stay at our lake home. It's something that I don't expect to that extreme but truly did appreciate. We do have staff on call even when we are occasionally out of town to handle any emergencies. Thanks again and please do come see us again. Todd Dosch
