Stancombe Manor is a small hamlet of properties set within 21 acres of an idyllic Devon valley in the heart of the beautiful South Hams between Salcombe and Dartmouth. This area is best known for its peaceful rolling countryside, outstanding coastal walks and beautiful beaches. The original stone buildings of the Stancombe Estate have been converted into holiday accommodation. There are eight stone-built cottages that make up the beautifully converted Tythe Barn. Snowdrop is positioned on the 1st floor of the Tythe Barn and has one double bedroom, one twin bedroom plus a wall hung cupboard housing a full double bed. There is also room for a fold-up bed in the twin room. Facilities on the Estate include an indoor heated swimming pool, full size wood panelled snooker room, games room, tennis court, pitch and putt and outdoor play area which makes this an ideal year round holiday destination. Rated by English Tourist Board - 4 Stars.

Quite & Peaceful HideAway

We enjoyed our time in Devon, UK. The cute little towns of Kingsbridge and Totnes, the desolate plains of Dartmoor, the interesting Eden Project and the hills around the Salcombe Manor.

We summarized the plusses/minuses:

+ Game room/Table tennis

+ The swimming pool

+ Apartment fully equiped

- WiFi and connection not existing/bad

- Quite remote location; it takes a longtime to go somewhere

- Quite unpersonalized... e.g. getting the key via a small key-safe near the door (so no need to get the key e.g. via caretaker etc)

Damp in bedroom, apartment tired looking and in need of some attention

The site was lovely. The tennis courts were great. Listing didn't say that this apartment was right next to the games room - very noisy with kids running up and down all times of the day. The apartment was very tired looking. It smelt damp on entry. We were astonished to see black mold growing on the bedroom wall! It is obviously a known problem as there is a dehumidifier in the bedroom, which was PAT tested early in 2017. The carpets could do with a clean, but honestly don't look like they would survive a clean, as they are frayed around the edges of the rooms, and hardly reach the walls anymore.

We would recommend the site, but not this apartment, we felt that charging top end rental to sleep with mold next to our heads, just not value for money. Very disappointed.

Lovely apartment in a great location

This was a lovely apartment with 2 good sized bedrooms and a really nice living room/kitchen. Great facilities on site with the pool and games room for the wet days and the tennis court and grounds for the sunny days. The location is great with easy access to Kingsbridge, Salcome and some lovely beaches.

Will definitely be returning here next year.

Lovely apartment in a great setting. Pool in good condition and vast, although a wee bit chilly for my young ones. Some more cleaning products in the apartment would have been useful, and the windows need upgrading as got incredibly steamed up most of the time. Overall, very content.
