This open-concept furnished apartment offers a lot of natural light, a roomy and stylishly decorated interior. The unity sleeps comfortably four persons. It has a queen-size bed and a sectional couch with an integrated sleeper queen-size bed. The contemporary European-style kitchen is fully-equipped, with a modular island and modern stove and cooktop. The Unity building is located on a quiet street, in front of St-Patrick Park and the St-Patrick basilica. It is located a few steps from the Square Victoria metro/subway station, the boardwalk along the river in Montreal’s historic Old Port (De la Commune Promenade), the Quartier des spectacles - Montreal's premiere entertainment district featuring concerts, cultural events, festivals, and exhibits) -, Montreal’s renowned Victoria Square, Place Bonaventure, Complex Desjardins, the Eaton Center, and Place Ville Marie.
Tariq’s rental was in a great location. It was close to a metro station (Victoria OACI) and downtown. The rental was exactly as pictured, so what you see is what you get. Upon first glance the unit appeared clean, and the bed was cozy. The property was equipped with the essentials required for cooking and laundering, and included an iron and hairdryer.
Now for the negatives….
**Although renting properties is certainly a business affair, Tariq does not take a business approach to renting this property. He was quick to accept payment when the booking request was made, however not as quick to reply to emails. It took 4 days and a follow-up email using the VRBO messaging pathway for him to respond to my inquiry regarding check-in/out times.
**The fridge was filthy, and the grime certainly could not have built up over the term of the previous short-term rental. No, the grime was definitely older, likely built up over several rentals. He did however clean the fridge after we requested. The oven filth however was not noticed until the next day and by then I had grown apathetic towards contacting Tariq to have him come back for additional cleaning. I question if Tariq realizes that the appliances are part of the appeal of renting privately owned properties, and should be cleaned before and after EVERY rental. Further, this has also been mentioned in a previous review a couple months ago and is still not a priority for Tariq.
**The toilet flush was very weak, sometimes taking 3 flushes to clear the contents.
**At the time of writing this review a full-length mirror was absent from the rental. Personally, I like to have a full glance at my attire before leaving for a day/evening out, as I suspect many do. This has also been mentioned in a previous review a couple months ago and is still not a priority for Tariq.
Tariq keeps this rental unit strictly for income generation but fails to see that monetary and time investments in his property will increase customer satisfaction. Just like any business, when an owner fails to reinvest into it consistently, they are showing a lack of concern for their customers.
The condo is clean and efficient, and Tariq is a wonderful host. Location is perfect for touring Montreal. Walking distance to Old Montreal, museums, China Town, McGill University, shopping and restaurants. We visited during Jazz Festival and were within short walking distance of 6 venues, able to watch live performances at each night. We highly recommend this property and Tariq. Thanks for allowing us your property, it made for a wonderful vacation!
Tariq was very friendly and met me at the door to the building when I got there. His place was beautiful, large and fully appointed with everything one needs to enjoy a great stay. The bathroom mirror was a bit high but not a problem for me as I am taller. To make up for this, there is a smaller bathroom mirror on the wall. A full length mirror on the door or elsewhere in the condo would also help. The bed was comfortable and my son experienced a comfortable mattress on the pull out sofa as well. The location couldn't be better; not much noise outside, and within a block to the metro and shopping areas. The only thing I didn't like much was the lingering smell of old smoke when you walk into the condo after being out. You couldn't smell it after a few minutes but obviously someone had smoked in the unit previously. Despite this, I had a wonderful stay and would love to stay there again if ever in Montreal!
When you walk in the place is exactly like the pictures. Easy to find place.Tariq was on time to meet us and show us the place. Parking was close by. Close to shopping and entertainment. Kitchen was well equipped with pots and pans and also enough glasses and plates and cultelry. Breville expresso machine was great. No noise at night time very quiet. Only problems is the fridge and also the oven were dirty and also toilet did not flush properly.
Tariq was fabulous, very accommodating. The loft was lovely, very quiet building. Great location, handy to the METRO and walking distance to the Eaton's center. Will stay again.
We had a great time staying in this well-located apartment. Tariq was very helpful and everything went smoothly. I would highly recommend this rental- good value, great location lovely place.
Thanks Tariq- we will be back!
