About Nancy Thurston
My husband and I have always vacationed on the Oregon Coast. Our favorite town each visit was Newport. We decided to buy a home there in anticipation of using it as our retirement home. We fell in love with this house and enjoy having a place we can call home in Newport. I am in Real Estate and my husband is in Business Intelligence. We enjoy the outdoors, cooking, entertaining and travel. It has been fun putting our beach home together and making it our home away from home.
Nancy Thurston purchased this House in 2014
Why Nancy Thurston chose Newport
As my husband and I searched for the 'right' house to buy in Newport we kept coming back to this one as our favorite. This home had so many windows and let in so much light that I felt like I was outside. The deck gives us a view of the Yaquina Bay and a place to BBQ. We really like to cook and entertain so a good sized kitchen was a must. This home is a great floor plan for entertaining groups. There is room to get away from each other or gather all together. The windows let in so much light and allow you to watch the weather when it rains. If you watch outside you often see Blue Jays in the yard and an occasional Hummingbird The open floor plan is great for groups. We like having a 2 story house so if some want to sleep while others want to play, the bedrooms are downstairs and the family, living room and kitchen are upstairs. You can see the Bay from our deck and you can enjoy the Rhododendrons in the spring, they are huge!
What makes this House unique
Because we love to cook the kitchen is very well stocked complete with many spices and a good assortment of condiments. If you are a lover of Italian we have a fresh pasta maker, along with lots of pots, pans, utensils and knives so you can make whatever you like. If you get the chance to go crabbing, Newport is the Dungeness Crab Capital of the world! The house also has a washer and dryer for your convenience and there are extra linens and towels if you need them. There is a flat screen T.V. with surround sound and a DVR with lots of recorded movies to choose from for your enjoyment. We also have an assortment of cards, games, books and jigsaw puzzles to keep you entertained while you visit.

Wonderful Family Beach Weekend!
My family had such a wonderful stay at Nancy's property in Newport! The house was perfect for our group (me and my husband, my mom, my younger brother and his girlfriend, and my older brother). It was spacious and clean and the open kitchen and family room layout was perfect. We even completed a puzzle together throughout the weekend which my mom thoroughly enjoyed :-). My brother proposed to his girlfriend on Nye Beach on this trip and we celebrated with the delicious bottle of wine that Nancy provided! Such a memorable stay.
Thank you for the wonderful comments. We want everyone to have the kind of experience you and your family had! Thank you for the high praise. Please come and stay with us again.
Loved everything about this house and where it was located
Perfect place to stay 🙌🏻😍♥️
Amazing location & beautiful home.
I will be coming back again & again. It is just a couple blocks from Bay Blvd. I suggest to walk to see all the plant life that the coast has to offer. You can hear the Sea Lion's from the property, the backyard is perfect for bonfires & so many windows to bring in the natural light. The house has so many nice little perks. I wish I could've stayed longer. Can't wait to be back because it's the PERFECT get away.
Great location and house!
We wanted to be in Newport but not right on the beach. We wanted to be where the action is! This house was perfectly located. We could walk to Bay Street to stroll and eat. It’s just a few minutes drive to coast street and to the beach it’s self. We were traveling with grandparents parents and four children and the house was perfect! I’ll bedrooms were together on the first floor and the living area Upstairs was a homey and perfect and had room for everyone. I whole family was delighted. Nancy was great to work with and very responsive and helpful.
Space for fun and relaxation
We rented this home for a girls weekend - we set up to sew quilts. We used the huge dining room table for five of us to quilt all weekend. Wonderful natural lighting, evening time we had to bring in a few more lamps. Fun!!
The kitchen and pantry are very well stocked. The living room is large and there is a lot of space for big groups to spread out - or stay together.
The owner was very responsive and a great communicator. I felt like if we needed anything she'd be able to help. We certainly would rent this home again.
Thanks for the nice remarks. So glad you quilters enjoyed your stay. Please come and do it again sometime!
Nice location and loved the set up of the house. Nice bedrooms with extra rooms that made it nice for people to do different things at the same time. We would be interested at staying again next year.
Glad you enjoyed the house! We love it too and would be happy to have you return!

Devil’s Punch Bowl State Park- This is an incredible view... you don't get to walk down to it. You observe from the top. It used to be a cave and the top fell in... absolutely amazing to look at. There is a walk way that takes you around for a view of the ocean to the south that you see surfers. There are also tables to have a nice lunch with an awesome view. Great Wine shop there too!
Yaquina Bay Bridge- This bridge is deco and the detail used when constructing it is what is lacking today---flare. Don't miss the fact you can walk across the bridge at sunset or walk under the bridge from both sides. Take the drive toward Toledo at sunset or ride a bike, the light and sunset are amazing at that time.
Fisherman’s Memorial Sanctuary- Monument located in Yaquina Bay State Park that memorializes mariners who lost their lives at sea.
