Right on the lake! Heritage cottage, 825 sq. ft. Beautiful lake views, inside and out. Old-fashioned warmth and charm, located in a quiet lakefront neighborhood. Private 50' beach is a small but beautiful window onto majestic Lake Huron.
Located right on the lake, at the end of a long private driveway, with a woody area in between, (lot is 50' wide and 480' long), you're buffered from any road noise, and can just absorb the sound of the waves and the occasional foghorn from the freighters.
Sleeps 6, with 2 bedrooms, (1 w/queen, other w/full, and twin bunks on porch) 1 bath, kitchen, dining, living room with fireplace, and large screened porch facing the lake.
Brick patio with charcoal BBQ, wood swings and lots of plastic Adirondack chairs, make for a lovely place to grill and sit outside. 10 steps down to our lakeside firepit and patios, and then 10 steps and you're right on the beach.
Fully equipped kitchen, large dining table (great for board games!), cozy living room with fireplace and lake view, The Seadog is a serene little oasis for your 'place on the lake' this summer.
Halfway between Port Huron and Lexington, it's the perfect spot to be a short drive to many fun vacation spots like the Port Huron boardwalk and many parks, or the quaint village of Lexington with it's marina, restaurants, and unique shops. And then you can come back to the cottage and just relax....
Somewhat rustic, (as shown in photos), but this adds to it's nostalgic charm of a time when cards, popcorn, conversation, and then a bonfire under the stars was a "big deal", and a very pleasant break after the city life. Bring a guitar for a sing-a-long, and you'll think you're back at camp.... It's been in our family since 1924, and we hope you'll enjoy it as much as generations of the Jasnowski's have--
We provide linens (sheets), and 6 bath towels, and basic paper items. (See instructions or call for complete info). 6 person limit, 3 car limit, no fireworks, loud parties, RV's, tents, or trailers. Sorry, but no pets.
Phone us for more info or photos at 616-669-5187 anytime between 8am--10pm . We have a 3-night minimum, with 4 nights preferred for the 4 holidays of Memorial Day, 4th of July, Mackinaw race, and Labor Day.
Our golden "rule" is to enjoy yourselves! ! To respect our wonderful neighbors, and to leave the cottage "as you found it". We have professional cleaners come in before and after every stay, but basic "tidying up" is expected of guests. No comment or question is too small---- we love guests to contact us before or during a vacation about anything at all !
The property came into the Jasnowski family (from Detroit) as a gift from Mattie's sister, Ellen Petersen, in 1924, and a little cottage was built, added on to a bit; and a sister cottage, the Nymph, added later on in the 40's. They've been in the family ever since... I think my dad and grandpa would enjoy knowing that others can enjoy the happy, serene, getaway spot that they envisioned. Many people tell us they have a very peaceful time up there. Our lakefront cottage has been shared with a wonderful group of renters for over 20 years now (before the internet!) and we still love the "old-fashioned" feel, (and ok, we can't afford a total renovation either), so that is the niche we fulfill. We hope the Seadog can be your own little 'place on the lake' this summer!
owner/property manager Lisa Boss purchased this cottage in 1924
Uniquely old fashioned, the Seadog is close to Lexington (6 mi), close to Lakeport State Park (4 mi) and close to the gorgeous Port Huron water front and board walk (10 mi). Parks, boat rentals, restaurants, shopping, vineyards, U-Pick, Canadian casinos, and golf courses are all close by, yet the Seadog Cottage, is always there to return to, and just enjoy relaxing.
A nice place for a quiet vacation, and close to Detroit, Flint, Ann Arbor areas. I've been trying to hang on to this little piece of property for the feeling it provides of simple, old time pleasures, like being able to look out over such a beautiful stretch of the great lakes.
We stayed at Sea Dog August 31 thru September 4 2016. We had a nice time at this quaint rustic cottage and it was just what we expected. The property was well maintained and clean upon arrival. The view of the lake is spectacular. Nice private setting. Cottage had all the utensils you need for a comfortable stay. They have great neighbors nice to talk with. Great place for a bonfire on the beach. Nice location between Port Huron and Lexington. The owner Lisa Boss was a great communicator and responsive. We would recommend this property.
Thank you, Joel
We really loved Lisa's house. It was very comfortable and had everything we needed for the weekend. Sitting in the screened in sunporch was great, as was using the backyard swings or going down to the private beach. I would recommend her place to anyone, including families with young children — it was a very safe and enjoyable setup. Lisa was very communicative, and the cabin is well situated — private, wooded and quiet area but also very close to downtown Lexington and also only a few minutes' drive from the big grocery store, Barnes and Noble and other shopping. The only critique/warning I have is to be careful around the older/worn outlets. We had a power brick that seemed to burn out from one of those. I would suggest plugging more expensive items (or items you care about) into the newer three-pronged outlets that you can find around the house.
Our family has vacationed here for two years in a row and we love it! The cottage has everything you need without unnecessary extras. We live near Detroit so the drive is just over an hour yet you would think you were in northern Michigan. We've created some great memories here and can't wait to come back.
The Seadog provides a beautiful view of Lake Huron. The swings in the yard provided a wonderful addition to the property to allow for a relaxing time looking at the lake. The house nicely accommodated 6 people, providing the basics needed for a week long stay. The area is quiet and provides for a wonderful family experience. The owner was always available to answer questions before and during our stay. Lexington is a unique town with good restaurant options and a nearby playground and beach for children.
The owner was great to work with and charming. The property was an excellent location with a good beach set up for our kids and cousins to play. The community 4th of July fireworks were fabulous too.
Halfway between Lexington to the north, (6 mi)m and Port Huron to the south (10 mi), the area has lots of beachfront parks (esp. Lake Port State Park, 4 mi to the south), marinas, and golf courses. Lexington is a welcoming resort town offering free music in the park during the summer, restaurants, coffee shops, craft fairs, festivals, kayak rentals, live theater, and a beautiful marina.
Port Huron, home of the double Blue Water Bridge to Canada, houses many opportunities for fun trips too. There's Lighthouse Park, the amazing boardwalk along the St. Clair River running under the bridge, (the boardwalk is my main CAN'T MISS trip---- just to experience the freighters going through the channel as you walk along).
