Treat yourself to the 'Forgotten Coast' and experience Old Florida before it's gone. This home, only one block from the beach, has plenty of space for family and friends. Its light and airy kitchen is well stocked for enjoying meals at home with everything you could need. Utensils and microwave to a blender and coffee maker. You can choose to eat in the small or large dining area and then move to the spacious living room for movies, games or just hanging out. When you need some peace, retreat to the quiet Master bedroom where you'll find a king-size bed, private bath and your own tv where you can pick the channel. Guests can choose from a queen room or a twin room (2 beds), both of which also have their own televisions and are convenient to the guest bath. A covered deck overlooking a large fenced backyard is a great place to grill and watch the kids play. If you need to park a boat or RV, well there's plenty of room for that too.
Activities near home include jogging, biking, loading the golf cart with chairs and umbrella for a day on the beach, combing the shore for shells, or a sunset stroll on the beach is always a favorite!
Nearby activities include fishing, boating, golf, and horse back riding on Cape San Blas.In Port St Joe visit the Historic Light House, Constitution Park, and Historic Apalachicola is a short drive east. Dining out is always a delight with several fabulous restaurants in Port St. Joe and the famous oyster capital of Apalachicola only a short drive away.
St. Joe Beach is a dedicated beach with no high-rise buildings. The beach is beautiful white sand and clean clear water. Very seldom does the water have any riptide due to the protection of Cape San Blas. Guests love walking dogs and building campfires on the beach... something you just can't do on other beaches. That's the 'Old Florida' way. Come experience it for yourself.
We live in Montgomery, Alabama and fell in love with this place on our first trip.
Ronny & Lynda Crocker purchased this house in 2007
We chose this property because it is clean, the lot is spacious at 1 1/2 lots wide, it is a quiet area with neighborhood streets to walk and ride bikes.
This property has palm trees and looks like the Old Florida that we remember as children.
OMG,OMG!!! We absolutely enjoyed our stay. The owners were so helpful and kind. The house was very nice and we all felt right at home. Beautiful beaches too!
Thank you very much for sharing your home with us, perfect for everyone.
It was awesome. Clean, comfortable and homey. We were there for 5 nights. Plenty of room for 4 adults and 1 child. We flew in from CA and met friends who are local (they stayed at their own home) as well as another family who drove down from Maryland. There were (limited) toys in the bedroom for the kids to play with and TV's in all bedrooms and in the living room. The coffeepot is amazing and we are picky about our coffee. There was a blender, every kitchen appliance and utensil we could have wanted and there were even several coolers and ice packs for us to use! Plenty of towels, extra blankets and space to spread out and relax. The back deck is awesome with lots of chairs for the grownups and run around space in the fenced backyard for the youngsters. The bed in the master bedroom is like a Sleep Number where you can adjust the mattress!!! We were two easily walkable blocks from the beach which is very calm and quiet without a million tourists. The grill was awesome and easy to use. We decided against bringing our elderly dog at the last minute and left him with "grandma" but it would have been comfortable for him too. The air conditioner and fans work well to keep the home cool (as we were here in June and it was quite hot and humid outside). There is closet space, hangers and even a dog bed! The owners were very communicative and answered messages and emails promptly. The wifi was fast and there was plenty of information left for local attractions. There was even a conveniently-placed hose outside to wash the sand off before going inside (it sticks to EVERYTHING). Suggestions would be to make sure you bring or buy a shaded shelter or umbrella for the beach (Walmart and Target are an hour away in Panama City for flyers and Dollar General is pretty close for drivers) because you will need it. You will also need beach chairs and beach toys if you use them so plan to bring with you or purchase. We had a BLAST and we will be back (usually every other year but we are considering next summer because it was so much fun!) Thank you very much Ronny and Lynda :) Shawn, Dee, Taffy, Robert and Addison :)
Oh what a nice place to stay, just a block and a half from the beautiful beach and the pristine waters of the Gulf. Our visit was for five nights in mid-February and we truly enjoyed this property. It was just the two of us and our dog so we barely used all the features of this three bedroom property. The house was as neat and clean as pin with all the extras you could want. Lots of nice towels for the bathrooms and a great kitchen with everything you would need to make great meals. Because we were traveling with our dog we had many of our diners at the rental. We even used the gas grill that is next to the rear deck for steaks one night and it worked well for our needs.
We visited the towns of Mexico Beach, Port St. Joe and Apalachicola. All three towns have great shopping and eatery choices. We really enjoyed the Indiana Pass Raw Bar that’s on the highway near the Cape San Blas turn off. We also loved the food at Shipwrecks restaurant which is just a block from the house. If you enjoy craft beer there is a good local brewery, Oyster City Brewery, in Apalachicola.
If you are traveling with your pet you will like the fact that the beaches of Gulf County, where the house is located, are pet friendly. We walked the beach every day with our dog and loved it. You can even have campfires on the beaches of Gulf County which is really neat. We also learned that a section of the beach northwest of Mexico Beach was also pet friendly.
The house is a little bit dated, but nice. We loved it; it was our kind of place. It is furnished well and has plenty of seating for a large group and lots of room to move around. The back yard is completely fence and was great for the dog to have some time to herself. We would definitely rent again from the Crocker’s and recommend it to others looking to visit the area. The rental process was easy and a good value.
lovely property and very relaxing! Close walk for the beach and great nearby restaurants! Guest bathroom door was broken when we arrived, so unable to close for privacy. Other than that we enjoyed every minute!
This home is comfortable, clean, and perfect for a relaxing getaway. The kitchen had everything we needed to prepare and serve meals, the beds were very comfortable, and the fenced yard, deck, and grill gave us more opportunity to enjoy outside with the dog after coming back from the beach. The location of the home offered easy access to the beach (a one block walk) as well as to shopping and eating in both Port St. Joe and Mexico Beach (both about a ten minute drive). The owners left information about things to do and places to eat...they thought of everything and were incredibly helpful as we planned our trip. Can't wait to go back!
Be at the water for the most stunning sunsets. Take dinner with you. The City Park in Port St Joe has many walking paths. Dinner at Sunset Grill, next to the park, has excellent dining.
