A Touch of Heaven at Buckhannon River Cottage

  • 5 of 5

What a memorable week of family vacation!!!!!!!!! The house was very nice and accommodating with a well-stocked kitchen (just make sure the refrigerator door is pushed shut tight :) Lannette was prompt in answering questions, neighbors Butch & Connie and Ed & Sandy, and George's EMT Brother (sorry, we forget his first name) were super nice and hospitable!! The Grandchildren enjoyed playing in the low river and under the deck with all the toys! If you're into 4-wheeling, this is the place to go; and if the saying 'you're not having fun unless someone gets hurt' is true then this family had a ton of fun!!!!! The local Emergency Personnel are superb; from experience, we know!! Despite the major injuries, our family enjoyed a wonderful week together and look forward to sometime going back again!!!!!!!!! We encourage other families as well to go to Buckhannon River cottage for a special family time together!! And, make sure you visit the Sugar Shack! Thank you, George & Lannette, for sharing your delightful cottage with others!! God's Blessings on ALL!!! .........The Shelly Family

Wonderful!

  • 5 of 5

We loved our stay at the house. The open floor plan was perfect for all 10 of us to visit. The kitchen was well equipped for us to make a big dinner Saturday night. It was so warm we ate dinner outside. All of us could fit around the large deck table. Ir was most impressed with how quiet the rooms were. Some members of our group snore loudly and I couldn't hear any of them during the night! The sheets, towels, and blankets were of good quality and smelled fresh. It was all the comforts of home.

Since we were visiting our son at West Virginia Wesleyan, we spent most of our time at the campus and driving back and forth to Buckhannon. The trip took about half an hour one way. The roads were windy and we saw lots of deer. Even though it was far, it was so much more fun than a hotel. It was a fantastic trip!

The Home is beautiful. More then a person needs. Luxary in the country.

  • 4 of 5

My boys and I had a great time. It was a great get away. Environment was perfect. Very Clean. I would recommend to my friends with dogs. We enjoyed the golfing and fishing in the area.

Note: We did not like the dogs that ran lose. Twice when we were outside by fire they came over. And late at night and early morning they would bark. as you are a wear we were looking for quiet getaway due to sons illness. And the morning we left, I went outside to put stuff in truck and there were four dogs next to my truck that startled me at 5:30 am.

Family reunion get together...

  • 5 of 5

We were all truly impressed with your beautiful home. Everything was there that we needed to prepare for our family reunion. There was plenty of cooking utensils and all the spices that we forgot to bring available and saved us a trip back to Walmart. I will always remember this beautiful place. The only downfall was, we didn't get to stay longer. Thanks to butch and Connie for welcoming us and making sure we were comfortable. We hope to visit again real soon.

Beautiful house on a beautiful river

  • 5 of 5

We had two families staying in the house for a fun getaway. The house was fully stocked with everything you could possibly need! Make sure you have good printed out directions before you go. We couldn't get any cell service or Internet connection while we are there so make sure you print out your directions ahead of time. House was very clean!!

Very nice and remote home on the river

  • 4 of 5

The cabin is very nice and had all the amenities required. It was great for our group of ten, including three grand kids, 9 and under. One adult couple did need to share a room with the kids. We did bring a coffee maker with us, rather than use the provided Kuerig. The river came up about a foot while we were there, providing a better flow for floating down the river in the inner tubes. The water was great and we spent time in the river every day. There were a few inner tubes at the cottage, as well as several bicycles. We could not locate a working air pump. Might want to throw one in the car. It would be a great place to bring your ATV or side by side. We saw too many critters to keep track. The only downside to the location, is it is quite a drive, if your plan is to use it as a base for visiting the many sites to see in WV. Sat TV, and email ok. Cell service was spotty, at best. Don't skip the Sugar Shack Bakery. About two miles before your reach Ten Mile Road, turn right on Laurel Run Road. Follow the signs. It is only a short ways. Nadene is a peach of a lady. Caution: Ten Mile Road is blacktop, but very narrow. Please watch out for deer and heavy trucks. More deer, but the trucks will hurt you worse.
