Overview

About the property

Cottage in Port Isaac, Cornwall, England - The Property Sleeps 8 In 4 Bedrooms

Geranium Cottage is truly lovely and placed in a perfect position in the heart of this historic village, away from the hustle, but moments from the little harbour, with it's lovely pub and restaurants and Port. The double-fronted cottage was built in 1760 and has 2 ft thick whitewashed walls. As you enter the cottage, you have an open-plan kitchen and dining area which has slate floors and beamed ceilings, a farmhouse table which seats 8 on one side...and a large cosy sitting room with sofa's and a log burner, with TV and video on the the other side.

Up the windy staircase there is 1 double bedroom (with TV) a twin room, a pretty bunk-bed room and a family bathroom. The top floor has a master bedroom with super-king-size bed, (with TV) an en-suite shower room, and lovely views of the village. There is a little courtyard to the front of the property which has the sun all day, room for a BBQ and table and chairs. At the end of the narrow lane is the Nathan Outlaw's Tapas restaurant, the lovely pub, several other restaurants and the Port.

About Helen Phelps-Palmer

We decided we wanted the perfect 'get-away' cottage to escape the hustle and bustle of life, a place where we would holiday with our children but also a place we would equally love going to on our own...and with our friends....in both summer and winter...and after looking for several years we stumbled upon Geranium Cottage and fell in love with it and with the charm of Port Isaac and everything that it and North Cornwall have to offer.

Why Helen Phelps-Palmer chose Port Isaac

We wanted a pretty little cottage that could fit a rather large family and a dog! Which proved quite a difficult task...especially when we had decided where we wanted that cottage to be....so when we were shown Geranium Cottage in Port Isaac, which had the 4 bedrooms.....and was pretty run down, so we could put our mark on it, we knew it was the right cottage for us. The property is in the perfect location in the village, as it is tucked away, but moments from the tiny harbour....and we love Nathan Outlaws tapas bar at the end of the road...what makes this place so special to us is that it is like coming to a different world, and each season is so different and forever changing ... when we are here we feel like we do have time to stand and stare....something which is more often than not missing from our normal lives! Our reviews for the cottage are fantastic, and in some ways possibly too fantastic, which seems a silly thing for us to say...what you will find is a truely lovely cottage, well kept, hopefully with everything you will need for a relaxing holiday in an original fisherman's cottage, in a unique village....and our aim is that our guests will love their stay here, as much as we do.

What makes this cottage unique

We have fantastic restaurants...the best you can eat in, with Nathan Outlaw's Tapas at the end of our street...and his Michelin Star restaurant at the top of the village....The Mote on the front, and the Krab Pot round the corner....to name but a few.... or you can have fresh fish, crab and lobster, from the Platt, caught that day which can be cooked for you if you want to eat at home....and there's also a great pub with fine ales! The Fisherman's Friends sing most Fridays during the summer on the Platt which is truly special. Geranium cottage is the perfect cottage in a great little working Port to enjoy North Cornwall from.

Utterly blissful in every way and exceeded all expectations!

  • 5 of 5

We absolutely loved this place, and could have happily stayed indefinitely! It’s a little slice of Port Isaac heaven tucked away, but less than a minute from everything. A wonderful, cosy and inviting cottage with all you ever need-dog blankets, beach towels, logs for the fire, twinkle lights everywhere (which we loved), candles, parking space....the list goes on and on! Can’t recommend it enough! Thank you so much for a wonderful week!!

Lovely home from Home cottage

  • 5 of 5

Loved staying here was sad to leave. Both the cleaner and the owner were really helpful with minor issues that we had. Beautiful cottage in the heart of the village, easy access to the port. Co-op and parking are a bit of climb, but that’s port Isaac! Felt very comfortable here and will be back again soon. -x-

Beautifully furnished and well equipped cottage in the heart of Port Isaac

  • 5 of 5

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay in Geranium Cottage which was so thoughtfully furnished throughout. Lovely touches and attention to detail meant that we loved coming back to the welcoming comfort after a day out exploring the area. It has the feeling of someone's much loved home rather than just another holiday let...the little messages from Helen / Jacqui add to this. We would highly recommend the property and indeed Port Isaac which manages to have just enough to appeal to visitors without becoming too commercialised. Lovely!

Fabulous, well furnished house.

  • 5 of 5

Two families of 4 had a great time here. We were very pleased with all the facilities and equipment - everything we needed was there and more. The super king bed in the attic was amazing! There was plenty of space for us all and it was nice and quiet away from the crowds in the village itself. We loved being able to potter about in Port Isaac and access the coastal footpaths - well worth it for fantastic views! We had a great meal at Nathan Outlaw's Fish Kitchen one night. Can thoroughly recommend. The allocated parking space was much appreciated and we soon got used to ferrying ourselves and our day packs/surfing equipment up the hill! Really loved our holiday. Many thanks.
