Our lovely home is located is the most desirable neighborhood for families in downtown Boulder, The Newlands. Its quiet location, easy layout, and breathtaking views are just a few of it's great features.
The garden is irrigated, and the house comes with a fun play structure w/slide & swing for your little ones. This home is family friendly, and we provide a pack n play crib for families traveling with a baby.
Another awesome feature of this house is it's proximity to Foothills Elementary. For families with elementary aged children, the school is about a block down the street, so far enough away to be totally undisturbed, but close enough that is is incredibly convenient.
Access to downtown's best hiking trails on Mount Sanitas are just a few blocks away, as are Ideal Market (a Whole Foods) and Lucky's Market & Bakehouse, which has excellent regular & gluten-free baked goods.
North Boulder Park is another wonderful feature of this neighborhood, with acres of grass, a ball field, public BBQs, and a playground with swings for children.
Pearl Street is an easy 5 minute drive or 20 min walk through the best streets in downtown Boulder. You'll enjoy the beautiful mix of all the new custom homes and charming historic houses while walking under the shade of majestic 100-150 year old trees through the neighborhood.
All 3 bedrooms are appointed with brand new pillow-top mattresses with natural bamboo ticking. There is 1 King bedroom, 1 Queen bedroom, and the third bedroom has 2 Twin beds.
The kitchen is fully outfitted for cooking meals with pots & pans, small kitchen appliances (blender, waffle maker, coffee maker, toaster, etc), kettle, mixing bowls, cooking utensils, baking dishes, serving dishes, measuring cups and spoons, etc. Dishes, flatware, glasses, mugs, tea pot, salt & pepper mills, creamer & sugar bowl, and placemats are also furnished.
The living room is super comfortable, and perfect for hanging out, watching TV, and taking in the views. It has a new Panasonic LED HDTV with Premium HD Cable including HBO and Apple TV, and secure high-speed internet.
Oliver is from New York City but grew up in Boulder while Whitney is from LA. We met at CU where we both graduated from the Film School. We enjoy travel, real estate, interior design, photography, cooking, gardening, hiking, biking, swimming, delicious restaurants, family, friends, and film!
The house was very plain, but clean and freshened. We enjoyed that back yard patio. The house has three bedrooms and two baths, but the two baths are in the hall, not connected to any of the three bedrooms. But we worked it out! The beds were comfortable with good linens. The walk to Pearl Street is about 30 minutes, 1.5 miles. Loved being able to make an easy walk to hikes. We would recommend this house!
This property owner accepted my reservation on March 15, 2016 for a July 1-6 reservation. The options available for this time of year, even looking in March, were very slim. One week before we were to arrive on July 1, 2016 this property owner cancelled our reservation leaving us in trouble. We had plane reservations for five people booked for this time period. I started looking for hotel rooms, none available. I looked for more options on VRBO, none available.
I would not trust this property owner to carry through with his commitment if you are looking to reserve this property.
Don't be put off by the number of stars: this spotlessly clean little house with the mountains at the end of the street is a great place to stay. It's got a lovely front garden and back yard, with a patio, gas grill and playset for kids, and you can see the Flatirons from the dining room table. You're just off Broadway for fast access to downtown, CU and I-36, and the house is down the road from Lucky's Market and Bakehouse and the excellent cash-only China Gourmet (we learned about these in the HomeAway listing for this property). However, everything is a little more complicated than you might expect. We love gas stoves, but this one needs to be updated. If you're not used to Nest heating and cooling, it can take a couple minutes to figure it out. Same with the Apple TV. The lower shelf in the dishwasher routinely goes off-track, taking a full load of dishes with it. On the up-side, Oliver is almost instantly responsive when there are maintainance issues, and we had a few. Everything you really need for a week or more is here -- just learn to love IKEA basic white. Bottom line: you should consider renting this house. We would again.
My family and I travel to Colorado every year during the winter. As native Floridians we like to experience the cold weather and snow for a few days. The Iris house was perfect for all of our needs. The beds were super comfy, towels and essential toiletries were well stocked, the kitchen and all the appliances came in handy. The stove was a little intimidating but super easy to use. The house is welcoming and we felt at home in no time. Overall we had a great time and will hopefully be staying in this home next year! We can't wait. Thank you!
My wife, daughter and 15 year-old granddaughter enjoyed 5 nights in this home during the holidays. Although we are quite familiar with Boulder, we didn't know this neighborhood well. It is, indeed, peaceful and lovely, ranging from modest, well kept homes to architectural stunners on the nearby Flatiron flanks. Of special interest to active folks, it is only a short walk to the trails leading to Boulder's iconic Mt. Sanitas. It's a 30-40 minute brisk hike to the summit (longer if you dawdle or aren't a hiker) and well worth the effort. Ideal Market and Moe's Broadway Bagels (two essentials!) are only minutes away, with Pearl Street a few minutes further.
The living accommodations suited us well. The house is in great condition and has lovely, bright, natural light. The designer shades allowed full privacy when desired. The back yard looked fabulous, but "looked" is all we did, as it was cold and snow covered all week. Two bathrooms were a bonus in a house this size, particularly when our population expanded with an overnight stay by our small Boulder grandchildren. All three bedrooms were very comfortable - beds and linens were fine quality. The living area is sparely, but comfortably furnished. Kitchen was well equipped, although the antique stove was somewhat daunting. Fortunately, we were lazy and the coffee maker was our primary appliance.
Minor quibbles: A few supplies (paper towels, garbage bags, laundry soap, kleenex) were sparse and the high-tech thermostat was a bit challenging.
All in all, a great place to stay and we would/will do it again.
Property was just as described and Whitney and Oliver were wonderful to work with. We had a small gathering with elderly grandparents for our son's graduation from CU and the one level ranch with tons of room was perfect. The vintage stove was fun to use and the kitchen was well stocked. The beds were comfortable and two baths were a plus. There was a small plumbing issue that Oliver addressed immediately -- appreciated his quick response.
There was a great deal of snow on the ground, so did not get to use the backyard or sit in those inviting chairs in the front, but that didn't keep us from enjoying the stars at night and beautiful Colorado sunrises. Not sure when we will get back to Boulder again, but certainly have enjoyed our many VRBO rentals over the past 4.5 years.

We have a 1 week (6 night) minimum for reservations more than about 60 days in advance, particularly for April through December bookings. We welcome all inquiries, and are more flexible in the Winter (January-March), but generally prefer to accept reservations that are at least 6 nights if the reservation is more than 6-8 weeks away.
