I bought this cabin because I'm a fisherman and got tired of paying the prices in Craig. I can promise u that I can save you money and provide a nice environment to enjoy your time off the water. Our cabin is on the Missouri River and on prime water a few miles downstream from Craig Montana. We have 3 bedrooms (6 beds) and a nice open space for a living room that joins the kitchen in a loft like layout. There is also a deck that allows you to eat outside and grill if you'd like. You can get cell phone service off the back deck. The fishing is superb and less than 100 yards off the back porch and the section is very wadeable for those looking to do some dry fly fishing within walking distance. If you are looking to float, we own both a drifting jet boat that we are willing to rent for $80/day for those that have rowing experience. Boats in town run 120/day and require a $30-50 shuttle. My neighbor runs a bed and breakfast that runs shuttles for our guests and supplies meals if desired at prices well below those offered in town. You will find the town of Craig to be a bit of a rip off on all things fishing because its the only game in town. We offset some of those costs by providing these services ourselves. Thank you for your inquiries and we look forward to hearing from you. We aim to please and are flexible on daily programs with food, fishing and anything else you feel is necessary to make your stay enjoyable.
The upstairs toilet clogged the first time it was used. It was obviously already clogged, as it would return to normal level after a few hours. Three days later someone came into the house and fixed the toilet. They made a mess which they left for us to clean. Thanks.
The sulfur smell was tolerable with the windows open. We could not get the furnace to stop running, it wasn’t needed on hot June days and was useless with the windows open. The thermostat in the hall was dead, no display or response whatsoever. I eventually turned the furnace off by tripping the breaker, otherwise it would have run continuously, costing the owners a fortune in electricity. On Thursday (five days after arrival), someone apparently came to the house, as the thermostat was working, the windows were closed, the AC was running, and the furnace breaker was reset. But why run the AC when the windows needed to be open to vent the house?
Montana law requires rentals to have a smoke detector and CO detector. All detectors have been removed from this house, the bare wires protrude from the ceilings.
The kitchen is poorly stocked. There are ample pots and pans and tableware. But not a single sharp knife. No bowls for mixing or serving; we used a pot for our nightly salad. No dishtowels to dry dishes.
I can go on with much more, but you get the picture. Both the angry man maintaining the house and condition of the house are simply unacceptable. The house is not suitable for rental. It could be fine if the owners would do three things: 1) make a few critical repairs so that the water and heating/ac systems are reliable, 2) spend $1,000 at yard sales and thrift stores restocking the furniture and accessories, and 3) hire one of the many professional services in the area to deep-clean once and then keep the place clean.
And perhaps fix the deck, it’s rotting away.
I wrote to the owners telling them all of this and included photos, but they never replied, so several weeks later I post this review. I believe they know the condition of the house is unacceptable, but choose to rent it anyway. This was the first time I had used a service like HomeAway – and it is the last time.
Finally – the house is in a neighborhood, the neighbors are very nice and friendly. Had to end this with something positive to say about the experience.
This is a great get-away on the Missouri River. It is clean and comfortable, well set up for fisherman. The kitchen is well-equipped for light meal preparation - cereal, soup, sandwiches, etc. There are two outdoor grills available , one gas and one charcoal. Although there is no view of the river from the deck, the views of the night sky and the Milky Way are spectacular. There is plenty of wildlife in the area. Deer are numerous, and there are also Bighorn Sheep, Pronghorn Antelope, and nesting Osprey. We stayed for ten days and thoroughly enjoyed it.
I arrived for a week of fishing with 3 other anglers on July 16th. The cabin was clean and we enjoyed an evening hatch in the backyard the first night. The fish were there and we were able to get into a few of them before enjoying dinner on the deck that evening. Having the boat available for use was a nice plus. We rented the owner's boat for $80/day versus the Craig price of 120/day + and were able to pay the neighbor $25/day to shuttle our vehicle versus the $30-40 day charged in town. Over a week of fishing the savings on the boat rental and shuttles added up to a few hundred bucks. The cabin itself was very comrfortable with a woodburning stove and a nice open living room for hanging out after a day of fishing. Simply put, I'd come back.

Great place to Stay! Perfect location! Close to the river. Very quiet and peaceful.
Stayed here for a long weekend with my family. Conveniently located 30 minutes from the airport and provided easy access to the river. Location is quiet and serene, but not secluded. Actual cabin is modern and updated with relatively new appliances and a barbecue available for grilling on the deck. The cabin was clean and well kept upon our arrival. Breathtaking views of the mountains.
Nice house close to the river. Adequate size and facilities for four fisherman. Was fun being able to relax on the deck and then walk a hundred yards to the river for some evening fly-fishing.
