Situated near downtown and all of the action but a truly residential and quiet spot with lots of old trees and breezes from Matanzas Bay. You will see families, retirees and colorful long time residents. Our neighborhood has a nice mix of architecture and home values too. Simple cottages built as servants quarters across the street and million dollar waterfront properties 1 block over. It's a safe, friendly and very desirable spot!
You can easily walk to most of the things you will want to see. If you do need help you can take a pedicab, taxi, horse and carriage, Segway or our bikes.

We are a family of 3 who live between St. Augustine and a small rural town in CT. We love traveling, camping and visiting historical sites. And like most Jacksonville FL natives we've been to St. Augustine a 'million' times. For starters my family has attended the St. Augustine Easter Parade for over 40 years! In fact, when we moved to St. Augustine there was not a street, restaurant or historic site that we didn't already know well. It was like we'd always been here.
pauline webb purchased this house in 2012
There are certain neighborhoods in St. Augustine that we have always enjoyed strolling through. Historic Abbott Tract (our neighborhood) has always been at the top of the list. Snuggled in between the Fort and the Mission alongside the beautiful Matanzas Bay it's one the best bases for exploring the exciting and historic downtown core. So when we found this unique home (which is basically two homes connected) we knew right away that it was perfect for us. We felt it had the right blend of architecture (some old and some new) and we loved the layout and overall vibe. We added the heated saline pool right away because the lot was small and it seemed the best way to utilize the space. We were right-it's been a big hit ever since! But the best part is walking to everything. At night when you walk past the beautifully lit Castillo De San Marcos on your way to dinner you know that you are lucky indeed! We hope you find your time in our home and neighborhood special too.
This architect designed property is unique in that you have a wonderful mesh of old and new. The 2 story portion built in 2006 connects via glassed in breezeway to the lovingly restored cottage built in 1875. Heart pine floors, plantation shutters and tropical colors bind these structures together yet the open floor plan allows for modern living and conveniences. We love how comfortable it is to live in this home. It's upscale but relaxed. It feels fresh yet you notice touches of age with original bead board ceilings, stained glass windows and antique doors. With tons of windows it seems always to be full of sunshine. Comfortable and cozy. The location is exceptional and the neighborhood vibe is one of community and diversity. Everybody knows everybody...and we love it that way.
We stayed in the whole property (house & cottage). Pamela has everything you could need, soaps, dishes, and many towels. Pool is an awesome bonus after a hot day touring beautiful St. Augustine. Quick and easy walk to most attractions.
Don't look any further...this is the perfect property!!
Close to everything in town and everything in the house was perfect.
This house and cottage, private pool included, is my new favorite place to stay. Ms. Webb is a wonderful person to work with. She provided everything, all the way down to the beach towels and plenty of towels and wash clothes. Everything is within walking distance. My family and I will be staying here on future trips.
My family and I enjoyed every minute of our stay! Renting both the house and cottage was perfect for us and even gave the adults a get away in the evenings with the two living areas! Also my boys fell in love with all the toys and games at the house. Many hours were spent building all kinds of things. The location I think was one of the most perfect things about the home. We bought a red train ticket walked to Ripley's everyday and spent our day everyday jumping on and off. It is well worth the money and having been to St. Augustine several times I got to see and learn things I never knew and probably still wouldn't know if we hadn't hopped on. (Be sure to check out everything Flagler and eat at the cafe Alcazar!) After a long sweaty day on the train the pool was the perfect way to relax. Notice to anyone staying with kids though alway wear shoes around the pool in the day time because the pool is in direct sun light a good portion of the day the ground (gets really really hot) can and will burn the bottoms of your feet (but this is nothing that Pauline can help and is definitely not a draw back). I could go on and on but I will end with we loved our stay and the next time we are in St. Augustine we will be booking here.
P.S. Pauline my Grandmother was trying to convince me all trip to buy the cottage she was so in love :)
This place is a gem for larger groups if you want just enough togetherness with just enough separation. The two houses allowed my daughter and her family to have their own space yet our granddaughters could walk through the connected breezeway/hallway to visit Grammy and Papa whenever they wanted. The houses were so clean my husband walked around barefoot. That's saying something because he is a germ-a-phobe. Our thanks and compliments to the cleaning staff!
Location, location, location! Like others have said, everything is within walking distance. The trolleys are a few short blocks away and, using your trolley ticket, you can board the beach bus that runs down to gorgeous white sand beaches and Anastasia State Park. We really only used the car to go to the grocery store. The neighborhood is charming and eclectic. There is everything from gorgeous old mansions to distressed properties in the immediate area. The neighborhood is definitely on the upswing though and I imagine pretty pricey because the bay is a block away and homeowners all around are restoring the historic properties. We never heard a peep out of any of the neighbors (heavenly sleep by the way) and the ones we saw always waved. Lovely overall and I'd live there in a heartbeat.
Special mention of the pool. It saved us hundreds of dollars because rather than entertaining three granddaughters out on the town all day, the girls spent hours swimming and loved every minute. The adults spent a fair amount of time in the pool too because it served as a great refresher after being out in the July heat. The pool and surrounding gardens are enchanting. Our granddaughter said it felt like a secret garden. This sounds weird, but to me it felt like a Disney movie come to life. We had an owl, squirrels, birds, frogs, and the cutest little lizards running around everywhere. It's easy to see why they all want to hang out there!
Pauline is efficient and thoughtful. We had a problem with the bike shed lock and she had it resolved in about 15 minutes. She also texted us with insider tips about the July 4th fireworks show. (We were there over the July 4th holiday and the city fireworks show was spectacular!)
Lastly, I have to give a shout out to the folks of St. Augustine. Our son lost his wallet while out sightseeing. It contained over $300.00 cash. A good samaritan found it and delivered it to the police station.
Thanks for a delightful stay Pauline and Geoff!
Many of my friends are very picky about where they sleep (as am I) and this house EXCEEDED our expectations! The house is gorgeous and even better than the pictures with plenty of reoom and character! We had an amazing time and were blown away by the attention to detail. Pauline was a text or phone call away at all times and was extremely accommodating. I highly recommend this house, you won't be disappointed!
