We had such a wonderful stay at Casa Roja Upper. It was the low season, so there wasn't anyone in the lower unit, so we had the place to ourselves. The AC was very welcome in the heat and humidity of September, and the palapa-style kitchen/common area was perfect. My only complaint is that there was no broom, no extra garbage bags, or some other basic cleaning items. We didn't have it cleaned until we had been there 7 of our 10 days, so the floors were covered in sand and the garbage was smelly and overflowing. It would have been nice to be able to take care of some of those things on our own. Otherwise, it was absolutely wonderful! Thank you so much for a great visit. We will be back!
The place was beautiful. The kitchen had everything we needed in it, and there was a little store next door to get eggs and veggies to make our breakfast. It was far enough away from town to not hear the party, but close enough to walk to. The pool was lovely to jump in to in the evenings.
The new owner almost never came by. One night 4 nights in to our 10 night stay it rained really hard, and the drain pipe for the back balcony must have gotten plugged because the balcony ended up having 4 inches of standing water in it. When we finally saw the owner a couple days later she simply gave us a broom and told us to try to unplug it ourselves. So for the rest of the trip we had a mosquito breeding ground on the back patio.
Also, the ad stated that the suite gets cleaned once per week, which it did not. when we ran out of toilet paper we had to email the owner and she just told us to get our own from the storage shed downstairs.
We liked this place, but hopefully the new management gets a little bit more involved to make guests feel welcome.
We had an excellent experience at Casa Roja. Traci was super helpful and responsive when we ran into some logistical issues (not related to the house). Great space. Great location. I loved the outdoor kitchen!
David and Traci are such gracious hosts. The house is 5 minutes to the beaches and attractions of Sayulita. Try the freshly ground and baked tortillas every morning at the first street corner ... 90 cents for a warm kg! This home is great value; the feeling is being right among the locals including the ubiquitous pet dogs and chickens. Though the kitchen and common area are covered outdoor spaces, there were virtually no mosquitos or other biting bugs and the temperatures were fine even though it was a much cooler week than normal. Enjoy!
Sayulita was such wonderful experience. Casa Roja is very nice with a open air living area. Traci has thought of everything you might need. The apartment is very well appointed, the beds are comfortable. We were there in May with temperatures in the 80's but the upper apartment was always pleasant with a nice breeze in the evening. Traci or Harvy were always available for any questions or concerns. I would highly recommend staying here.
We had a relaxing and enjoyable stay at Casa Rojas! It was easy to find from the bus stop, close to town and close to the beach. It was also far enough away from the night-life to be peaceful and quiet at night. It is a charming house that is tastefully decorated, well maintained and very clean. The owners have thought of everything a traveler might need and were extremely helpful. They gave us directions to a couple of more secluded beaches which we enjoyed visiting. Definitely plan to buy your breakfast and snack food at the little grocery store next door--they have warm corn tortillas in the morning, and anything else you might need for breakfast, lunch and snacks, and they are very friendly! We especially loved the outdoor kitchen and eating area in the upstairs unit! The beds were very comfortable as well.
Property is gated. Guests are required to keep gate locked at all times. Street parking for vehicles. Sayulita is extremely small and a vehicle is really not necessary
We ask all guests to be respectful of the neighborhood we live in.
Please do not bring any glass near the pool area
