Our family has traveled far and wide, but we always reserve vacation dates for our very special 'Robin's Nest' to enjoy all Vermont has to offer.
Robin Limerick purchased this cabin in 2001
'Robin's Nest' is a beloved family gathering spot for all ages and hopefully can be handed down for generations to come. It has gone from camp to cabin to slightly rustic cottage for all to enjoy in this special corner on earth. It is our home, when we are away from home!
Ideally situated on Lake Champlain, Bayside, Mills Point enjoying the views from the porch, deck or little beach, excellent spot for kayaking to cookouts!
I'm a bit afraid of saying how much we loved this cottage because it may be booked the next time we want to come, but I have to give credit where it is due. Robin's Nest is cozy, comfy, and perfectly located. We spent most of our time there on the screened porch, staring at the water. The cottage is open and light, and the bedrooms and baths are more than sufficient for a summer visit. Linens and supplies were perfect. Robin is super helpful and communicative about plans for the stay. We can't wait to come back!
We thoroughly enjoyed our week-long stay at Robin's nest. We are bird watchers, and the grassy shore just beyond Robin's porch offered us quite a view of incoming herons, osprey, egrets, red-wing black birds, kingfishers, and hundreds more birds. The cottage itself is well organized and the kitchen has everything you need. The beds are comfortable, and the living space, albeit small, is inviting. I recommend Robin's nest and look forward to returning to it again one day.
We arrived at 4 pm just after a rain storm and found the cabin cozy. We moved in an got some supper rested then went to bed. The next morning it was 51 inside the camp but from there it got hot at times the camp reached 88 inside. They had an air conditioner but it was not in a window and we did not know which one it would fit. There were lots of fans that we did use. We enjoyed our time on the porch. We went to the Hyde cabin on Grand Isle because Hyde was a distant Great great .. Uncle. We did a luncheon cruise, took the ferry out of Burlington when we left all recommended. Parking is a very big problem in Burlington. The last statement is about the water level. This is by no means the fault of the owners. I could suggest a dock that get you to the water without walking in the mud. Overall we enjoyed our stay. Thank you for sharing your cottage.
The cabin is very well maintained. It has every thing you need to enjoy a vacation. The beds were very comfortable and the sheets so sotf with plenty of fans to keep cool. The views from the porch are of the beautiful lake and a grassy wildlife area. It's a great place for bird watchers. We enjoyed watching the terns dive for their fish and had visits from the the white and blue heron, ducks and a variety of birds. The swimming isn't so great but a two minute bike ride brings you to the beautiful colchester causeway where we had a great time swimming and biking. The cabin is a short drive to grocery stores and restaurants and beaches. It's a very quiet, peaceful place to relax and enjoy summer .
We had a wonderful week. We enjoyed the lake, swimming, kayaking and watching numerous animals appearing aroud. The place is very quiet and beautiful. We discovered Colchester, Burlington and Shelburne areas with pleasure. We loved biking to Burlington or to the bike lane across the lake to South Hero Island. This cottage is very clean and well equiped, comfortable and warm. The owner answered very quickly to all our questions. This was an unforgettable location.
This is a terrific little cottage that sits in a wooded area right on the water. The pictures do it a complete justice - based on photos, you show up knowing what to expect and the place more than delivers.
The place was perfect for the two of us and our two french bulldogs. We enjoyed coffee in the morning on the screened in porch. We had a lazy afternoon rest in the hammock one day. We built fires in the fire place to take the chill out of the morning air a couple of times. The kitchen is completely stocked with pans, etc. - pretty much everything you need for cooking is there. The place is absolutely charming...lots of great guides and maps of the local area that were helpful for planning our unplanned days once we arrived.
Things to note - you probably won't want to swim in this area. The cottage is on the water, however, it's a bit marshy with lots of reeds, etc. in the area. You can easily launch a canoe or whatnot...again, the pictures do it justice. Also, they have an algae bloom problem on the lake right now and in the evening when the breeze kicks in, the smell from the lake is a bit much. That said, we only noticed it at night and by that time, we were finished sitting outside anyhow and it wasn't a bother.
The location is good - 15 mins to Burlington for great restaurants, shopping, nightlife, etc. The cottage is at the end of the road with a bike/running path a five minute walk away. There are year round neighbors on one side and woods next door. We had plenty of space and really enjoyed our time there!
Nearby Burlington - It's a college town with plenty of bars and restaurants and farmers markets! Bike path conveniently located to the cottage. Shelburne Museum a must see! Hiking and lake activities abound.
