About Colin Rayner
One of the owners- Raleigh Hill- was a well-known interior designer in Palm Beach Fl for many years. His partner of 40 years was a teacher and education professor from Toronto. We ran 2 bed and breakfasts in West Palm Beach Fl for over 30 years - Hibiscus House and Hibiscus House Downtown.
Colin Rayner purchased this House in 2003
Why Colin Rayner chose Highlands
Left South Florida for cooler temperatures - found a 1400 square foot house and renovated it and added on - now have 6000 square feet. Beautiful acreage with 2 man-made waterfalls and 14 patios and decks.
What makes this House unique
Amazing location just one and a half miles to Main street Highlands. Plenty of room for a group to gather either indoors or out or plenty of private spots to relax and read a book.

My family celebrated Thanksgiving in this beautiful home. It was a taste of luxury. Every room was such a delight. The owners were so accommodating and helpful. We will be renting again.
I rented this property as my children wanted to have a Thanksgiving together. It was wonderful. The owners were accommodating and very helpful. Like a museum, but nice for all ages. We really enjoyed. Would recommend for all family's to try once.
This house is just exceptional both inside and out!! The interior is both gorgeous and comfortable. Besides the 5 beautiful bedrooms and baths, it is hard to remember all the principal rooms within the house that we used - the spectacular living room, the cozy library, the sunny family room, the lovely lower living room, and not to forget the charming sunroom. The outdoors is equally inviting with several stone patios and decks as well as 4 gazebos. we also enjoyed sitting listening to the two waterfalls. My big group was never crowded as the property has so much room inside and out! A true gem!
We will be going back next June!
There were 4 couples staying and all of us had wonderful things to say about the house. There are plenty of areas to get away in the house and I used the beautiful extra large living area to work on my computer, I had to finish up the rehearsal dinner video.
The property was well maintained, area quiet and close to town. The owner was always available if you had any questions. THere are many different collections in the house which we were surprised to see in a rental home.
We would recommend this home to anyone wanting an upscale home in Highlands. It does not have a mountain view but you feel as though you are in the woods. There are several areas outside to sit though the main deck off of the kitchen could have been a little larger. The water fall was controlled by a switch which was extremely convenient.
Owner was easy to work with, would stay again with large group.
Highlands House a Haven
Our family stayed in this lovely home for our daughter's destination wedding in Highlands. It was everything the pictures and descriptions portrayed and then some! The home is spacious and warm with gorgeous decor and furnishings. The numerous sitting areas both inside and out gave everyone plenty of options to spread out or gather. The two waterfall/water gardens are especially hard to leave, even when it is time for bed. Another advantage of this lovely home is its close proximity to the town of Highlands.
This is a MUST STAY!
We have stayed at numerou...
We have stayed at numerous houses over the years and this was one of the best. Great location, beautifully decorated and very helpful owner. Look forward to making a return trip soon.
The house is located just 1.5 miles from Main Street off the Dillard Road. Potter Lane is a private road and we are the second to last house on the road so there is very little traffic.
