Located near Apache-Sitgreaves National Forest.

Closest rental cabin to Sunrise Ski Area.

Two Bedrooms: Queen bed in each bedroom. Linens furnished.

Kitchen has 8 place setting of dishes, silverware, kitchen towels, toaster, waffle maker, coffee maker, lots of pots and pans. Large refrigerator, microwave, stove w/oven.

Fireplace: we supply wood for a small fire for each night. We supply our homemade "fire muffin" to start the fire.

Front porch has lovely swing allowing you to watch the wildlife and daydream.

Front yard has a picnic table and Adirondack chairs.

Family/dining room has table w/leaf and 4 chairs. Love seat, recliner and rocking chair to view the fireplace and/or TV. Or just look out the front window that has a beautiful view of the Ponderosa forest.

Direct TV service is provided. Also a DVD player is provided with many DVDs available.

Owner has provided many books if you forgot to bring one and feel like reading. If you don't finish it - take it with you and keep it!!!

You will want to go outside at night to see the beautiful clear, bright sky light up with the Milky Way, stars, and moon.

The long circle driveway is plowed during winter months.

Greer Pines Cabin is close to Greer Lakes, Benny Creek, Rosie Creek, Hall Creek and Little Colorado River. We have hiked down into the Hall Creek Canyon and also hiked along the top of the canyon and gazed down into the canyon. No trails! Make your own. There are many trails nearby just waiting to be used!

Just minutes away from Greer restaurants, Butterfly Museum and Lazy Trout store.

During summer months Music from Greer offers several concerts by donation only. A schedule is provided in the cabin.

All four seasons have their own beauty. Sunrise Ski area is a short 15 miles from the cabin. Summer is delightful with evening temperatures such that you will want a blanket on to sleep.

Autumn has its own beauty. The changing color of the Aspen is a lovely time to be in Greer and the White Mountains.

In the Spring you will see the beautiful wild iris and other wild flowers galore.

Plan to spend time here during the summer - away from the suffocating heat elsewhere. You will be happy you came and will want to hurry back.

Mountain Bighorn sheep are known to come into the yard at Greer Pines Cabin. It's a beautiful thing to see. Also wild turkey are sighted frequently. And, of course, there are deer and elk.

About Carole and Bob Combs

We have lived in Arizona since 1974 and in Greer since 1990. The property the cabin sits on was purchased in 1988. Bob has built cabins in the area and he built Greer Pines Cabin in 2004. The cabin shows his attention to detail and desire to produce a quality cabin. Bob, in retirement, loves refurbishing old cars. He has a Model A in beautiful, driving condition. You are likely to see us in and around Greer in the Model A. Also "Peggy Sue" our 1953 red & black Buick has now been restored and driven by us in and around Greer.

Carole likes to quilt and sew for grandchildren. When we have time we enjoy going to Big Lake with our boat and do some 'serious' fishing.

We still go into the forest and cut our own wood supply in the autumn. Also, it is an annual event for us to get our Christmas tree off the forest (with permit in hand, of course).

Carole and Bob Combs purchased this cabin in 1988

Why Carole and Bob Combs chose Greer

We love Greer for it's uniqueness. Folks are friendly here and it is the perfect get-away for some and we are fortunate to be able to live here year around. We like its proximity to Hall Creek where hiking is wonderful. There are no trails in Hall Creek Canyon- we make our own. We are also a short way from Greer Lakes.

What makes this cabin unique

The proximity to Greer Lakes, US Forest Service land with many hiking trails, fishing opportunities and wildlife viewing is the reason people like to come here. State Route 373 ends at the south end of Greer. That is where the the Little Colorado River begins. In our cabin we provide literature on nearby trails and things to explore.

Winter sports bring many to the White Mountains and Greer Pines Cabin is the closest rental cabin to Sunrise Ski Area.

Bighorn sheep have been re-introduced to this area and there have been multiple sightings on the Greer Pines property and nearby.

Guests at the cabin will find puzzles, games and books to enjoy. Some of the books can be taken with you if you decide you would like to read it later or haven't finished reading.

Comfy and Cozy

  • 5 of 5

This cabin was perfect from the moment we arived. The cabin was spotless, and the beds were so comfortable. We enjoyed watching our girls play in the woods in the surrounding area. The fires at night provided nice relaxing family time. The little extras really show. The owners left a nice birthday sign for our 10 year old. It was deffently one of the nicest cabins in the area and we plan on coming back many times!!!!

Absolutely amazing cabin!! Decorated beautifully and of quality workmanship. It’s a must!

  • 5 of 5

We stayed here for my wife’s birthday weekend. The pictures on VRBO looked nice but the real thing is breathtaking. The quality of the cabin is unmatched. We have stayed at a few cabins and this one is the best. The Comb’s make it feel like a warm home. It has all the amenities you could ask for, and the fireplace was very nice to use. We were visiting from Tucson so it was beautiful to see the change in environment and a little snow. We would recommend this cabin to anyone that wants to stay in the area or have a nice getaway!

Thank you for a fabulous few days in your gorgeous cabin. We had a wonderful time enjoying the beautiful outdoors, hiking and skiing, and playing board games in the evenings in front of a cosy fire. Thank you for sharing your cottage in the woods with us. 😀

There are many hiking trails in the Greer area plus many places to hike w/o trails. Butler Canyon Nature Trail is only a one mile gentle hike good for families with small children. West Baldy Trail is 14 miles & is rated moderate. East Fork Trail to Mt. Baldy (lower end) is about 6 miles long to Winn Campground. Benny Creek/Pole Knoll trails is a maze of trails that is used for hiking in the summer and cross-country skiing in the winter.

Fishing: There are three reservoirs in the Greer Recreation Area, Bunch, River, and Tunnel Reservoirs. Also the Little Colorado River runs through Greer. Apache, Brown & Rainbow trout species are in the reservoirs and the Little Colorado River.

If you want to come and relax there is ample opportunity to do that. Butterflies, birds, and wildlife are abundant and just relaxing and watching is an enjoyment. Deer, antelope, bear, mountain sheep & elk are within view often, perhaps bear not so often though.

During winter months snowshoeing, cross-country skiing, sledding and other activities are fun for all. Sunrise Ski area for downhill skiing is just a short distance from Greer Pines Cabin.

Sunrise Park now has a zip line. According to their online information there is a series of 6 zip lines, over one mile long. They also have chair lift rides for summer rides up the mountain with a restaurant at the top of the ride or just to walk around at the top. Sunrise Park information page says "Take a round-trip ride, or hop off at the top of Sunrise Peak and enjoy the spectacular views of the Arizona White Mountains for a perfect picture opportunity." Sunrise Park is just 11 miles from Greer Pines Cabin.

During the autumn the turning of the aspens is a favorite sightseeing activity.

In case you have an illness, Springerville/Eagar areas have excellent clinics and a hospital, White Mountain Regional Medical Center. That community is approximately 15 miles away.

Greer has a fire department with an EMT on duty.
