Greer Pines Cabin is close to Greer Lakes, Benny Creek, Rosie Creek, Hall Creek and Little Colorado River. We have hiked down into the Hall Creek Canyon and also hiked along the top of the canyon and gazed down into the canyon. No trails! Make your own. There are many trails nearby just waiting to be used!
Just minutes away from Greer restaurants, Butterfly Museum and Lazy Trout store.
During summer months Music from Greer offers several concerts by donation only. A schedule is provided in the cabin.
All four seasons have their own beauty. Sunrise Ski area is a short 15 miles from the cabin. Summer is delightful with evening temperatures such that you will want a blanket on to sleep.
Autumn has its own beauty. The changing color of the Aspen is a lovely time to be in Greer and the White Mountains.
In the Spring you will see the beautiful wild iris and other wild flowers galore.
We have lived in Arizona since 1974 and in Greer since 1990. The property the cabin sits on was purchased in 1988. Bob has built cabins in the area and he built Greer Pines Cabin in 2004. The cabin shows his attention to detail and desire to produce a quality cabin. Bob, in retirement, loves refurbishing old cars. He has a Model A in beautiful, driving condition. You are likely to see us in and around Greer in the Model A. Also "Peggy Sue" our 1953 red & black Buick has now been restored and driven by us in and around Greer.
Carole likes to quilt and sew for grandchildren. When we have time we enjoy going to Big Lake with our boat and do some 'serious' fishing.
We still go into the forest and cut our own wood supply in the autumn. Also, it is an annual event for us to get our Christmas tree off the forest (with permit in hand, of course).
Carole and Bob Combs purchased this cabin in 1988
We love Greer for it's uniqueness. Folks are friendly here and it is the perfect get-away for some and we are fortunate to be able to live here year around. We like its proximity to Hall Creek where hiking is wonderful. There are no trails - we make our own. We are also a short way from Greer Lakes.
The proximity to Greer Lakes, US Forest Service land with many hiking trails, fishing opportunities and wildlife viewing is the reason people like to come here. State Route 373 ends at the south end of Greer. That is where the the Little Colorado River begins.
Very nice cabin and so very well equipped for everything. A welcomed place to just relax and enjoy the lovely forested scenery. It was an absolute delight and will come back again.
Great. Immunization from the owners and they made our stay a memorable one.
My wife and I had a wonderful stay (for our anniversary). Very cozy and clean. Everything we needed was supplied, and notes were left for instruction (very helpful). HIGHLY likely we will return. Thanks again to the Combs!

We had a wonderful weekend getaway at this beautiful cabin. We are definitely coming back!!
My husband and I visit Greer frequently. This was our first time at Greer Pines Cabin. We loved it. Very clean, and had everything you needed. We saw many deer around the cabin, which was a joy to the both of us! We also saw Big Horn Sheep and Elk while driving around the area. We did a lot of hiking and exploring, and just love the peacefulness up in Greer. The porch area is wonderful to sit on the swing and have your morning coffee! Hope to be back soon! Thank you Carole and Bob. :)
Wonderful cabin! My husband and I took a break from the real world and took our young son up to this cabin to enjoy the cooler weather. It was amazing! We played in the grassy area in front of the cabin, enjoyed the porch swing, and did some hiking. I highly recommend this cabin rental!
My wife and I are normally tent campers, so this was our first time staying in a cabin. We were not disappointed. The Greer Pines Cabin was perfect! It was well built, nicely decorated, and very clean. Carole and Bob (owners), along with the VRBO site made the rental process very smooth. We had never done this before, so we were pleasantly surprised.
During our three-night stay, we used the cabin as a base for our exploration of the area. Fall is our favorite time of year up in that area. It's beautiful and there aren't too many people. We explored eight different lakes, drove down to Alpine and Hannagan Meadow, saw plenty of wildlife (deer, elk, big-horn sheep), and had some really yummy breakfast at the Rendezvous Cafe in Greer.
We definitely recommend Greer Pines Cabin to anyone looking for a quiet getaway to the high-country, and we would love to stay there again when we get the chance.
There are many hiking trails in the Greer area plus many places to hike w/o trails. Butler Canyon Nature Trail is only a one mile gentle hike good for families with small children. West Baldy Trail is 14 miles & is rated moderate. East Fork Trail to Mt. Baldy (lower end) is about 6 miles long to Winn Campground. Benny Creek/Pole Knoll trails is a maze of trails that is used for hiking in the summer and cross-country skiing in the winter.
Fishing: There are three reservoirs in the Greer Recreation Area, Bunch, River, and Tunnel Reservoirs. Also the Little Colorado River runs through Greer. Apache, Brown & Rainbow trout species are in the reservoirs and the Little Colorado River.
If you want to come and relax there is ample opportunity to do that. Butterflies, birds, and wildlife are abundant and just relaxing and watching is an enjoyment. Deer, antelope, bear, mountain sheep & elk are within view often, perhaps bear not so often though.
During winter months snowshoeing, cross-country skiing, sledding and other activities are fun for all. Sunrise Ski area for downhill skiing is just a short distance from Greer Pines Cabin.
Sunrise Park now has a zip line. According to their online information there is a series of 6 zip lines, over one mile long. They also have chair lift rides for summer rides up the mountain with a restaurant at the top of the ride or just to walk around at the top. Sunrise Park information page says "Take a round-trip ride, or hop off at the top of Sunrise Peak and enjoy the spectacular views of the Arizona White Mountains for a perfect picture opportunity." Sunrise Park is just 11 miles from Greer Pines Cabin.
During the autumn the turning of the aspens is a favorite sightseeing activity.
In case you have an illness, Springerville/Eagar areas have excellent clinics and a hospital, White Mountain Regional Medical Center. That community is approximately 15 miles away.
Greer has a fire department with an EMT on duty.
