Casa Le Pigne is an enchanting 2000sq ft, single-level villa situated in a peaceful and panoramic position (600m altitude), overlooking the forests and gentle hills of the Chianti Classico wine region of Tuscany.

The property is private and calm (nearest neighbour about 500m away) and at 6km from the historic village of Castellina in Chianti. Castellina is world famous for Rocca delle Macie wine, along with hundreds of other tasteful wines. Castellina is also well known for its antique shops, delicious restaurants and the Saturday weekly market.

The villa consists of:

- 4 bedrooms each with 2 single confortable beds (can be joined as King size)

*total beds : 9 + 1 sofabed (2 sleeps)

*total sleeps : 11 + 1 baby bed

The impressive 7-acre fenced garden is complete with a private fenced 6 by 16m swimming pool. All is perfect for taking time out to lounge while sipping a glass of local chianti wine or spumante.

Surrounding the estate is more than 250-acres of wild countryside for unforgettable hikes immersed in untouched nature. 5 marked walks for every walking level.

Other activities the area has to offer include:

- sightseeing

- horseback riding

- wine tasting and vineyard tours

- culinary tours and cooking lessons

- archery lessons and 3D trail

- thermal baths and spas

- village fairs

- harvest season tours and visits (September and October)

The main tourism season stretches from mid-April to the end of October with July and August being peak months. A great time to visit Tuscany is in the quieter part of the season: May or June for beautiful weather and less crowds and of course September and October during the harvest time to experience the wine making, right in the cellar where the activity takes place. I enjoy November at harvest and olive oil processing.

Casa Le Pigne is the perfect place for a relaxing holiday with friends and family !

About Jérôme GLORIE

I'm Jerome, 63, I live and work in Brussels, Belgium. Education in Law and Criminology in UCL (Leuven) and Montreal, Canada. I work now as Director general of the Belgian Civil Protection - Ministry of Home affairs - in Belgium. My previous job was in Crisis management and Crime Prevention. I begun as lawyer at the Bar.

I love nature and culture, and therefore is Tuscany a perfect match. I produce (bio certified) aromatic Herbs (Lavender, Everlasting, Melissa) and distillate for their essential Oils (the owner photo was kept when i was busy distillation) With those high quality products i make my own bio Cosmetics : a.o. Anti-Aging cream, Sensitive Skin balm, Hand Care balm, Body oil...

Jérôme GLORIE purchased this villa in 1999

Why Jérôme GLORIE chose Castellina In Chianti

I love Italy since i'm a teen. The sounds, smells, tastes and flavours, all..., and I discovered Tuscany at 18. An immediate 'coup de foudre'. I come in Castellina for vacations since 42 years now. It was always my dream to buy a house here, in the forest and wild surroundings. I am so happy to stay here, walking around and working hard to grow aromatic plants, harvest and distillate them to produce my organic essential oils. People here are fantastic, helpful, hard and inspired workers.

What makes this villa unique

The Chianti area: fine wines and good food, The view, the nature, the air, the Magic Cypress Circle, the 10 feet high Mushroom. All the Italian Renaissance culture at your fingertips !

I come here every winter and i adore this season : fresh air, clear light, less people so i can see more wild animals, also the smell of the open fire...

The villa is absolutely exceptional. It is full of interesting features and in an incredible setting

  • 5 of 5

We were 7 adults and the villa did not disappoint in terms of size, facilities and space to be together and apart. We loved the variety of different seating areas to eat around the Villa in order to make the most of the sunsets and other bits of scenery at different times of day. Filomena and Jerome were incredibly helpful in helping our transfer company find the place as we ended up staying here for a week without a car! We did a massive shop at the start of the week and took on the beautiful, hour long walk into town for the occasional dinner, vineyard visit and potter around. You really don’t need to leave this place though. It is an incredible building, with a wonderful pool in an amazing setting. Filomena cooked us a glorious feast on one of the nights. We had the most amazing time and would love to visit again in the future!

Wonderful spot in Tuscany

  • 5 of 5

Jerome met us the day we got there and answered all of our questions regarding issues we may encounter. This villa was outstanding, out away from anyone where you could relax and enjoy the countryside. We were close enough to a number of smaller villages to explore including Castellina (our favorite), Panzano, San G., Sienna, and even Florence for day trips. Having this villa as our home base was awesome. We had been in Italy for 3 weeks prior to this and it was go, go, go and this villa gave us an opportunity to just relax. Thank you Jerome, we loved it!

Superb villa with brilliant pool and wonderful views (and sunsets) in quiet location

  • 5 of 5

Would echo all the previous reviews. Everything you could need and the pool was excellent - good to have a pool you can actually swim in! The garden and views were fantastic and a number of terraces to eat out on depending on the time of day and the sunsets superb. A great location within easy reach of Florence, Siena, San Gimignano and all all places in between. Also did a day trip to Venice (2 hours by train from Florence). Would recommend the tram from Scandicci for getting in and out of Florence with a big parking lot just off the motorway. Castellinia is a great little town - thoroughly recommend the Pizzeria Il Fondaccio on the way into town. Lucca and Pisa worth a visit (but a little further away) - though Pisa was horribly busy. Siena is a delight. Overall a great holiday and would thoroughly recommend the villa.

The house is very spacious. We were 4 adults with 4 active kids and we all had the space we needed. The garden is out of this world. It must take hours of gardening each week to maintain it. Kids loved to play outside: between the trees, the tippee, the hamacs, there was so much for them to do. A lot of seating areas outside to enjoy the views. Great location, between Siena and Florence. The host was really nice. Don't think twice. If you need a place to stay in Tuscany, this is it!

The Chianti area in Tuscany is world famous for its great 'Chianti classico' wine and delicious food. I suggest booking a wine tasting by Nittardi, just 4km from our home, or at the Fattoria La Ripa for organic wines (5km), and a guided tour of some of the Chianti Classico vineyards and "cantina".

Castellina is offering several good restaurants, from one gorgeous (ex) 1 star Michelin to the local tasteful pizzeria.

Our nice neighbor (2km) Katharina-Ulrike organise excellent Tuscan cooking lessons in English, German and of course Italian. Her son Fabian is a bow instructor and have a nice and very realistic 3D archery trail. (

Visiting Monteriggioni, San Gimignano, Volterra, Siena and of course Florence are a must.
