"A lovely, roomy, authent...
"A lovely, roomy, authentically restored village home with stupendous views down the hillside to the harbor. Romantic and quiet, it's a perfect place to write, read, and simply sit and drink in the surroundings. Well supplied with everything, from kitchen to bath."
Beautiful house of immense charm and character.
We were lucky enough to spend six weeks in this truly beautiful house which exceeded our expectations in all aspects.(The photographs/description on the website simply do not do it justice !). Each day we fell a little more in love with it's magical charm. Anne, the owner, has restored the house with immense sensitivity, artistic skill and attention to detail. She leaves no stone unturned to ensure the comfort and wellbeing of house guests who are treated as valued friends.
We woke each morning to bird song, donkey's braying and the sound of church bell's.The flower filled courtyard and upstairs terrace provide fabulous sea and mountain views , ample opportunities for sun or shade throughout the day and an opera box each evening from which to watch the sunset. It is hard to imagine a more perfect home base from which to explore this incredibly special village and island. We already long to be back.
A wonderful and special week
We had a wonderful week in Anne's gorgeous and comfortable house with its fantastic view down to the bay. It was simply and charmingly furnished and we quickly made ourselves at home. We loved our breakfasts and evening drinks on the terrace outside the main upstairs bedroom, and appreciated the coolness of the interior during the lazy, hot afternoons.
Amorgos is a beautiful island and the small local village of Langada is a delight - stunning views, loads of white steps between the ancient white washed houses, many cats, quite a few mules, several tavernas and two grocery stores. Who could ask for more? We had thought of hiring a car but the bus was so easy to use we just fitted our schedule around it. By the way, don't climb all the way to the top of the village to catch the bus. There's an unofficial, unmarked bus stop which you can reach by walking through to the main road from nearby Taverna Nikos (which, by the way, we thought was the pick of the restaurants). And the pastry shop/cafe (Tratarisma) right next to the same bus stop is simply wonderful.
One word of warning for those who find steps a problem - not only would the village be hard, but the house itself has its main bedroom up a stone stairway without rails. Going down to the bathroom at night did not bother us one iota but it might be a problem for some.
Anne was away when we were there, but stayed in touch and ensured everything worked well. She was thoughtful and generous in all the arrangements she made with us. We very much hope to return.
Perfect in every way!
This is my idea of a perfect Greek village house: an old house which has been beautifully restored in keeping with the village and island style, but without losing its traditional character and charm. The house is comfortable and well-equipped and has the nicest bathroom of any house in Langada I have rented. It was spotlessly clean and everything functioned.
The island is accessed by 2 harbours:Katapola and Aegiali(the nearest one).
3 weekly ferry crossing in winter, and 6 during summer.
The trip takes from 4 to 10 hours depending on th etype of ferry.
Please note water should be used sparingly.
Le tarif s'entend sur une base de 2 personnes, il est demandé un supplément de 50€ par personne au delà de ce nombre et ce quelque soit la durée du séjour.
