Description

Photos and Description of this 1 bedroom holiday cottage in North Bennington

Secluded country cottage on 15 private acres of land including a private pond.

This is a newly built (2013) cottage located on 15 private, wooded acres of land on the border of Bennington and North Bennington in Southwest Vermont. Designed and constructed by the owner and a close friend, care has gone into every detail of this beautiful and peaceful location. The property is quiet and secluded, but close to all of the local activities and attractions. It features a private 1.5 acre pond with diverse wildlife, wetlands, waterfall and covered bridge. The cottage is loft style with an upstairs bedroom that overlooks the pond. It can accommodate an additional two guests with a downstairs sleeper sofa. Our home is about 200 yards away, across the pond and stream, but blocked from view most of the year by foliage.

The cottage is located within 30 minutes of multiple regional attractions which include Williams College, Williamstown/North Adams museums, Manchester Center, the Green Mountains and Woodford State Park, and historic sites within Bennington itself. We are walking distance from grocery and Bennington College, and less than 3 miles from village shops and the Bennington Monument. It is also a short drive to several local ski and summer-sports resorts.

The cottage offers every modern amenity - a full kitchen, cable, WiFi, living/dining area and large porch. Stairs lead to a second floor loft-style bedroom which overlooks the first floor and pond via a large picture window. This was designed as a luxury cottage for a romantic weekend getaway, but could easily accommodate up to four with comfort.

About Adam Cohen

Adam and Beverly Cohen moved to Bennington in 2004 from Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania for work at Southwestern Vermont Medical Center. Adam is originally from Queens, NY and Beverly is originally from Newcastle, Pennsylvania. Our main house is in a different location on the same property. We live here with our dog and have invested our lives into restoring and preserving this beautiful property.

Why Adam Cohen chose Bennington

We fell in love with this location because while it is located close to Bennington town it is also private and quiet. The property is beautiful, featuring a large pond stocked with trout and frequented by eagles and blue herons. The outlet stream features a covered bridge and waterfall. There is a vibrant wildlife community that makes a home of the pond and adjacent wetlands.

What makes this cottage unique

I designed and built this cottage personally with a friend in 2013 to be a beautiful retreat for friends and family to come visit. In the times that we are not personally hosting, we thought that others might enjoy the use of our cottage. It is a romantic and private place. It has a front porch that overlooks the pond and is the perfect place to relax and enjoy the evening with friends. While it is quiet and private, you can literally walk to the store across the street from our entrance for groceries, if desired. The rental also features free Wi-Fi and basic cable.

A True Hidden Gem

  • 5 of 5

There is nothing bad that you can say about this little cottage. It was perfect for our weekend getaway. It was furnished with pretty much everything you could need. It is tucked away just far away in the woods to give you that perfect secluded feeling, yet extremely close to town with many restaurants/bars, and other attractions to visit. Perfect for our romantic weekend away!

Can't wait to come back!

Great Little Cottage in Wonderful Bennington VT

  • 5 of 5

We spent 15 days on the road visiting several places in Vermont and New Hampshire. Stayed at 4 different places with one being this wonderful cottage in Bennington. Getting off the road, pulling into the very private, long, driveway you immediately feel as if you're secluded somewhere in God's country and yet only minutes from town and the many great things to do. The cottage was awesome! Well maintained, modern, bright, on a property with a nice small lake and communications with the owners was superb! The ONLY negative comment, a suggestion really, is that a larger flat screen TV would be nice with some DVD playing capability. Saturday & Sunday football you know! We'd recommend this cottage to all. Way to go on this one.....

Peace and Tranquility in a Beautiful Setting

  • 5 of 5

The cottage by the pond is charming and welcoming, and I enjoyed every moment spent there. It is a hidden treasure that is actually close to shopping and restaurants, but seems to be in its own little world!!! It is cozy but spacious...views are lovely from every window. The bed was very comfortable and the kitchen well appointed in it's coziness. It would be charming in every season of the year. I look forward to more time there whenever I visit the Bennington area. One feels gently hugged when within it's walls...

Amazing cottage

  • 5 of 5

If you are looking for the perfect getaway I would recommend this property. The house was perfect for 2 or 4, the property was remote yrt close to the town of Bennington. The internet service was excellent. I can think of 1 thing that I would have needed. This will always be my go to rental whenever I am in Vermont.
