A beautiful cottage and amazing views. Such a warm welcome, felt right at home. Thank you so much for the little extras!! We have had a lovely stay, the weather has been beautiful too. We recommend the restaurant Dodd's in Ambleside. The jetty was lovely as well we had fun trying to skim stones when the boats weren't going past. Well thanks so much again, and we shall see you soon,

Fantastic

  • 5 of 5

From start to finish, our stay was absolutely brilliant. Robin has created a highly welcoming, clean and comfortable property, amidst the most peaceful and tranquil setting on the lake.

Particular highlights included; access to our own private beach on which we made fires and shared bottles of wine, the vast array of brilliant walks surrounding the cottage and easy access to other places of interest arround the lake district. The starter kit of coffee, tea, eggs and bacon was a very nice touch as well

We will most definitely return.

The cottage is beautiful, so are the surroundings. It feels like you're in the forest. We really enjoyed our stay there - quiet and peace. Would recommend it to anyone.

Great weekend

  • 5 of 5

Grooms Cottage is part of an annexed building at the rear of Belle Grange estate. Upon arrival Sharon and I were met by the owner Jackie who showed us around. Its well maintained, clean and well presented with beautiful furnishings. There were fresh farm eggs for us from the hens in the grounds, they were the best eggs ever.

She introduced us to Paul who is resident gardener and was a delight to meet.

Sharon and I live in a terrace in Liverpool with no garden but Sharon has a potted garden, much to Pauls delight she had him up the wall gaining knowledge on how to take cuttings, which soil to use, what plant to put where?? Ha ha, Paul was a diamond and was all too happy to help.

Grooms Cottage has privacy from the main house and vice versa while still having access to gardens. We were not disturbed.

The private waters edge area at the bottom of the garden was really nice and secluded.

We sat out each night overlooking the gardens and woods seeing an array of wildlife including birds and even some deer, wow a first for us.

Sharon and I cannot recommend Belle Grange highly enough, the accommodation, prized location and people we met make it one of the best weekends away we have had. We are already planning our return.

Thanks to Jackie for accommodating us and for your helpfulness, special thanks to Paul for being a great guy and taking time out going the extra mile in helping Sharon. You're a great guy. Oh, and for the posy you made for Sharon as we left, she was overjoyed.

Denis and Sharon, Old Swan, Liverpool, England.

Great weekend

  • 5 of 5

Belle Grange grooms cottage is part of an annexed building to the rear of the main house. It had all amenities to enjoy our stay in the lake district. The rooms were clean and well maintained. Fresh farm eggs from the chickens in the grounds were left in the kitchen for us and were the best ever!!

The location is fabulous, the remoteness is what we enjoyed the most, we saw wild deer in the forest, a full array of wild birds etc.

Jackie the owner was lovely, she welcomed us personally and showed us around, also introduced us to Paul the resident gardener who was an absolute delight to meet. Sharon and I live in a terraced house in Liverpool with no garden, but Sharon has a potted garden. She had Paul up the wall asking about gardening, how to take cuttings, what soil to use etc. Paul was really helpful and was really happy to help.

The access to the cottage allows Grooms Cottage residents to maintain privacy from the main house and vice versa, with access to the gardens etc.

I would highly recommend Belle Grange estate for anyone wishing to visit the lakes, my wife and I are already working out our next visit, the combination of the beautiful estate, the ideal location and the people we met all make this the best weekend break we have had.

Thanks to Jackie for our stay and a special thanks to Paul for sharing your knowledge, oh and the posy for Sharon as we left. Be back soon for sure,

Denis and Sharon. Old Swan Liverpool England .

Wonderful stay

  • 5 of 5

We had a lovely time at the beautiful Belle Grange cottage. A secluded getaway for myself and my other half, close to sensational views and wonderful gastro pubs such as the drunken duck inn. Jackie and her family have excelled themselves in hosting this gorgeous cottage, allowing everyone who stays to have a piece of the beautiful lake windermere.

Car: necessary

The Groom's Cottage is located in an estate that is on the western shore of Lake Windermere. A moments drive from the tiny village of High Wray, or 10 minutes to the busy village of Hawkshead - perfect for supplies and a choice of 5 pubs and restaurants! The cottage has views of the lake & the hills beyond. Ambleside is just 4 miles away too, although it takes around 10-15 minutes drive, due to the cottage being rurally located, and accessed by the local single lane country roads. In winter in extreme weather, please allow longer due to the possibility of poorer condition.

The western shore is much quieter than the busy east side, but with our private jetty, why not bring or hire a boat to enjoy the lake and it's facilities by water. Cottage is only 60 metres from door to shore!

The cottage is located in a large estate and is in an unspoilt, woodland setting. A car is essential. If isolation, peace and quiet, no cars, no people and rugged Lakeland countryside is to your liking, this is for you
