1 bedroom English Basement on Historic Lincoln Park in the heart of Capitol Hill

Our comfortable 1 bedroom (queen) 1 bathroom can accommodate 1-4 guests (additional queen size sofa bed/queen sized inflatable) The English Basement unit is located directly on historic Lincoln Park and within walking distance to Eastern Market, Metro, US Capitol, Union Station, National Mall, Museums and Monuments. The Historic District of Capitol Hill has an amazing vibrant commercial presence with restaurants, taverns and shopping among an otherwise leafy victorian row house community.

The rental comes with a fully equipped and updated kitchen, LCD HD television, updated bathroom and its own full sized laundry.

Being located on the Park there is a perfect outlet for lawn sports, playgrounds and fields as well as picnic areas and great walking/running areas.

Located on East Capitol Street and 11 blocks due east of the US Capitol you can get to the National Mall sights within a 15/20 minute walk. Eastern Market Metro is about a 10 minute walk if you'd prefer rail and Union Station is about a 20 minute walk. All of these destinations also have Capitol Bike Share stations if you'd rather bike.

Great Location

Good starting point for a trip to Washington, DC. 1/2 mile to Metro and Eastern Market using North Carolina Ave. Host provided umbrella which was useful as it rained several times while we were there. As noted in previous reviews, there is an active child upstairs but this did not bother us too early in the morning. Previous visitors had left Metro cards which often had money left on them and this will save you $2 for the purchase of the card itself. We left ours behind as well.

Great bed with a foam topper that did not become too hot. Fabulous pillows and lots of them. Air conditioning was supported by a fan as there is no central air.

Convenience stores were nearby but very limited in their offerings. We visited several excellent nearby restaurants across from Eastern Market.

DC at it's finest

This is the perfect spot for the full experience of Washington. We walked everywhere but there are buses. The park across the road adds to the peace of this place. Plenty to see and at easy reach. Shops, transport and lots of sightseeing. The unit is very clean and has everything you need for a great stay. The only negative is that people do live above and you do hear everything.

Comfy spot on the park!

Our family had a wonderful time in this apartment. The owners were super accomdating and allowed us to check in early. They also provide a great written guide to help you with the sites and the neighborhood restaurants and bars. Capitol Hill is fantastic and very walkable. The parking pass that came with the rental made parking so easy. Overall, a great place in a fantastic neighborhood.

SUPER PET FRIENDLY

We got this rental because it was supposed to be pet friendly. We love to travel with our 65 lb. lab mix. The fit was perfect. The park is literally across the street which made early morning and late night potty trips super convenient. While not "officially" an off leash dog park, there are many free lancing doggies enjoying the park throughout the day. There is traffic surrounding the park, but as long as your doggie does well in an off leash dog park setting, they should be fine. The dog parents were also SUPER friendly and very helpful with tips about where you can go with dogs. There are also lots of restaurants with outdoor seating in the area that are dog friendly. I would recommend investing in a doggy cooling coat and some camel backs though. It gets SUPER hot in the summer and there are nearly no dog friendly water areas to cool off. Even the shade is still warm for them. Having the camel back helped us hose down our doggy on breaks. On a related note, having a hose right outside the rental was convenient when our dog decided to roll in mud to cool off.

The rental itself was very clean, but small. It was perfect for my husband, me, and the dog. I think a couple small children would do well on the couch too. But you have to walk through the bedroom to get to the bathroom, so I wouldn't recommend for four adults. You could hear some bumps upstairs, but it was never at times where it woke me up. The parking pass was definitely helpful and I recommend timing your arrival for when people are naturally at work. Neighborhood felt super safe and cute. Easy walk to the tourist sites, or a affordable Uber/taxi if your not a walker. Lots of cute restaurants nearby and corner markets. You feel more like a local at this rental than a big hotel. I would definitely rent here again.
