The real Salento experience
If you look for a perfect place to experience the real Salento, this is the right place! The house is situated outside the city of Casarano next to the olive trees fields but at the same time 15 min.walking distance and 5 min by car to the centre where you find everything you need, nice pasticcerias with great Quarta coffee, shops, markets, hospital etc.
The house itself is equipped with everything you need, very comfortable beds, nice entrance from kitchen to the tarrace, great atmosphere inside with old antique furnitures, family pictures, newspapers.
I could write a lot about the place, but the most important are the owners Cosimo and Antonella that live from other side of the house, they are are real Salentinians, always ready to help and give information and tips where to go what to visit. We really felt wonderful and safe at the place, children loved 4 cats and one dog Peggy, they miss them every day!
I have to mention about the beautiful garden, where you can relax and feel in the air specific warmth of this climate, olive trees, flowers.
We were there in October and the weather was perfect ( around 26), expecially for us family with 2 little children.
Almost each day we were going to Torre Vado or Marina di Pescoluse to spend nice time at the beach and swim in the warm sea.Around 20 minutes to drive there.I would recommend to rent a car to vist all those great cities, Gallipoli,Galatina,Tricase and others.Every place is unique and worth seeing.
We hope to come back there soon with all our family so they could feel as well the climate of this wonderful paese ofSalento!
"August time at Villa Geko"
"We had a wonderful time at Villa Geko, our hosts were fantastic in providing all the necessary amenities we needed. The home was comfortable and equipped with all necessities. Definitely recommendable!"
"Villa del Geco is a nice...
"Villa del Geco is a nice apartment in a separate two-storey house surrounded by olive groves and vegetable patches. The villa is ideally situated in the hearth of Salento, at walking distance from Casarano where you find shops, bars and supermarkets. However, to reach the gorgeous beaches of Adrian and Ionian seas and to visit many prehistorical, architectural and cultural monuments of Salento, you need a car."
The apartment is spacious and well-equipped with domestic appliances. Because the villa is not only for holiday use, you will find a huge amount of furniture and decorative objects – how charming you may find them – that are quite useless for a holiday maker.
In late October, the weather was exceptionally warm and we could use a fire place only to warm up the apartment. In winter time, though, you need to switch on the heating system. There is no air condition and I guess that in high summer, the apartment can get pretty hot.
The best part of the Villa del Geco is its two gardens. The front garden is really beautiful with trees of all kind, shrubs and flowers. It is lovely to drink morning coffee in the kitchen porch and hear birds singing in the trees. During the sunset, you can use the porch or the bigger terrace in the back side of the house to watch bats chasing insects. In the backyard there is also a big kitchen garden where you are free to pick fruits and vegetables. In addition to a few hens, the villa houses a dog and three cats. These nice house pets are all well-behaved and will keep you company wherever you wander in the plot.
The hosts of the villa, Antonella and Cosimo, are extremely hospitable and nice people. Antonella treated us with homemade jams, olives, fruits, negroamaro wine and other local goodies, not to mention a delicious dinner including homemade pasta. Cosimo is a devotee guide from whom you could get practical tips and hear, at least in Italian, many great stories about Salentian life.
"We had a wonderful stay ...
"We had a wonderful stay in this beautiful home in the small town of Casarano. Excellent hospitality from the owners with fresh vegetables, fruits & eggs from the garden and great information about the region. The house is nicely furnished especially the kitchen is well equipped. The garden is beautiful and the porch is great to stay cool and relax during the hot afternoons.
I would recommend it to everyone who is looking for a relaxed stay in the underrated Salento."
Ci siamo trovati davvero bene
