There’s nothing quite like the outdoors. Whether you enjoy fishing, camping, biking, snowmobiling or hunting, it's all within your grasp. Looking out the front door of this beautiful cottage, you will see the breathtaking beauty of the Chippewa River. This cottage is great in any season.
Summertime is great for fishing, boating, kayaking, canoeing or paddle boating. Fall is a great time to take a bike ride on the Old Abe Bike Trail, fish on the Chippewa River or go hunting for local wildlife including squirrel, deer, bear, rabbits, fox, etc. just a short distance away.
Winter is great for snowshoeing, cross country skiing, snowmobiling, and downhill skiing a short distance away.
Spring is a great time to watch the woods come alive after winter. Enjoy family activities such as mountain biking, hiking, fishing and camp fires. Regardless of what season, or all, you intend to visit there is something for everyone.
Local attractions include Ice Age Trail, Leinenkugels Brewery, Brunet Island State Park and close proximity to Lake Holcolmbe and Lake Wissota. In the summer you are within minutes of the Country Fest and Rock Fest grounds and Jim Falls Sturgeon Festival
over Labor Day.
My wife and I are originally from Ladysmith, WI, which is about 30 miles north on highway 27. My father bought the cottage shortly after we got married. We lived in it for about 3 years before we built our own home next door. When my parents passed away, we inherited the property. We rented it on an annual basis until the last renter nearly destroyed it. I decided we would try the 'rent by the week' idea and see how it went. We are still fairly new at this and consider all suggestions to improve the cottage.
The view from the dining room and living room windows is beautiful and so peaceful.
Good time Good people!
This place is perfect. Mr. Peters is very welcoming, friendly, and outgoing. He went out of his way to make us feel welcomed. Myself and my three boys loved the cottage and the property. The sun sets over the river were amazing! We will return next year for sure!
Such a fabulous view! In this vacation rental, you are RIGHT ON THE WATER! The sunset is absolutely amazing!
My (now) fiance and I stayed for a few days over the Labor Day weekend just to get away. Little did I know that he was going to propose! Right at sunset on the second day, by the lovely fire that we started in the firepit just a few feet from the back door, he proposed to me (I SAID YES!)
If you're looking for a quiet place to recharge your batteries - this is the place! The kitchen is fully equipped so if you want to cook inside, you're ready to go! There is also a charcoal grill out back for your use. The house is completely furnished (all you have to bring is bedding and towels). The TV antenna picks up about 6 stations but you won't want to come in! It's very peaceful and did I mention that the view is SPECTACULAR!!
Norm and Sue were so friendly! We really enjoyed talking with them, and are already talking about coming back next year!
Our family of 8 (5 adults and 3 kids) stayed two nights in this cabin on the river. The outside isn't much to look at but the inside was quite adequate. Plenty of room for a couple of blow up mattresses along with the 2 beds. The owner said we could also set up a tent but the weather didn't cooperate. We enjoyed the fire pit and charcoal grill. Their grandchildren were there for the weekend and our grandchildren very much enjoyed having other kids to play with. We hope to came back again and stay longer!
We stayed at Norm and Sue's for a long weekend while in the area for a baseball tournament. Our children really enjoyed fishing off the dock. Our five year old even caught her first fish one afternoon!! The cabin is nice and spacious and had everything we needed to make us comfortable! The area is beautifully scenic with several family friendly things available within 30 minutes. Norm and Sue were very gracious hosts, and we certainly hope to visit again :)
Extremely nice and inviting couple! The cabin interior was very clean and well kept up. The view was awesome with a small dock right outside the back door looking out onto the Chippewa River. We took advantage of the paddle boat they offered us and took a lap around the river for a bit. Gorgeous sunsets, fishing, and campfires made for a great couple
of days. We went into the town of Cornell and everyone was so inviting and gave us tips
on what to do around the area. Would also be a great spot for winter snowmobile months.
