Hello and thank you for taking the time to look at my listing! I am a career military officer originally from Austin, Texas finishing my last few years of military service in the DC area. I hope you enjoy your time visiting our nation's capital, and if there is anything I can do to assist, please let me know!
David Cooper purchased this townhome in 2012
Historic Capitol Hill is truly a downtown suburb that offers all the excitement of the city yet retains a safe and small neighborhood feel. The residents here are a tight-knit group comprised mostly of families who possess a strong sense of community. Nestled within the long rows of neighborhood homes you will find pockets of excitement ranging from a multitude of eating establishments to DC's only remaining original public produce market, known as Eastern Market. And of course it's extremely close proximity to the Capitol and various Smithsonian museums puts you literally at the doorstep of our nation's history. It is an absolutely wonderful location for both residents and visitors alike!
No expense was spared in the complete refurbishment of this house. You will be staying in a historic home complete with modern amenities--1880's on the outside and 2010's on the inside! Location-wise everything you need (restaurants, groceries, shopping, Metro) and everything you want to see (Capitol, Library of Congress, National Mall, Eastern Market, Barracks Row, Smithsonian museums) are just a few blocks away and within easy walking distance. Live amongst the locals and truly feel at home during your visit!
We will definitely book again when we return to D.C.
Pictures and description provide a very accurate depiction of the place. David was very helpful and timely with communication. The unit was quiet even with people in the units below and above. It is tastefully decorated and prepared. Our family of 4 enjoyed the unit without complaints. We enjoyed the short walk to the National mall and the much shorter walk to the coffee shop and restaurants. We parked once and didn't move our vehicle until we packed out and left. This is definitely a return to locale.
Our family of four (mom, dad, 17-year old son, 20-year old daughter) thought the apartment in this row house was great! I would definitely recommend it.
It was lovely inside and outside. We did have to walk up a narrow, steep interior stairway to access this apartment. That was not a problem for us even carrying two heavy, big suitcases. Inside, the apartment was stocked with everything we needed, even small bottles of shampoo, lotion and soap. The kitchen had all of the dishes, pans and utensils we needed. The interiors are decorated stylishly and clean. It is also quiet. The apartment has the second floor bay window which holds a four-top table. This has an interesting view of a small park and street scene.
The location is great. We walked to the east end of the mall and to several neighborhoods with so many restaurants, diners and shops. During the day and at night, we always felt safe. Because of the cold snowy weather, we also wound up calling for a car on the last several days. But with this location, it was usually about a $5 ride.
This was a great apartment in a terrific location. I would recommend it for parties of four or fewer who want to be close to the national mall.
Our family of 5 stayed at this lovely place over 4th of July week 2016. We loved the home. Found the layout to be perfect for us. Beds were comfortable. Location was perfect. We walked almost everywhere (took the subway to the zoo though). We thoroughly enjoyed our stay!
The description of this home was not an exaggeration. Enjoyed our stay very much in this comfy and updated unit. Our friends live on adjacent block and were quite impressed with the remodel--they did not skimp. Owner was quick to respond to any inquiry and was very willing to accommodate our request. Would definitely go back and recommend to others.
Seward Square is the most perfect place to stay in DC. It is within walking distance to the Metro, fabulous eateries, pharmacy, small grocery stores, etc. Being able to walk out of the front doors and see the Capitol was absolutely amazing for us DC first timers. The home is exactly how it is described and pictured. There were 5 of us and we all fit perfectly in this home. I will definitely be coming back to DC and will most definitely be staying here again.
