Julia Shanbrom purchased this house in 2014
I bought property to connect with my 240 farm.
Access to lots of private hiking trails.
Stayed with my family. The house is simple, but clean. Nearest neighbor is about 75 yards away. About 150 paces from the front door through the woods to the lake. Water was very clean. Very nice for swimming. Lake is pretty large. Would take 45 minutes or so to row across. About 15 minutes drive to Rhinebeck, which is a pleasant town to stroll for an afternoon, or go to a restaurant.
One critique, the kitchen is quite basic. Not great for cooking more elaborate meals.
4 girlfriends and I stayed at this house for a weekend. It was clean, with an enclosed porch, nice dining room. All of us were very comfortable and enjoyed our stay. The best part was the trails on the property, one leading to a large pond/lake, and another trail led us to a small pond with wildflowers growing all around it. One friend walked far enough and found the farm, but did not go in. About 10 minutes from Rhinebeck. An overall nice stay, worth the money and great for large family or groups.
This property was in a nice quiet location and very convenient to Rhinebeck. The house was very clean and spacious for our large group of 6.
The house was pretty unexceptional - old furniture and really very little sense of design. It felt like a house that wasn't used much at all. We though we were going to be right on the lake judging by the picture but instead the lake was a 5 minute walk down the hill. I'm not complaining about the walk; it's just we though we would wake up and be right on the lake.
Lynette, the caretaker was great - very strong on the communication.
I guess I would just urge the owner to put a little more love into his rental - stock some basics like coffee and butter, leave some pamphlets about the local area, put a little art up on the walls. Show you care.
at the end of a very long narrow road, this cute house was suitable for my family weekend. There are two bathrooms upstairs and one downstairs. The bedrooms were comfortable. There were nice hiking trails, including one to the lake. The house is located nicely in the Rhinebeck/Red Hook area. Great for Fall activities. Internet and TV worked well as did the heat. It is quite remote which is important to know in advance. There are houses nearby but its a good 10-15 minutes from a 'real' road. PS we had a TON of toilet paper, but on the critical side: more family room furniture (we brought in some screen room chairs for the weekend and returned them) ; would have liked some comfort staples like salt/pepper and more trash bags. Also the dishwasher was funky. The owner and manager were great and helpful. We really had no problems and were even able to bake an apple pie.
we were in Rhinebeck for a family wedding and we needed a place for 7 people. The house was clean, but furniture old, one old television and the most annoying thing - no toilet paper, no garbage bags and no place flagged for recycling. I spoke to the house manager two days before we left and she said "everything" we would need would be there! Not quite! We could have certainly brought the above items if we knew! It served our purposes for what we needed.
There is a bowling alley nearby
Dutchess County Fairgrounds are about 15 minutes away
Omega is about 10 minutes by car.
