Photos and Description of this 3 bedroom holiday farmhouse in Vernon Township - Meadowburn Farm's Yellow House

3 Bedroom, 1.5 Bathroom, 6 Sleeps

Come stay at Meadowburn Farm in a most charming Yellow House! Located in the heart of 590 acres of preserved farmland just 55 miles from New York City, Meadowburn’s Yellow House is the perfect retreat into pastoral countryside. It has 3 bedrooms sleeping up to 6 people, 1.5 baths, a kitchen, dining room and living room. The view from the dining room and back patio has been declared the most spectacular view on the farm.

Please read our full description so you know exactly what to expect.

The Yellow House:

The house is approximately 1000 sq. ft., and has been recently updated. The first floor features a kitchen, dining room, living room, half bath, and bedroom with a double bed. The second floor includes a full bath and two bedrooms, one with two twin beds, and one with a queen bed. The back patio basks in light from morning until dusk.

The Yellow House is situated at the edge of Meadowburn’s active farmstead. You might see cows grazing and perhaps a tractor pulling a cart of hay on a weekday. You will hear chickens clucking, ducks quaking, and birds chirping. On a summer eve you will see fireflies dancing about and bright stars in the sky. The large backyard overlooks barns and rolling meadows, with views of Wawayanda State Park in the distance. Please note that this is not a good place for someone who does not appreciate seeing and hearing the daily activity of a working farm.

The house is equipped with Wi-Fi, direct TV, and has a gas BBQ, washer/dryer, dishwasher, central heat and A/C window units. Being a farm house with the electric service coming through the woods, we have been known to occasionally have power outages. Should this occur you will be reimbursed for the period the power is out. Candles, battery lights and extra blankets are provided.

The Location:

Meadowburn Farm is located just 55 miles outside of New York City at the southern tip of the Hudson Valley between Warwick, NY, and Vernon, NJ. The Yellow House sits at the edge of Meadowburn’s central dairy farmstead, within 590 acres of farm and woodlands.

Across the road from the Yellow House are the historic gardens of Helena Rutherfurd Ely, which are listed on the National Register of Historic Places. The gardens can be toured with prior arrangement.

The Wawayanda Creek winds though the property, and is a great place to catch a trout or two. There are vast meadows, woods, and country roads to walk.

Wonderful fall getaway!

  • 5 of 5

My boyfriend and I, and another couple, stayed at the farmhouse for the weekend. It was great that we were able to check in anytime after 12 pm (and stay until 5 pm on our departure day)- that really let us maximize our time there.

The little yellow house was exceptionally clean and had all of the basic conveniences that we needed. We enjoyed cooking meals in and relaxing.

Must do:

-Pennings farm has a GREAT farmers market/ eatery/ and pumpkin/apple picking. It is a great place to pick up local groceries for the rental (apple pie bacon-yum).

- The Grange restaraunt. Farm to table deliciousness, but make a reservation!

- Explore the farm! We had rainy weather, and only explored on our last day, but the view from the dining room was beautiful.

My only complaint is that I did not find the beds to be very comfortable, but that is subjective and did not stop me from giving this stay a five star review! We hope to return, thank you for sharing your farm with us :)

Good times!

  • 5 of 5

We were looking for a respite from city life and found this house and environs a perfect country interlude. The house is extremely comfortable, well laid out, clean and private, with wonderful bucolic views. Enjoyed the land, the gardens, the working farm-doings and the animals. All this surprisingly close to Manhattan. Would happily return.

P.S. Absolutely include a visit to the Bellvale Creamery Farms, if not for the ice cream, for the BEST views of all!

Wonderful getaway!~

  • 5 of 5

We stayed for 3 nights. The house was perfect, location was quiet and close enough to town. The kids loved seeing the chickens, cows and goats and helping the groundskeeper with the animals. Located minutes from Warwick, NY and the center of Vernon.

Beautiful, relaxing vacation

  • 5 of 5

We stayed for a weekend with our three children and it was heavenly. The house is spotlessly clean, warm, and inviting, with everything you need to enjoy your stay. Our kids loved saying hello to the cows and goats each morning and watching the chickens. We went down to the creek to explore and everyone had a ball. Wifi and television were a nice plus when the kids were tired from roaming around in the fields and going into Warwick for ice cream. We will definitely be back, next time with our fishing rods so we can make better use of that gorgeous creek!

Beautiful stay at The Yellow House

  • 5 of 5

We spent 3 days out of our 10 day vacation and it was by far the best part of our trip. Adorable charming farm house with all the convinces of home. We can't wait to come back one day.
