I am originally from Florida and grew up on the salt water. I recently found an old 8mm movie of me rowing a dinghy when I was 3 years old, although it was tied to the shore of the Anclote River. I lived in this house in Horseshoe Beach for 18 years; I now live in my childhood home on the river.
Ramona purchased this House in 1996
Why Ramona chose Horseshoe Beach
The house is located on a canal with easy access to the Gulf of Mexico and some of the best fishing in Florida. Having lived here for 18 years, the home is designed and equipped to be lived in - not simply a place to stay.
What makes this House unique
Horseshoe Beach is one of the few remaining towns along the Gulf Coast that is still quaint, quiet, and laid back. The fishing, both inshore and offshore is great. Dixie County has approximately 40 miles of coastline with only 1 mile in private ownership; the rest is sawgrass and salt marshes.

Lovely Cottage for a get away
Well kept with plenty of room. Room for your boat to be parked which is awesome. Loved having our own private space. Our dogs enjoyed their walks around this quaint little town. Enjoyed the peace & quiet. Only negatives, which were not bad, no TV only movies and it takes a bit to get to nearest grocery. Even our 15 year old did not complain. We plan on using this place again next year for our annual vacation. : )
It was a great get-away!
We truly enjoyed our time at Horseshoe Beach, it was totally different than any place we have been in the past. The cottage served our needs well and was well stocked with anything we needed which was appreciated in that we cooked a Thanksgiving dinner there. Thank you for sharing your vacation get-away!
We didn't go, but....
Our reservation was supposed to be our exit strategy from Hurricane Irma. We live on the east coast of Florida. But Mother Nature had other ideas and turned Irma. However, we have stayed at Ramona's before and we love her and her house. It's in a great location right across from the marina, it's spacious and comfortably furnished, has a great kitchen for cooking the catch of the day, and is pet-friendly. We will definitely go back. It's our go-to house for Horseshoe Beach.
Everything worked. Beds were comfy. House was clean upon arrival.

Great place to relax and scallop
Horseshoe beach is truly a hidden gem. This was our first trip here and we will definitely be back one day. The house was clean and well equipped. We have absolutely no complaints about our stay.
The cottage had everything we needed. Enjoyed reading its history.
Sleepy little fishing town until the marina /Jakes Pub winds up on Saturday night... fun to sit on the wrap around deck and watch the golf carts full of teens come and go. We got 1/2 our scallop limit (more than I cared to clean). Beauriful sunsets, walked to the restaurant down the street. Great breeze and hangout by the dock. We will be back. Very relaxing. Ramona is wonderful.
