Hummingbird Haven on Virginia's Largest Lake

Bedrooms 3
Property type house

About the property

Lakehouse, 3 Bedrooms + Convertible bed(s), 2 Baths, (Sleeps 6-8)

Enjoy watching the hummingbirds feed at this newly renovated lakefront home on Virginia’s largest lake. Hummingbird Haven has beautiful views of one of the world’s best year-around freshwater fishing lakes with over 800 miles of shoreline and 50,000 acres of water. Kerr Lake/Buggs Island Reservoir is surrounded by more State and Federal Parks than private property.

Enjoy virgin timber that time has forgotten. Rock in the double swing or rocking chairs while watching the sun fade over the untouched forest. View bald eagles soaring daily from the nest across the lake. Pull your boat (rental available) right up to your private dock and barbecue at water’s edge. This treasure is located in a private subdivision with miles of paved roads, walking trails and a private airstrip for your arrival by plane. View deer, squirrels, eagles, ducks, geese and hummingbirds from your dining room table. Golf at the local golf course located approximately two miles away. Drive to excellent restaurants and antique shops in the quaint little town of Clarksville located less than ten minutes away. Tour historic Prestwood Plantation or visit Occoneechi State Park visitor’s center to view Indian artefacts and history. Don’t miss the fall season for excellent striper fishing and spectacular views as the leaves change colors to bright yellows, oranges and reds.

Great view, House was ok

  • 3 of 5

The views were definitely one of a kind. The century 21 staff was great and helpful. The house itself was clean, but it had a musty smell inside. The beds weren’t the best. We didn’t use the kitchen but it was clean. It was pricey but the money was in the view and location.

Owner's Response: Thank you for the review and comments. Do you know if the downstairs A/C and dehumidifier were turned on? I will pass your comments to C21 and have them address it. Also, the mattresses are on the list to be replaced soon. Jimmy

Very soothing

  • 5 of 5

This house is perfect for those of us who want a relaxing getaway without a lot of bells and whistles. It has everything we needed and we were very comfy here. Having grown up in this area, I loved the feeling of being in a house like the ones I visited over the years. Nice porch with rocking chairs, a private dock, birds singing, great view, quiet, neighborhood dogs coming to say hi ... so nice. Gas grill, well-stocked kitchen, good appliances...we couldn’t be happier.

Nice rustic home with plenty of parking space for boat and trailer.

  • 4 of 5

Very nice property with plenty of parking space for our boat and trailer. Easy access. Nice rustic home with a great view of the lake. Plenty of room with two bedrooms upstairs and one down. The mattress in the master suite was a bit firm for us, so we chose the other bedroom which had a topper on the mattress making it a little less firm. Also could use a couple more blankets that fit the beds. Quiet and peaceful location with a dock for our boat. The only negative was that when we were there in October the lake was at a very low level, 7 feet below normal, and we could not use the dock with the house since there was only 14 inches of water at the end of the dock! It could have been pushed out further to give us access but was not, and it was too heavy for us to do it. So we had to rent a slip at the Clarksville marina for the week which was an added expense. This was disappointing, but we understood that the lake was unusually low this year. Otherwise, we thoroughly enjoyed our stay and would return if the dock is usable.

Owner's Response: Rea, Thank you for your review. I am very sorry to hear that you had a problem with the dock. I pay a monthly fee to have the dock monitored and it should have been moved as the lake level changes. I will be sure to post the number on the refrigerator of the company that monitors it. They will come and move it if it is needed. In 11 years of renting, you are my first to have this problem. Thanks again for your stay. Jimmy

Great family space.

  • 3 of 5

Even thought the place really needs a deep cleaning we had a wonderful family time. Nice big kitchen with table to do family games after dinner. It was my first time driving a boat and the dock was easy to maneuver. Thank you for sharing your home with us.

Owner's Response: Thank you for your review. I live a couple hours away and took a ride up to check it out after reading your review. You were correct and I discussed this with the cleaning service. I spent 10 hours doing a deep clean that was definitely needed. If you come again, there is a phone number on the refrigerator to call the cleaning service. Please call them and they will come out and correct any problems. I am sorry it wasn't as clean as it should have been and have been assured, it will be addressed in the future. Jimmy
