About the property

Relax and unwind in this comfortable house with spectacular views of the bay

We welcome you to Sea View Haven and all it has to offer.

Sea View Haven is all about taking it easy! Relax and unwind....

This house is located in a peaceful and private setting with stunning views of Ballinskelligs Bay and the surrounding mountains. The living and dining room command a panoramic views of Reenroe beach, Waterville and Ballinskelligs Bay. It is the place where you can relax and enjoy the views no matter what the weather.

The kitchen has a breakfast bar area and is fully equipped with all modern appliances including a Rangemaster cooker.

Situated on a secluded 1 acre site, 2,000 sq feet, the house sleeps 8 people comfortably. Two of the four bedrooms are ensuite and located upstairs. The large main bathroom is located on the ground floor and has a whirlpool bath and walk in power shower. There are also two twin bedrooms on the ground floor. The utility room is large and comes equipped with a washing machine and separate dryer as well as plenty of storage space.

Outside there is a lovely private garden with a patio area - a beautiful setting to have your lunch or enjoy a sundowner of your choice after a day of exploring. There is also a lovely veranda where you can sit and enjoy the surrounding country side of sea, mountains and green fields. So just relax and enjoy the superb views - it doesn't get much better than this!

Beaches, shops and pubs are only a short drive away. Sea View Haven is suitable for couples and families - anyone who loves nature, walks on the beach and exploring the countryside.

On a clear night the stars overhead are spectacular. The area is part of the International Dark Sky Reserve and one of only 3 Gold Tier Dark-Sky Reserves in the World. That means you get to experience an amazing night sky full of stars and all from the comfort of Sea View Haven.

Whether you are relaxing in the living room or enjoying breakfast on the veranda Sea View Haven offers you wonderful views sea and mountains. It is these views coupled with the peace and tranquility of the setting that our guests comment on as being one of the highlights of their stay. In the evening you can watch the lights of Waterville flicker across the bay as the sun sets and enjoy a glass of wine or two.

Beaches, Water Sports, Fishing:

Sea View Haven is just a few minutes drive from the 'Wild Atlantic Way'. The beaches in the vicinity are some of the best in Kerry. Reenroe beach is the closest and you can see it clearly from the house. It is only a couple of minutes drive away and is great for walking, surfing, horse riding, fishing, swimming and great for building sand castles too! Surfing classes are held here regularly, weather permitting.

Ballinskelligs beach is another great beach only 5 minutes drive away. Boats can be hired locally for sea angling trips and there are plenty of operators to choose.

Walking, Hill Walking, Cycling:

There are many local walks and cycling routes of various levels and abilities, all with great views of the country side. Bicycles can be hired locally in Caherciveen and the house has a large utility room/garage area where you can store bikes and fishing rods.

We highly recommend the Emlagh Loop walk which is easily accessible from the Sea View Haven. This is a National Loop Walk which takes you though the countryside and along Reenroe beach.

The Bolus Head walk in Ballinskelligs has fantastic views overlooking St. Finan’s Bay and the Skellig Rocks. Along the way you will visit the Cill Rialaig Famine Village, Cill Rialaig Artist’s Retreat, and the early Christian ruins of Cill Rialaig monastic settlement with Oratory and perhaps stop off at the Cill Rialaig Art Gallery and Cafe in Dungeagan Village or Barbara's coffee shop in Ballinskelligs for refreshments. There are many other walks in the area, including Bray Tower and Geokaun Mountain in Valentia, details of which are provided in our guide book in the house or from the local tourist office.

Skellig Michael and Star Wars Film

A trip to the world famous Skelligs Rock UNESCO herritage site is a must. This is also a location for the recent Star Wars film. Boats leave during the Summer months from Ballinskelligs and Portmagee - a short drive away.

The Skellig Rock is now also famous for its Hollywood connection. It is in the recently released Star Wars movie The Force Awakens. You can easily organise a trip locally to this famous rock while staying at Sea View Haven.

Other Local Attractions and Eating Out:

There is plenty to see and do locally. Visit Valentia Island to see the Slate Quarry, Grotto and Light House or try candle making with the kids. Tour the Skellig Ring and the Ring of Kerry. Visit Skellig Chocolate factory in St. Finans Bay (The Glen) and sample their award winning choclate.

Cill Rialaig pre-famine village is located in Ballinskelligs and Cill Rialaig Art Gallery and Cafe is located in Dun Geagan village which is two miles away. You will be spoilt for choice if you wish to go hill walking or cycling and there are many archaeological sites of interest in the area.

There are plenty of places to choose from for eating out from cafes to pub food to gourmet restaurants. Fresh seafood is a specialty in many restaurants and pubs. Many pubs have traditional Irish music and dancing nights which are well worth going to see.

A stay at Sea View Haven is an excellent way to sample the delights of what Ballinskelligs, Waterville, The Glen and the surrounding areas have to offer.

About Maria & John King

We grew up in the area and then moved to other parts of Ireland over the years to work. Ever opportunity we get we come back to visit this wonderful location and in 2005 we decided to build a holiday home here.

Maria & John King purchased this house in 2006

Why Maria & John King chose Ballinskelligs

Of all the places we have travelled there is nowhere quiet like the location of Red Cliff House. It's beautiful views and proximity to beaches and wonderful walks are what attracted us to this place. There is no better view, we think, then the one from Sea View Haven. We hope that you too will enjoy our wonderful holiday home. Welcome to Sea View Haven! We hope you enjoy staying at this wonderful bit of heaven as much as we do. Céad míle fáilte - a hundred thousand welcomes!

What makes this house unique

Put simply we fell in love with the area around Sea View Haven because of it's amazing views and quiet location. From the living room, the patio and veranda you can see mountains, sea/beach along with forestry and fields. This view of nature is simply wonderful and we think it is the best view in the area!

The other unique aspect to Sea View Haven is the privacy. It has its own private road access. So that means no noisy cars passing by the house entrance or busy roads close to the entrance - making it safe for children to play outside the house. Peace and relaxation in abundance..... :)

Guestbook comments from the owner

Cormfortable, well equipped house with super views. Lovely, remote location but short drive to beaches/shops/pub. The trade off of having to jump into the car is more than worth it for the treat of being in the countryside and the freedom it gives the children.

Great launch pad to travel the coastline from Valentia Island easily up to Caherdaniel. Besides the great beaches - loads to do in the area...

The house is exactly as described and lived up to our expectations. If we revisit the area, I would have no hesitation in staying here again..

What a wonderful surprise!

  • 5 of 5

We arrived in the dark, with no idea of the view, Spectacular! The home has a great layout, we cozied up by the fire at night and then retreated to our separate bedrooms. We took day trips each day, based on Maria's suggestions, fabulous! Quaint and quiet, loved it.

Lovely house in a lovely peaceful area.

  • 5 of 5

The house was well equipped and with ample space for our party (5 adults and 2 children. Big grassed area for children to let off steam and sample parking. The house was clean and tidy, felt fairly new and nicely decorated. There were a couple of minor technical issues but the owners were very helpful and friendly and had them sorted with no problem. Thee are a couple of beaches nearby the one at Ballinskelligs, only a few minutes drive away has lifeguards and a beach cafe and a small ruined castle to explore. All in all we had a great week and would love yo return one day.
