Little Red Cabin In The Woods

Bedrooms 1
Property type cabin

About the property

Studio Cabin In Serene Location Minutes From Lake

Rustic studio cabin with full kitchen, bath, two decks and a fire pit. Believe this is one of the cabins moved from the original town site when Detroit Dam was built. This is a cute and quaint cabin, but doesn't have the detail one might expect from a more expensive rental or from someone's personal vacation rental. Simply a peaceful venue to relax after a busy day on the lake or in the mountains. We're less expensive then the hotels in town and offer very nice privacy. Note no wifi or cable TV. Great cell coverage. Smart TV/DVD/VCR and lots of movies.

Why Aaron chose Detroit

On dead end road in woods, yet minutes to the lake.

Guestbook comments from the owner

This is a really simple cabin. Not many amenities other then a studio home environment. Location great on dead end road surrounded by forest with nice private decks. No Wifi or satellite TV. Just TV/VCR/DVD and smart TV. Sits above the city of Detroit, so great access to city, lake, mountains, hotsprings, etc.. Most everyone loves it, but it's not a boutique accommodation - though cute and mountain cabin like. Great value for those not wanting to stay in a local hotel and those wanting some privacy. Think family cabin the woods.

Nice cabin(s) at end of a quiet street

  • 5 of 5

We arrived just after sunset and had a difficult time finding the Cabin (was at end of street then take a right towards an old barn, hidden off to the left was the place). It was too dark and there were no house numbers with minimal light so I called Aaron whom answered and helped us locate the Cabin. We actually were scheduled to stay in this small cabin (like studio apartment) with deck in front and back but we ended up in Cabin next door (larger). Aaron was very quick to respond and the accommodations were great. Would definitely consider staying here again. Here are some notes about the larger Cabin next door which Aaron also owns. Like a split level with several bedrooms and stairways with accommodations for 6-8+ people (not sure futon would be that comfortable) - futon, 2 queen or full beds, 2 bunk beds, pull out couch. Tallest person in our family is 5'8" so we had no problems but if one were about 6' or taller they might hit their head on bathroom doorway and possibly the ceiling (if you are 6'6" I'm guessing). So a warning for tall people. Lots of older, unique tchotchkes around which gives the place an interesting feeling. Has great fire-pit and place to hang out right outside the cabin with nice view of hills. Quiet when we were there - early September. Reasonably priced too. Has a small AC for upstairs and several TV's to watch DISH network programming (didn't see any local channels though). Lots of board games, VHS, DVD and game machine too.

It was okay.

  • 3 of 5

This is a cute, small cabin at the end of the road. It looks out over the forest on two sides. The host gave us a better than average deal, and allowed us to stay only one night. He was very accommodating. That being said, here were some things we wish were different. The primary bed was a futon, and was pretty hard. It was stated that the deck was very private. The primary deck is overlooked by the neighbor's driveway and deck. There were no curtains on any of the windows. There is no air conditioning, and when we were there it was very hot. The top surface on the table was buckling and starting to come off. Some big positives are location and atmosphere, Another is the kitchen--it's pretty nice. The pleasant, accommodating owner was another plus.

Quite area tucked into the woods

  • 4 of 5

Quite area tucked in the trees. Front door a bit of a challenge to lock and unlock, but that may have only been an issue due to age and disability. Bed on first floor is a futon so is a little hard to sleep on, but the couch is so comfortable, there is a bed on the second floor (did not use that bed due to have to climb a ladder to access). Still all in all, very restful area, wide selection of movies (and brought my own too), kitchen has all the items you would ever need to prepare meals. Back deck looks over the woods, had visits with a bald eagle and several other types of birds too.
