The master suite is on the upper level and has a king bed, twin-over-twin bunk beds, LCD TV and a huge private bathroom with a jacuzzi tub. The lower floor has two bunk rooms each with three full-over-full bunks, two full bathrooms, another bedroom with a queen bed and twin-over-twin bunk beds, kitchenette/laundry room and two covered patios. Each bunk room has a private exterior entrance. The spacious yard has a swing set/play fort, fire pit with lots of benches and an amazing view of the Blue Ridge. The two bedrooms and two bunk rooms can each accommodate a family.
Great property for the money. Easy to find with GPS and not too far away, but still feels real secluded and remote (in a good way) once you're there. All necessary furnishings and supplies were readily available. We took our church youth group for a short retreat and had a wonderful time. Great layout with lots of beds available. More than adequate space for groups of 18+.
There were a few entertainment amenities advertised with the house that were either broken down or malfunctioning a bit at the time of our visit. Needs to be fixed, but didn't take much away from the overall experience. IMPORTANT: Despite info in the FAQ section (which I guess applied only to the other properties managed by same group), this property does NOT have a propane grill. You will need to bring your own charcoal if you want to grill out.
All in all, a great experience. A property I will probably rent again and would definitely recommend to others.
I almost don't want to share how great it was because it was amazing and I want this 'secret' for myself, but I will anyways. This place was clean and frigid upon arrival. There were more than ample beds with incredibly soft blankets. Everything was as advertised with every amenity we could have needed. Great views and very secluded mountain stay.
There were concerns from another guest over the bugs, but we didn't have an issue. There were bugs outside, and a few made their way in the house, but it is a house in the mountains, soooooooo I am not sure what the other people who complained were expected. The house was very clean and once inside you wouldn't know there were bugs lurking outside. In short, don't worry about the bad reviews, this place was phenomenal and you won't be disappointed!
We had such a fantastic time at Sunridge! The location was perfect; the home was just right for our four families. The teenagers had lots of fun exploring the woods. The younger kids loved the playset & tire swing. Toddlers had a blast just following the other kids around :) Us "big kids" were able to sit & relax, fix huge meals, and spend time just catching up without worrying about the safety & security of the kids. We all stayed up much later than usual, and slept in, too! The family bedrooms enabled us all to have some private space, which was really nice :) The home is a true gem in the hills of the Shenandoah Valley!
This is the perfect home for families with children. We had kids from 2-16 and they all had a ball!! Plenty of activities for kids to do, a beautiful house, but not so ornately decorated that you had to worry about breakage or damage. The house is huge and has outdoor access to every bedroom. Quiet and isolated. WIFI is available but not strong and cell services was spotty, which for us was perfect. Well stocked kitchen.
If I were to try to please 19 people from age 2 to age 75 I could never pick a better place than our house rented by Cardigan cabins! I am sooooo very happy with the communication between myself and my host. Everything from phone calls before we arrived and the property when we arrived was EXCELLENT! THANK YOU SO MUCH.
I had a great stay at Sunridge Retreat this past weekend. We had a group of 15 and there was tons of space for everyone and although it was a little cold for April we made the most of the hot tub and the fire pit! It was very secluded and the views were incredible!
I had a pleasant stay at the Sunridge Retreat over the holiday weekend. The website covered all of the essential details and there were no surprises when I arrived. The site was clean and all set up for us upon arrival. Communication with the owner was always clear and prompt.
Sunridge Retreat is secluded and has a stunning view. There are plenty of options for your party to stay entertained (without a television or computer). Even with a large group it was possible to sneak away for some privacy if you desired. I'd certainly recommend staying here.
