Superb location (in the centre of the Old Town of Tallinn)
Thank you again very much for the stay! It was a pleasure to live in your apartment.
This apartment is simply perfect! Extremely well equipped and although we were only two people (brother and sister!) it would easily and comfortably accommodate four.
It was far more spacious than we had thought, and in a superb location. We must have walked past it four times a day on our way round and round Tallinn!
There is an excellent supermarket which really does have everything you could need about a three minute walk away and there are simply more restaurants, bars and cafes than you would imagine possible within a very short walking distance.
The apartment was spotlessly clean and the direction perfect. We were met on our arrival and given two sets of keys which is always a huge bonus. There was even a washing machine!
I simply couldn't fault our stay and will recommend it to everyone I know!
We stayed for a week in this clean comfortable apartment over Easter 2016. We found it warm (outside temperatures varied between zero and 12 celsius during our stay) and spacious, with all the things we needed (cable tv, hairdryer, cooking utensils etc). The landlord’s family lived in the flat next door and were unfailingly helpful and courteous in dealing with our queries. We had wanted an apartment because there was a small group of us and we felt it would give us more flexibility. We were very happy with our choice of accommodation and would recommend it to anyone.
The city centre is about five kms from the airport. The number two bus (eleven minute journey) costs 2 euros, although this means walking the last kilometre.
The apartment is within the Old Town so nothing is very far away. The only time we found this a disadvantage was on the Friday night when people were walking past, chattering, in the early hours. The Solaris shopping centre is nearby, and has a large grocery store as well as clothes shops, eateries and a cinema showing English language films.
Our first full day in Tallinn was a Monday, when many of the attractions are closed. The Information Centre (very close by) recommended the free walking tour run by local students, which takes place daily from outside the Info Centre, from 12 noon. We found this a highlight of our stay. The tour, by Martin, lasted two hours, and covered all the main buildings of the Old Town, and taking us up Toompea Hill to get good views of the skyline. Martin told us anecdotes about the history of the Estonian people. I have been on ‘free tours’ before (Paris), which were fairly bland, and followed by a hard sell for tips. This was nothing like that; I really felt Martin was very informative, and genuinely delighted if anyone gave him a tip at the end.
On other days we visited the city walls, the city museum, and ventured further afield to the Open Air Museum (only partially open in the winter, and quite muddy, but interesting) and Kadriorg Park (Palace of Peter the Great). Best of all was the Museum at Sea Plane Harbour which had a real submarine and ice breaker ship to visit.
We found restaurants in Tallinn mostly good. We missed a trick in not checking Tripadvisor until a few days into our stay, when we found that the top rated restaurant was just over the road at 16 Rataskaevu. It was fully booked. Our best (and cheapest) meal was probably in The Dubliner, just outside the city walls.
stayed here for 4 nights, right in center of the old town, could not fault this well equipped, bright, modern apartment. Had a great time in Tallinn, plenty to see and do, I recommend the sea plane museum.
It was a pleasure to meet Hunt Risto, a true gentleman.
Hope to return soon
