We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at the Valley View home. We arrived during a chilly November rain and, having forgotten to bring umbrellas, were pleased to pull into a carport and get all our luggage into the house protected by an overhang all the way to the front door. We walked in and immediately saw the beautiful round deck and breathtaking view of a redwood forest. We both said WOW as we opened the door. The design of the house is so clever, taking full advantage of the amazing valley view and creating a comfortable living arrangement. The kitchen in the round is especially interesting architecturally. The house was clean and spacious and the heating system warmed it up very quickly. We spent the next several days relaxing in the mornings with our coffee and tea and having a soak in the hot tub (after the first day, we had great weather), then going off to explore. There are several beautiful beaches just a short drive away, and we drove to Half Moon Bay one day along scenic route 1 which only took 1 hour each way. There are some good restaurants in Scotts Valley, and some great ones in Santa Cruz and Capitola. Both Santa Cruz and Capitola are fun towns for exploring and shopping. The property manager for Valley View was available by phone when we had a question, though once we got settled there was no need to call. It was the best of both worlds - a quiet, private, cozy home in the redwood forest and a short drive from everything we needed and fun things to do. We've stayed in several VRBOs and this was, by far, our favorite and most special so far. Perfect for a romantic getaway. We hope to be back.
Stayed in a great house, could really see the Frank Lloyd Wright design throughout the house. Loved the piano, played Fur Elise for the first time in 40 years. The hot tub, really nice, the view fantastic, loved the deck and redwoods, really reminded us of our 21 years in Boulder Creek. Will stay again when we visit the Bay Area, close to everything, and no steps, only one, great for a person with knee problems. Really quiet, loved the sunsets and the fog in the am. Thanks for leaving breakfast in the frig. As we got in at 2 am. Did not hear or see the neighbors, so very quiet. Great BBQ, which we used, and mostly just the peace of this older gem. They just don't build homes like this anymore, all the glass, all the mirrors, and that fireplace. We just wish it got cold enough for a fire, my husband loved all the TV stations, in Costa Rica you don't have all the choices, so he had a little bit of good old american tv. Maps were good, system to get in and out good, very good communication. Thanks again, Tuvalu
We loved this beautiful and architecturally interesting home in the Santa Cruz Mountains surrounded by redwoods and located a short drive from the Santa Cruz coastline. We filled our weeks stay alternating between restful times enjoying the peace and quiet at the house with sightseeing in Santa Cruz and the surrounding coastline and mountain area parks. We had some cold and windy days during our stay so the fireplace was a welcome plus. We even found a slightly warmer afternoon to enjoy the jacuzzi.
Wonderful vacation home up high in the Redwood forest. We enjoyed it very much. Took in many of the mid coast sights of Cali. Very centrally located home. Hope to return again. Lovely home and beautiful deck and hot tub. Thanks you for the breakfast foods. We enjoyed the great kitchen in the round.
It was so peaceful and private. Neat house style!
There was even breakfast stuff for us! What a great way to start off.
Loved this place and would recommend it highly!
We have stayed at Valley View numerous times and always want to return to its peace and solitude. My mother especially enjoyed her visit with us here and preferred staying at the "house in the forest" than going out to explore the area. On each visit everything has been clean and in working condition.
We love the Scotts Valley Market just down the hill. It is on the pricey side but when on vacation we love to pick up salads from the salad bar and hot entrees or items from the deli for dinner. And, it is really hard to pass up the individually packaged desserts.
We have found two local restaurants we recommend: Maya Mexican Restaurant at 3115 Scotts Valley Drive where we can highly recommend the Carnitas and Malone's Grille at 4402 Scotts Valley Dr. where we enjoyed their half-size burgers and sweet potato fries. Sooooo good! We will have dinner there on our next visit! They have a very nice outdoor patio with what looks like cozy ambiance at night.
The location of then home is also a great feature. It is very easy to take day trips anywhere between Half Moon Bay and Carmel.
