Love this house!

  • 5 of 5

I spent four nights in this house with another family. Everyone agrees that this house is much better than shown in the picture!

House is clean and well maintained. Easy to communicate with Glen and he is responsive.

Located in quiet area between US101 and Pacific ocean. Minutes to grocery shops like Walmart, Costco, and Safeway, and close to Olympic National Park.

If I plan to visit this area again, I will consider this house to stay again!

Gorgeous, spacious and well-designed home

  • 5 of 5

We stayed at the Great House for four wonderful days and nights. The home is very bright and comfortable with a truly stunning and immense, great room, dining and kitchen room area. It is very modern with a lovely design. The outdoor space is excellent featuring an amazing designer garden, huge deck, covered swimming pool and hot tub. The property is very private and easily accessible to Port Angeles, Sequim and Olympic National Park.

First trip to the Pennisula and it was PERFECT

  • 4 of 5

My adult kids and I thoroughly enjoyed our first trip the area. The house was just as described. The intent was each of us to have plenty of space - which we did. The down side is that it takes 1-3 hours to get to other points of interest. But that is just Washington. We wanted to see a lot and we did. We only used the hot tub a couple of times and didn't use the pool at all. Mostly because we were too tired - Its a fantastic feature though. Both in working order with towels provided for the pool house as well. The house shares that area with the guest house located in the rear of the house. No one was at the guest house the 5 days we had the house so we didn't have to share it. I am not sure how I would have liked sharing the space if there were others.

Highly recommend. Lovely home all in all.

Beautiful property!

  • 5 of 5

Our family of 4 adults and 2 children, ages 2 and 6, had a wonderful time at the Douglas home. The pool and hot tub are first class! No heavy clorine smell and very clean. Everything was available for cooking meals at home. The "secret garden" was a special memory. Don't let the look of it turn you off, just flip the switch and the water flows. Beds were comfortable, plenty of linens and sundries. Fabulous big decks and bbq that worked well. Very, very clean home! Suggestions: a key for the downstairs entrance so you could go directly out to where your car is parked. Also, a bbq on the main deck level so you don't have to go through the pool area with the food. All in all, a great time!

Fair

The room with the pool was not ventilated well enough so we really could not enjoy the pool or hot tub because of the chlorine smell. Also, the house was extremely loud, it needs area rugs or something to absorb the noise some. The weather was great and the beds comfy. Liked the location, very convient to area activities. Needed to be better stocked, we had to but toilet paper and this should have been provided.

Owner's Response: Marilyn As the owner I do take feedback serious and will look into your areas of concern. Let me just take a moment to address the ones you mentioned. I do wish you had contacted me during your stay, I am an attentive owner and will go the distance to correct any issues to assure your visit is safe and meaningful, I include my cell phone number and my email on the check in sheet so I can be contacted. The house is a large with lots of open space with lots of glass and tile floors so it will tend to be a bit loud by its very nature, a space like this has strong benefits for family and group interaction but with that it can be a bit on the un-muffled side of the sound spectrum. In all of the property description and photos it is clear that It is not promised to be a quaint and quite retreat. As far as the toilet paper there are three bathrooms and a utility room that is stocked with paper goods, I will check with my housekeeping group to make sure that abundant supplies are readily available. As far as the smell of chemicals in the pool and spa area, I'm not sure what to say, I have the chemical level checked twice weekly, in both the spa and pool. The pool and spa are enclosed in a glass solarium and it is possible to open both sliding doors at each end of the solarium and all of the windows along the side to improve ventilation. Again I am at a loss as to the chemical smell but I will have my pool crew double check each time they are there. It is after the fact but I am very approachable and like to resolve issues as that arise, thank you for the feedback and I do hope you will be our guest again in the future. Glen and Mary

Beautiful home in a beautiful area!

  • 5 of 5

My wife and I stayed here for just over a week with other family members popping in for a couple of days at a time. The house is exactly as described, with a guest house in the back that is rented out separately. The pool/hot tub area (all indoors!) and the back deck with the propane grill are shared between the properties, not a big deal for us as we only crossed paths with the other renters one evening and they were very nice. For larger groups you could consider getting both!

The house is set far back from the street, and the street itself is a dead end, so it feels very secluded. Even so, it is centrally located. A day trip in one direction leads to Forks and Rialto Beach, and the other to Port Townsend, Fort Worden, Fort Flagler, and Port Gamble. The closest town is Port Angeles of course; if you need to pick up groceries or other necessities Safeway and Walmart (for example) are just a few minutes away, and there is a (small) farmer's market downtown every Saturday. Access to the Olympic Discovery Trail (ODT), which runs for 130 miles across the northern part of the Olympic Peninsula, is just a couple of blocks from the front door. We each logged 50+ miles of hiking and 34 geocaches during our stay, and we're not really all that outdoorsy, which speaks to the recreation in the area!

But back to the house. Our first impression was amazement. The tile floors, wood beams, plentiful windows, and open main space are classy yet inviting, and everything was so immaculate it was like stepping into the pages of a magazine. Thoughtful touches were everywhere, like lots of extra towels, plenty of cookware and utensils (we're foodies), extra pillows/blankets, a roll-away bed, Mr. Coffee (no Keurig when we were there so don't bring K-cups), dishwashing tablets, supplies of extra trash bags and higher-end TP (hey it matters :)), and a Bluetooth speaker with a charging dock for your Thunderbolt-enabled iPhone. There are three main bedrooms, one on each end of the house and one downstairs. The master bathroom has two sinks, a jetted tub, a shower, and because access to the pool area goes through the master bed/bath it has a washtub and second clothes dryer for rinsing/drying your pool stuff. There's even a bidet! For you techies there's CenturyLink internet with reliable WiFi. The house is dog-friendly as well - a big plus!

The owner is very responsive and called once during our stay to check in, super nice guy. Definitely recommend, hope to return!
