Thanks so much for viewing our home in Ellijay, GA. We hope you will visit it and love it as much as we do. It is rare to find a riverfront property with 3.5 acres and 450 feet on such a beautiful part of the river. We have a view down the river that can't be beat.
Our home is a 3 bedroom, 2.5 bathroom home. It has wood floors throughout. The master has a king bed and a day bed with trundle underneath. The master bath has double vanities. The 2nd bedroom upstairs also has a king bed. The 3rd bedroom has a queen bed and a full size bed.
Towels, sheets, blankets are all included. Two rolls toilet paper, a bar of soap, pump hand soap, and a hair dryer are provided in each full bath. The kitchen is fully stocked with 2 rolls of paper towels, unlimited garbage bags, blender, coffee grinder, coffee maker, cooking utensils and plenty of pots, pans, and casserole dishes for your meals. There are plenty of glasses, silverware, plates and everything you will need. The table seats 8 guests and there is a leaf to expand to 10 guests.
There is a charcoal grill on the deck. Bring charcoal please.
Enjoy the huge screened in porch with swing, glider, and rocking chairs. Eat breakfast, lunch, and dinner at the rustic table and chairs so you can enjoy the outdoors.
Inside, there is a remote control gas fireplace in the living room. Outside, there is a fire pit by the river's edge next to the swings and chairs so everyone can enjoy the view down the river while listening to the sounds of the whitewater.
There is wireless internet throughout the house. In the living room there is a 50 inch flat-screen TV with DVR using Directv and a DVD , a 32 inch flat-screen TV in the basement rec room, and in the 3rd bedroom there is a small TV with DVD only.
You can fish right from the bank of the river and there is a stocked fishing pond in our gated community as well. No license is required within our community. There are board games in the partially finished basement rec. room with a ping pong table, corn hole boards/bean bags and small basketball goal. You can tube the river by bringing your own tubes and putting in upstream (see directions in guest book) OR you can go to the General Store and have them transport you to and from put in and take out locations.
The rec/fitness center is just 10 minutes away within the gates of our community. You can play pool, ping pong, games, swim in the indoor heated pool, play putt putt, or work out with the gym equipment. Guests are required to buy an amenity card so please ask about this if you are interested. Guest amenity cards are required.
There are parks with picnic tables, play ground equipment, and grills. There is a doggy park, a fishing pond, and walking trails. These things do not require a guest amenity card.
From Memorial Day to Labor Day, there are 2 outdoor pools open along with a teen center at the Riverside Pool. Again, there is an amenity card required for admittance.
There is no smoking indoors. Pets are allowed with permission from the owner.
Go by the grocery store and pick up supplies on your way in. You'll prefer not to leave once you arrive!!!!
Please read the reviews that address the gravel road to our home. That will give you a good idea of whether it would concern you. There is a short stretch that is bumpy but is not in any way dangerous. Some guests who have never been on mountain roads have expressed their opinions. If you have a sports car, it is not the car you want to drive. A regular height car is better. 4 wheel drive is NOT needed. Drive slowly and carefully over this short stretch of road.
We look forward to hearing from you and appreciate your interest in our home. This home is truly managed by owner so we take a special interest in making your stay perfect.
Jim and Beth
We are now retired. I grew up in Union Point, GA, and Jim grew up in Winter Park, FL. We currently spend time in our home in Ellijay, our parents' farm in Union Point, and love to go places in our 1967 Airstream Globetrotter.
Beth and Jim Hunt purchased this cabin in 2004
We built our home because we love the mountains and fell in love with the river as soon as we saw this spot.
Privacy is foremost since our property is at the end of a road. Close the gate and you will not be disturbed!
First, let me address the road to the cabin. The part of the road being described is only about 50 to 75 yards long and to describe it as dangerous is being completely unfair. For this road to be dangerous you would have to be either a very careless driver or an unskilled one. We went out a few times after dark and the road in no way limited our activities or our enjoyment of the cabin. Having said that tho, leave your Corvette at home and you'll be fine. The cabin is beautiful and very comfortable. Everything about it is first rate and Jim and Beth covered every detail of our stay. They had the A/C and the TV on for us when we got here!! They really know hospitality!! We enjoyed shopping and eating in Ellijay and giving our small dogs their first opportunity to swim. Saturday evening we grilled out then watched O Brother, Where Art Thou? which Jim and Beth had provided. We would recommend this cabin to everyone and would definitely stay here again!!
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and the comforts of home that were provided. The private gravel drive needs some work as it is a bumpy, bumpy ride to the bottom. Loved seeing all of the deer and their comfort with people. The pride you take in your home shows, and we had an awesome time with plenty of room to spread out. Multiple nights on the screen porch playing the guitar and relaxing to the peaceful sound of the water. Definitely will return and appreciate your help in finding the "book." Horseback riding, kayaking, shopping, and tubing, always a must and this trip was no exception.
We visited in June 2016 and after driving around this community - the Hunt's have one of the best spots on the river! The house and location has something for everyone. I second the other reviewer's glowing recommendations about the property. We visited with 2 small children (2yr and 4 yr) and felt very safe. The screen porch was a nice option to be outside, yet keep the kiddos corralled. This was a perfect spot on the river - a good mix of calm/rapids and shallow/deep. We didn't tube because of the children, but learned that this house is just before the spot that the commercial tubers get picked up, which is nice to not have people floating by your house all day, but also great if you're wanting to tube. Just park up-river and float directly to the house! We visited the Riverside pool on the property which has a 1ft kiddie pool which they loved! It is located next to a swinging bridge over the river and playground. There are plenty of grocery stores and restaurants in the area (15mins from the house), so even though your secluded, you're never too far away from necessities. We planned on taking a day trip to Chattanooga, but after hearing about all of the close-by attractions, decided to stay closer to home, and that was a great decision! We visited Amicalola Falls the first day and would highly recommend. It is about 30-40 minutes from the house and has both easy accessible and more rigorous trails to the falls. On the way back we took the south route which drove atop the mountains and provided beautiful lookouts. It also brought us to Bigun's BBQ which was some of the best we've had! The second day we visited Mercier Orchards north of Ellijay (also about 30 minutes) and enjoyed a tractor tour of the orchard (we missed the blueberry picking as they were all picked over), but it was still a great experience. Cider/Wine tasting and samples topped it all off. Canterbury restaurant in Blue Ridge was a great lunch spot with ample portions. Finally, don't leave without visiting Build an Ark Animal Rescue outside the south gate. We were able to pet and feed sheep, goats, donkeys, horses, baby deer, pigs, rams, a hawk, and many more. Susan is the heart of this place and was wonderful to talk with and hear about the history of the barn (tornado destroyed it 5 yrs ago and was rebuilt by the community and firefighters from New York). Thank you Beth and Jim for allowing us to visit your home - we cannot wait to go back!
My husband and I stayed at the cabin for a week in October, 2015. We enjoyed it so much. We loved the cabin. It is very roomy and comfortable. We love to have coffee on the large screen porch in the morning. If you are quiet, you can see deer walking around outside the cabin and out in the river. We also love sitting by the river with a fire burning in the firepit and then inside by the fireplace at night. The cabin décor is very pretty and the beds were very comfortable. We definitely hope to go back.
We loved our stay. I had a lot of aprehension because of the recent review that the roads were treacherous etc, I'm anxious by nature and have small children so it was a concern. We are from the city and only visit the mountains once a year, so we are not experienced mountain drivers, and we found the road to be absolutely FINE. It is paved until the very last road, and then it's maybe 1 - 2 minutes of gravel road. We actually arrived our first night at 7pm once it was already dark, and I was nervous not knowing what to expect, but we managed fine. I assume the road was worse before, but as of now there's nothing to worry about. The house is absolutely beautiful, I don't think the pictures do it justice. And the small touches throughout makes it feel like you're at home. The view of the river beat all expections, you couldn't ask for better. We've been renting cabins in the fall for the last 20 years, and this place is just as nice as the ones we have paid over $300 a night for. We would definitely recommend this lovely cabin!
As grandparents, my husband and I searched and searched for a property that would accommodate our family and provide relaxion for the parents and fun for the grandchildren. This property was perfect. The oldest grandchild (14 yrs old) was so impressed, he commented that we should do this every year! We agree. The kids loved the porch and ate outside almost every meal. The kitchen is huge and well equipped, even for our large group (10). The home is nicely decorated and very secluded and private. Elizabeth was awesome and answered all our questions. The kids and adults love it so much, they are still talking about the beautiful home and the fun we had. The kids loved the river and rafting and also the pool in the development. Thank you for sharing your home with us!
