About the property

The apartment is located in Madrid’s historic center in the pitoresque and multicultural neighborood of Lavapies. Renovated in 2007, the apartment is on the fourth floor of a historic building from the late 19th century, which was renovated in the year 2000. There is no elevator. The total living area is 90 sm, including upstairs, downstairs and a 20 sm terrace.

The first floor contains a living room, American-style open-plan kitchen, a bathroom, and a bedroom. A wrought-iron and wood staircase leads to the second floor, which contains two more bedrooms.It is a very bright, colorful, and extremely quiet apartment—cool in the summer thanks to well-insulated walls and the circulation of fresh air from many windows, and warm in the winter thanks to three automatic electric heaters that distribute warmth throughout the first (2 heaters) and second (1 heater) floors. The apartment is decorated mainly with IKEA furnishings and has a fully equipped kitchen, microwave, washing and drying machines. The terrace extends directly from the living room, offering a lovely view across the rooftops of the city with a view of the nearby belltower of one of Madrid’s historic churches. The front part of the terrace is teak. There is a large bathtub and shower on the terrace with both hot and cold water, and at the end of the terrace a built-in barbeque. The terrace also offers a large teak dining table and two chairs (Ikea: KVARNO). The flat can host up to 8 people.

"An absolute amazing experience for somebody living in the wide spaces of Arizona. The apartment is happy. Weird choice of words to describe an apartment, but after you'll stay there you'll agree with me: the location, the furnishing, the very smart use of space, the painting, the view, everything. The contact with the owner was a pleasure, the contact person was very nice and indeed you don't need a car unless you like getting lost in a maze of narrow streets."

"This place is magical...the intense colors of the interior, the absolute quiet right in the middle of madrid, the surrounding streets of lavapies... and of course the private rooftop terrace, which was so bright and peaceful that I barely wanted to leave. wonderful place to spend a vacation!"

The street Calle Espada is restricted to traffic, but it is possible to reach the flat’s building for load in. Free parking is almost impossible to find. There are many private parking lots within the area: PLAZA JACINTO BUENAVENTE, PLAZA DE LA CEBADA, PLAZA MAYOR. Parking prices range between 16€ and 25€ per day.

The apartment is located in the neighborood of Lavapies, an area full of restaurants, tapas bars, cafes, theaters, and museums. From here, it’s just a short walk to all of Madrid’s main historic and cultural sites (Plaza Mayor, Puerta del Sol, the museums (El Prado, Reina Sofía, Thyssen), Palacio Real, the Retiro Park, the Botanical Garden).

Also, all of Madrid’s historical neighborhoods can be reached on foot: LA LATINA, AUSTRIAS, EL BARRIO DE LAS LETRAS, MALASAÑA, which together with LAVAPIES are the heart of Madrid’s nightlife.
