Blueberry lodge was built as a family vacation home suited to social gatherings. The lodge is 4200 square feet, with four large bedrooms with en suite full baths on the ground floor and a 2100 square foot open great room on the second floor.
Designed by renowned architect Piet Van Dijk, this modern lodge is designed to comfortably accommodate the needs of different family arrangements while providing a gracious and convivial social space.
The master suite contains a king sized bed, a kitchenette, dressers and large closets and a large bathroom with a double shower and vanity.
The second bedroom has a king that can be converted into two twins and a full bath with large shower.
The third bedroom has a queen sized bed, a full sized fold out futon and a full bath with shower and tub.
The fourth bedroom has a king that can also be converted into two twins, a queen sized murphy bed and a full bath with shower.
The entry hall is large and open with plenty of winter clothing storage and a couch. There is also a large separate laundry room on this floor.
The ground floor is heated with radiant 'in floor' heating which is very comfortable in the cold weather months.
The great room has a cathedral ceiling and a monitor that adds light and regulates heat in the summer. It comprises a large open kitchen, a formal living area, a dining area, a full bar, a gaming area, a billiards table that doubles as a ping pong table and a media viewing area with an HD projection as well as traditional TV.
The lodge has DirecTV and high speed internet. There are also two wood burning stoves and a large exterior deck with a gas grill.
Renters will be able to use one bay of the separate three car garage.
Outside there is also a large slate tile patio under the deck, a wood storage shed and a covered entry way with a small patio.
There is a 'Boules' court and picnic table to one side of the house.
Blueberry Lodge is two miles from South Pond, a beautiful; mountain lake with public access and is 22 miles from Mount Snow, a 30 minute drive.
Finally, while Blueberry Lodge is deep in the mountains of southern Vermont on top of scenic Ames Hill, it is only twelve minutes from Interstate 91 in West Brattleboro Vermont so it is surprisingly convenient for visitors from the south.
The builder, Bill Glover, is a retired businessman who attended Yale right after world war two. His best high school friend is renowned architect Piet van Dijk. Piet and Bill have collaborated on all of Bill's houses since 1960 and Piet designed and Bill acted as general contractor for Blueberry Lodge.
John Glover purchased this house in 2000
I built the Lodge as a family gathering place. It is designed for easy access and accommodation for weary weekend travelers (bedrooms and storage downstairs) and communal dining and entertaining.
The house is unique due to its spectacular open plan great room. It is the ultimate family/friends gathering place with room for all sorts of vacation activities and past times, from quiet reading in the living area, to relaxing in front of an open fire to watching a movie on a projection TV.
The place was great and Mr.Glover kept it in excellent condition. Easy instructions to follow with plenty to do in the house. All of us enjoyed our stay there and would certainly recommend to other people as well.
We stayed here for a weekend in March 2017. The house is spacious, warm, well-stocked, comfortable. The owners were very attentive and made sure we had everything we needed. We were 4 adults and 6 kids and we had plenty of space for us all. Great sledding for little kids out the back door. We didn't want to leave!
We had a wonderful time! Their house is very spacious and clean. When we arrived it was nice and warm. There is plenty of space for a large group of people. If you have babies...each room is big enough to fit a pack and play for him/her to sleep in. They also have a long gate that you can lock at the top of the stairs which really came in handy since we had two infants running around. The bar is great and you always have something to do inside the house since there are plenty of games!!
Cons: The walls are very thin. We could hear everything that was going on above us. There isn't a bathroom upstairs. Not deal breakers for us though... would definitely stay here again!!!!
Would had been 5 stars if there was a hot tub it was the only amenity missing, otherwise this was an awesome ski weekend getaway . Loved this place and will certainly consider returning next ski season. Never too late to add a hot tub for that 5 star review .
We absolutely loved our stay at blueberry Lodge! The home is a true open concept with plenty of activities for kids and adults. The house is well-maintained and property owner is accessible and very helpful. We plan to return as soon as possible!
We rented this property as a surprise getaway for my mom turning 50. It was myself, 3 brothers, our spouses, children, and grandfather... when we arrived we were in awe of the beauty of the lodge and all the neat stuff it had! Very unique set-up and a lot of family history!!! They have everything from board games, ping pong tables, Frisbees etc! They have more than what's needed for cooking and living.... the space is super comfortable and the location is beautiful and very quiet! We truly feel blessed to have found it, you will NOT be disappointed in this rental! The owners were flexible, easy going, and very prompt and professional! - Sheena R.
