Unforgettable views, elegant comforts
My husband and I loved this cozy but spacious house. The Wild Atlantic is right on the doorstep, a soul-stirring view no matter the weather - from the sitting room and from the breakfast bar and dining table in the kitchen. The location feels very remote out on the Renvyle peninsula, but in fact there are homes all along the road and hamlets for groceries and pubs just minutes away. Juxtaposed with the rugged setting, this home is elegantly appointed: luxe bedroom linens, a roomy renovated kitchen with LOTS of dishes, cookware, mugs and drinkware. I especially enjoyed the variety of teapots and wine glasses. We did appreciate the two bathrooms - a handy en suite, and a roomy main bath with large tub/shower combo. Tons of towels, too.
Our hostess, Debbie, was available on a moment's notice and such an advocate for the area , as well as very gracious and warm. When the weather is dodgy - as it was for several days during our stay - the house is equipped with lots of interesting books and family games, some DVDs (and VHS!) of classic movies and Irish films and more - but we were mostly satisfied with the country quiet and gazing out the window at the changing seascape. The home is convenient to Connemara National Park for a good long walk, to shopping in Clifden and to the islands via Cleggan, as well as really close to Kylemore Abbey. Absolutely lovely home - I wished we could stay longer, and we'd happily book it again when we're lucky enough to return to Ireland.
Quiet & beautiful
Those 2 words sum up our stay with Debbie. She was an excellent host, the house was clean & spacious, the kitchen fully equipped, and ocean view wonderful. What more can one ask..?!
honestly, we liked it all. Great house, great facilities. Comfortable beds, comfortable chair and rooms. Quiet and very well well taken care of. A good supply of essentials already in the house. We would gladly stay here again. And the Country Shop in Letterfrack is a full grocery store, more than enough for normal shopping.
Beautiful Views and a Wonderful Home
You have to start with the owner Debbie, when describing the property. So friendly and yet a professional in providing us with every need. The home is very well outfitted, and we could not think of anything we missed from being in our every day home. We needed stable reliable internet, and it was and actually there is a back-up in case one goes down. We found the large windows over looking the ocean to be great, and of course since it was cold took advantage of the fireplace.
The other benefit Debbie provided is she knows everyone and they know her, so when we needed a driver, a recommendation, etc. she had it all. A + on the in-home guide for the house and area. And yes, Debbie a golfer herself, can provide local and area courses to play.
Thank you Debbie for a wonderful stay, for myself my wife and daughter.
Would be difficult to find a better coastal property than this belter!
A week in Connemara in October was always going to be chancy, who knew what the weather would do! As it turned out we had a few days of reasonable sunshine and a few days of heavy rain and strong winds.
On the good days we were out doing stuff, messing about in boats, taking in the beauty of Kylemore Abbey and walking on white sand beaches. With the thought that returning to our fantastic haven on the Atlantic coast was going to enhance the beautiful days we had enjoyed.
On the bad weather days we tended not to venture far from home. Maybe nip into the village to top up with the "essentials" (wine, beer, cakes and newspapers!). Then we decided which of Debbie's varied selection of DVDs we would watch, interspersed with which of our selection of Irish traditional music CD's we would listen to! I could think of no better way of passing a wet and windy day than sitting in the lounge of Sea For Miles, with a glass of really nice beer (on this occasion I discovered McGargles many fine IPAs) whilst listening to a very good Altan CD and watching the Atlantic Ocean dance "before my very eyes"!!
This is a fantastic holiday home, in a fantastic place. If you're going to Connemara, stay here - you'll love it!!!
We feel very fortunate to have found Sea for Miles, exactly what we wanted for our trip to Ireland.
Perfect in every way! Sea for Miles was everything we hoped for and more. The views were magnificent! Debbie is a beautiful person, so gracious and knowledgeable. She helped to make our time in Ireland unforgettable. We can’t wait to go back and stay even longer!
Renvyle is situated in the heart of Connemara - approx. 90 kms from Galway City. (Ardnagreevagh is approx. 5 kms west of Tullycross). Kylemore Abbey and Connemara National Park are both within a fifteen minute drive from the house. There are several white sandy beaches also within a few minutes drive. The White Strand is a 4 minute drive from the cottage and Glassilaun beach is 15 minutes drive from the house. The house is rurally located and directly overlooks the sea and the islands. Renvyle House Hotel is the nearest hostelry and from door to door, is a five minute drive. There are several excellent and reliable taxi services in the area and once booked in advance, you can be guaranteed a reliable transport service to and from the local villages.
Paddy Coynes Pub is five minutes drive away in Tullycross village. This pub has just won the accolade of being the best pub in Galway (2017). If you're looking for an Irish pub experience, look no further. For food, ambience and service, it just won't be beaten.
