Lovely cottage on Fox Lake, a quiet and clean limited ski lake. Close to town, property abuts city limits and Zollner Golf Course.Cottage is 100' from lake with fantastic view of sunsets. Large yard with campfire area 50' from cottage (wood available). Kids have room to play catch or the family can have a rousing game of crouqet on the lawn. Enjoy fishing in the morning and evening without the hassle of speeding motor boats. Ski or tube between the hours of 12 and 4 P.M. You don't have to worry about getting run over on this lake with rarely more than a few speed boats at a time. Nice secluded swim beach 300 yards from cottage.
1 Bedroom with queen bed. Futon off dining room and sleeper sofa in living room. Bathroom with tub/shower. Nice size furnished kitchen.
My family has owned this property since 1956 and My wife and I now own it. We are currently building a home on the property about 100 yards from the cottage.
Martin or Cindy Rowe purchased this cottage in 2001
If you're interested in a laid back vacation where you can relax and read a book, the kids can fish off the pier and you don't have to worry what your neighbors are doing 30 feet to each side of you. Then this is your site. The cottage is located on a 40 acre piece of land with 1800 feet of lakefront. Fox Lake is not a hotbed of activity like the larger lakes. To us this is a big plus. When you're boating you don't get the feeling you're involved in the Indy 500.
Quiet and laid back
We had a very nice time. It was quiet and relaxing, just what we needed. This small lake was just the right size with no skiing outside of the hours of 1-4 pm, so there were quiet fisherman and friendly boaters. The property was grassy and had a mowed path with woodsy area. The property was as described, very clean and well maintained. The owners stopped by to see if everything was OK and then we have their phone number if we needed anything. I would recommend this house for people that want a nice quiet place to relax and enjoy nature. The small town nearby had all that we needed and the State Park was fun to visit too.
We spent 10 relaxing days at the cottage and still did not want to go home. The cottage was immaculate and the bed comfortable (which isn't always the case in rentals) The kitchen has all the necessary equipment (including my coffee measuring spoon that I forgot to pack... whoops) Angola is a lovely university town with many antique shops yet still has a nice size shopping area on the outskirts. We enjoyed fishing and swimming in the lake. It is a clean, clear, very shallow lake, so one does not need to worry so much with little ones around the water. Flea markets, auctions, dinner theater, and car shows are all within a 30-45 min. drive. Remember to pack your lawn chairs because you'll want to spend time enjoying the view and watching the sunsets over the lake. Wish we were still there!
After a 4 day, 3 night stay we left feeling relaxed and ready to go back to the world.
Angola is a nice, small Midwestern town with a small division 3 university. They have a number of stores to purchase groceries and other necessities.
The cottage is a quaint, clean space. The view of the lake is great. The location provides a great breeze on a daily basis (while we were there). The lake is quiet and calm with little to no boat traffic. The cottage has all your basics covered (i.e. pots, pans, utensils, grill). You should be able to make a meal for 6 people with the utensils available.
The owners are great. During our stay I probably talked with the owners for a total of 90 minutes. I had to approach them to talk, but they were definitely not shy in talking. Their story is great and it is really refreshing to hear and meet people who are building their next home from scratch.
I would recommend this place to anyone looking for a quiet, calm lake property for a stay.
We had the best time in this house on the lake! Everything was as advertised. Very clean! Close to town but with country feel. Quiet! The most noise we heard while there was the echo of a marching band rehearsing in Angola and they were good so nothing to complain about. Fishing wasn't the best but it was hot during our visit. Swim area is a pretty good walk from the house but we did not swim anyway (3 adults).
We enjoyed our stay very much. The place is nicer than advertised. The owners are very nice and helpful. Working with them was easy. It was very relaxing for our family.
This little house is right on the lake with lots of outdoor space to play and explore. We watched fish, swam in the lake and picked raspberries. The kitchen was well stocked, but doesn't have a dishwasher. The cable is iffy in storms, so bring card and board games! It's a good excuse to have the TV off. There is no washing machine, but there is a line outside so you can hang handwashed clothes up. This location is great for being near Angola's various festivals, like the 4th of July parade and the hot air balloon festival.
