Lisbon is a 30/40 minute drive away. The capital of Portugal since its conquest of the Moors in 1147, Lisbon is a legendary city with more than 20 centuries of history. The Alfama is one of the oldest districts of Lisbon. Since much survived the earthquake of 1755, the area still retains much of its original layout. Adjacent to the Alfama are the same neighborhoods of Castelo and Mouraria, on the west and north slopes of the hill which is crowned by the Castle of St. George. Every year in June, the streets of all three rooms come alive with feasts in honor of the popular saints. The neighborhood of Graça and the churches of São Vicente de Fora and Santa Engrácia are within walking distance of the area. A radiant sky illuminates the monumental city, with its facades covered with typical tiles and narrow medieval streets, where you can hear the fado being played and sung at night.

Very nice beach property

  • 4 of 5

We loved Maria, the building was being painted while we were there and although Maria made it clear to the building manager, the workers were not informed so we lost the use of the patio terrace after the 1st day. The WI-FI quit working on the third day. Even with all that we enjoyed our stay.

A lovely week on the shore of the Atlantic Ocean

  • 5 of 5

My wife and I really enjoyed our stay in Praia Grande. Not only did we have the Atlantic on our doorstep, which we sat and watched at least for a short time every day, but there was also plenty of good walking along the coast, which we took advantage of. The attractions of Sintra were a short car journey away, or there was the tram from Praia das Macas, which we also enjoyed. Lisbon was an easy journey to make, so transferring from and to the airport was very straightforward.

The apartment was just right for the two of us and it had everything that we needed to make for a comfortable stay, although a reliable seal at the bottom of the shower door would be a worthwhile improvement. It was very helpful that there was a private parking space for us to use. Although we catered for ourselves for most of the week, we did eat at two of the local restaurants and both (Angra and Nortada) served up excellent meals.

Should we choose to holiday in the region again, we would be happy to stay in the same apartment.

Elegant ocean- front property

  • 3 of 5

Situated in a secluded corner of the coastline. Definitely need a car if you want to save many hours on bus rides for groceries , pharmacy, sight -seeing. .We enjoyed the proximity to the ocean which lulled us to sleep at night. The manager in the condo -block was very helpful. The condo is accessible by elevator and stairs .It has a one room living- sleeping space attached to a well appointed kitchen. The apartment was clean and bright. The stove hood / fan and light ...need maintenance .It kept falling out when used. The bathroom sink and countertop, is a little small . No hairdryer for ladies ( that I could see). Hot water at all times. The dining table , chairs, and drawers are beautiful , but fragile ...suitable only for gentle adult use. Original artist's paintings brought a sense of mystery to the condo's history. The surrounding restaurants provide wonderful fresh caught fish and seafood (as well as beef ) at reasonable cost. We were particularly fond of Restaurante ANGRA where the owners were exceptionally helpful when I had an injury. The father was the first life-guard to save a surfer's life at Praia Grande. Still having difficulty with the PayPal system for returning our damage deposit but have confidence it will happen soon

Fin bolig, men der er alt for meget i skuffer og skabe der ikke behøves til 3 personer 4 stjerne.

  • 4 of 5

Just About It!
Car: recommended

Praia Grande is facing west in the Sintra Natural Park, this beautiful beach, considered by many ecologists as one of the cleanest in Portugal, is close to Cabo da Roca, western point of Europe - "where the land ends and the sea begins" poet Luis de Camões of the sixteenth century.

It is over 2 km long, served by small local restaurants where you can taste simple and authentic dishes: cockles, barnacles, crabs and other fresh seafood.

You can explore the area on foot as there are many nature trails. Besides the best known beaches - Magoito, Praia das Maçãs and Adraga - and others that are true paradises that should not be wasted.

15 min drive from Sintra's World Heritage Center and 25 mins from Cascais and Estoril (the retreat for several notable European figures during the Second World War).

Other Activities: Surfing

Golf: Penha Longa is a fabulous eighteen hole located in Sintra, just twenty minutes from Lisbon. It is part of the Protected Landscape Zone of Sintra and Cascais.
