Quaint & Cosy Two Bedroom Cottage right in the Heart of Exmoor National Park

The Old Forge is the original Blacksmith's workshop and even now being the beautiful cosy holiday cottage that it is, it still includes many of the original features. This two bedroom holiday cottage is right in the heart of Exmoor National Park in the quaint village of Exford. It is available to let all year round, for long or short breaks, making it the ideal location for families as well as for hunting, shooting and horse riding holidays. The cottage is well-equipped and cosy, in a prime location for exploring Exmoor, as well as the scenic North Devon and Somerset coast. Why Tess Collins chose Exford

This beautiful cottage has been in our family for over 40 years and we are very proud of it with its original features, being once upon a time the old Blacksmith's Workshop. We refurbished it once again 3 years ago to become the quaint and cosy holiday let it is today. We still very much use it as a family but now welcome our guests to enjoy staying here just as much as we do!

A Short Stay in Exford

  • 4 of 5

We stayed in 'The Old Forge' for 4 nights and felt at home straight away. The place was very welcoming and warm and comfortable. It's situated right in the middle of Exford and how we enjoyed the busy little village with many horses, tractors and other country vehicles passing by. We even watched a hunt go by, how amazing is that! The Forge is clean and well looked after and to us the bed must be comfortable which we are pleased to say it was. The shop opposite was well stocked, I loved their pasties! The local pubs were inviting and friendly. We had our dog so we used a lot of local walks. A great stress free few days away fully recommended.

Lovely Place in a great location

  • 5 of 5

The Old Forge is ideally located for exploring Exmoor. Either 20 minutes to the coast or 10 minutes to the moors for fantastic walking. The village of Exford has all you need for supplies, 2 good pubs and a village shop.

The cottage itself is well appointed and comfortable with 2 bathrooms a large kitchen and a good sitting room for sprawling after a long days walk.

Cottage lovely, home from home! Really great location to explore Exmoor and the surrounding area.

  • 5 of 5

Lovely comfortable cottage, well equipped, home from home! (Only really tiny thing needed would be a hook for clothes on the back of the bathroom and shower room doors.) Great central location to explore Exmoor and the surrounding area. Exford is a quiet village and we had a lovely meal in The White Horse Inn. Beautiful scenic area of the country - the moors are amazing (especially when you get to see the ponies, sheep and cattle). We visited Exmoor Zoo and Exmoor Owl and Hawk Centre, explored Dunster Castle and village and wandered around charming Lynton and Lynmouth, Porlock and Porlock Weir. We also had a lovely day on The Somerset Steam Railway when we rode all the way along the line and then stopped off at Watchet on our return journey where we wandered around the lovely harbour area and finished the day walking around Minehead harbour. We also briefly visited Watersmeet and Tarr Steps.

Local icecreams and cream teas are also very yummy!!!.

We would definitely return.

The Cardy family.

Spacious and comfortable with very good amenities.

  • 5 of 5

Comfy beds, great bathroom, large country style kitchen. A great pub 50 metres each side of the front door and country store also within 50 metres. Great location, surrounded by beautiful countryside, not far to lovely walks, Tsar Steps and the Robot Ice cream. Perfect.
