Inverness, the capital of the Highlands is an hour away and is a bustling city with great shopping and amenities, whilst Fort William, an hour south of the cottage, offers the opportunity for skiing or climbing on the Nevis Mountain Range.

About Lucy Phipps
My grandparents purchased Lilybank back in 1968, after years of holidaying in Scotland and falling in love with the area. It has given four generations of my family great memories of holidays in one of the most beautiful corners of the world. Three of us even claim to have caught sight of that illusive monster during those years! I took over the management of the cottage two years ago and have enjoyed updating Lilybank as a holiday home for today's holiday maker.

Why Lucy Phipps chose Fort Augustus
Lilybank has been a much loved family holiday home for over 50 years. It is a special place in a wonderful location. The house feels cosy but spacious and has recently been updated with new kitchen and bathrooms. It is a place for building memories with wonderful day trips out or days just sitting in the garden, perhaps even braving a dip in the loch or river. Rainy days at Lilybank can be spent in front of the woodburner, playing board games or getting stuck into a good book (there are plenty to choose from in the house). Find a different walk everyday in the stunning countryside, have a meal at a local pub (the Loch Inn has an amazing number of Whiskies to try), dip your toes (or more if you're feeling really brave) in the lochs and rivers and generally soak up the marvellous and majestic highland scenery.
What makes this Cottage unique

It is a bit tired and needs a little work. Location absolutely first class.
Paintwork grubby in places and towels need replacing too small and too hard. We actually went and bought some, but this did not deflect in any way on our stay. Kitchen the best equipped we ever stayed in plenty of hot water and very comfy beds.
Beautiful house in stunning location
The house is so perfect and clean set in the best place overlooking the river into Loch Ness just out of the village but only a short walk into the centre.
Fabulous cottage, perfect location
Loved the cottage, slept 2 couples and 3 children easily, plenty of room.
Within walking distance to pubs, restaurants
Great walk through the forest, brilliant running routes. Boat tour to find Nessie!
We stayed in lilybank over the new year and had a fantastic time. We immediately felt at home when we arrived and the cottage has everything you need. Cosy and spacious with the most comfortable bed!
The location of lilybank is so peaceful and the views speak for themselves. Took trips to glen affric, eilean donan, falls of foyer and Plockton. Highly recommend this cottage and we hope to return. Thank you for the delicious welcome pack.
Charming riverside cottage
Well equipped house in an excellent quiet location. Ideal for families or two couples.
Bathroom cold tap in double bedroom resembled a jet fighter taking off which could be heard throughout house. Double bed mattress tired and needs replacing. Landing light outside double bedroom not working.
Even with the above minor faults we had an enjoyable stay and would recommend to family and friends.
Very lovely cottage with stunning views! We will be back!
Lilybank is situated in the picturesque village of Fort Augustus, at the South End of Loch Ness. Although 5 minutes walk from the heart of the village with its famous Caledonian Canal, various shops, pubs and restaurants, Lilybank is tucked away in a quiet spot with lovely views across the River Oich and out into Loch Ness. Fort Augustus is the perfect place from which to discover the Scottish Highlands, with both East and West Coasts within an hour's drive. Take a day trip to Skye and the stunning West Coast, to Aviemore and the Cairngorms, visit Inverness, climb Ben Nevis or ski on the Nevis Range, visit the historic Urquart Castle and catch a glimpse of Nessie! Closer to home there is plenty to do in and around the village - boat trips on Loch Ness, walks and trails in the beautiful forests, mountain biking and much more. There are a number of excellent places to eat in the village too.
