Fantastic Views and Great Snowshoe Location

  • 4 of 5

We had a very good stay at Valhalla. This was our second time staying at the cabin during a ski trip to Snowshoe. It is conveniently located to Snowshoe, just a 3-5 minute drive to the base of the mountain. The three-bedroom cabin gave our family of five plenty of room to relax after skiing, and provides a good alternative to staying on the mountain, which can feel crowded on weekends in February. The home is very nicely decorated, and the view from the large windows is spectacular. The owners are also very accommodating and easy to work with.

Beautiful views

  • 4 of 5

We had a great stay at the cabin. The weather was warm so we didn't have any trouble getting to the house but I can see how it would be difficult in the snow/ice. The views were beautiful off the decks, although the exterior windows in the living room were pretty dirty so we unfortunately couldn't see much from inside. The stay was comfortable and it was nice having a full kitchen to cook meals. We only had one roll of toilet paper per bathroom, so we had to run out and get more, but otherwise the beds were mad and plenty of towels available. There is a family of ladybugs living in the house, but once we got used to them, it wasn't too much of an issue. They do like to hang out on the chandelier in the dining area if the light is on, so watch out if you're eating since we had a few fall into our drinks! Overall the stay was good and we would rent the property again if we wanted to stay in Snowshoe away from the ski area.

Owner's Response: We are so glad you enjoyed your stay. The views are incredible and we will be working on the window issue this spring as two of the inner seals have gone bad. They are not dirty it is the outside layer of sun film that will also be worked on. We will speak with housekeeping about the toilet paper :) . Ladybugs, flies and country living. We decided hanging fly strips are ugly and unhygienic. The real issue is that is has been a very mild winter without a prolonged freezing temperatures that cause them to become dormant and swept by housekeeping. We welcome you back any time of the year. Thank you for your review.

Great Weekend Skiing

  • 5 of 5

We joined another family for a recent ski weekend and had a wonderful time staying at this home. The views from the home are spectacular and the owners were great to work with. The location is great for families because it is quiet and just a few miles from the slopes. I would recommend this property to folks headed to the Snowshoe area.

Wonderful summer mountain retreat!

  • 5 of 5

We stayed in this beautiful mountain home with our two teenage sons over a long weekend in August. The view from this home is amazing ( am I in West Virginia or the Alps?). It is extremely well- kept and nicely decorated. Though it is situated on the near-top of a mountain, we had no trouble in our non-4 wheel drive family minivan (obviously wintertime is different as other reviewers and the owners have advised). Summertime in this area is lovely- cooler than the cities and uncrowded. So much to do! We brought our bikes and rode the gorgeous and rider-friendly Greenbrier trail in Cass. Played golf at the amazing and challenging Raven golf club at Snowshoe, took fly fishing lessons at the Elk Springs Fly Fishing Resort, hiked, and did the Cass Scenic Railroad steam train ride. Oh, and yes, we relaxed by enjoying the view at this lovely log home! A wonderful escape with a perfect combo of relaxation and outdoor activity. Hope to visit again soon!

Got snowed in and loved every minute of it.

  • 5 of 5

26" inches of fresh powder prevented us from coming home on time. The owners were great and worked with us during the snowpocalypse. The house is convenient to Snowshoe. Awesome views.
