About Bridget Karaaslan
My husband and I run a well known real estate and construction business in Kalkan Turkey. ZesT is our latest venture created to give couples the best of both worlds: A luxury experience with the convenience of the town yet with sea views and privacy. We are excited to open in June this year and find out what our first guests think.
Bridget Karaaslan purchased this Apartment in 2016
Why Bridget Karaaslan chose Kalkan
We wanted to create a really private holiday rental especially for couples. There is no wasted space in ZesT just the rooms that you really want and lots of private outdoor space. And then of course there is the superb sea and mountain panorama with amenities right on your doorstep.
What makes this Apartment unique
ZesT has a great location just a 10 minute flat walk into the town and just minutes from local shops and cafes. It also has beautiful open sea views with a much larger private roof terrace and roof pool than many similar properties.
Cancelled bookings will not receive a refund.
Amazing views, peaceful, private, spacious, clean and an ideal location. Will book again and again
Excellent 1 bed apartment in a wonderful position on the Kalamar Road with fabulous view over the bay and its own rooftop terrace and plunge pool
We returned to the Zest Apartment for a 2nd year running as its perfect for a couple, one year on it's still immaculate and with the roof top pool a great place to relax at whilst in Kalkan.
It's a real gem in a beautiful town, stunning view to the sea and close enough to the towns restaurants and harbour for a 15 minute leisurely walk.
Couldn't want for anything more, plan to return 2020 and Zest will be preferred base.
Stayed here the last week in May. Could not have wished for a better place to stay. The villa was spotless, the location excellent. Bridget has made this place a home from home . Everything has been thought about. Have stayed in many villas abroad and this is up there with the best of them. Will definitely return in the future . Thanks again, Jamie & Nicola
This is a lovely apartment for two people, perfect location (5-10 minutes walk in any direction takes you to shops, bars and restaurants, and 15-20 minutes gentle stroll downhill to the beach and harbourside of the old town). Beautifully furnished and equipped with everything you need. We had cool days and blazing sunshine during our week's stay, and the apartment was great whether we wanted to be inside or out. The roof terrace offers wonderful views (although with the glass balcony you are very much on view to pedestrians and traffic passing... a few plants along the side would help without spoiling the amazing views to the front, which are really stunning). We managed to get in the pool a few times, especially when the weather warmed up. Bridget always responded promptly to questions and was very helpful. We would certainly return (although unfortunately it's so lovely, it gets very booked up!).
Wonderful in every way
As others have said, the apartment is beautifully set out and fitted to a very high standard. The rooftop terrace is a fantastic area for relaxing. It’s no more than a gentle ten minute amble into town but don’t forget there are some great restaurants up the hill as well. Bridget was very prompt in replying to correspondence and it was lovely to meet her for a coffee. Would love to come back again.
Thank you M. I hope you will return again in the future!
Kalkan is ideal for all types of water activities. The Bay has a Blue Flag Award for cleanliness and is ideal for a PADI diving course or learning to sail or water ski. Keen walkers & hikers can explore parts of the ancient Lycian Way which passes directly through the town. On Patara Beach are early morning horse ridding sessions and in the summer Yoga classes are available on the sea front at Villa Mahal. Kalkan will inspire any photographer or painter with numerous photo and painting opportunities so don't forget to bring your camera and brushes. Turkish cooking classes are usually available through Guru's restaurant along with wine tasting evenings.
The villa is within a 5 minute walk of the Yali Beach Club and 10 minute walk to Kalkan beach and the harbour. From the harbour you can catch the water taxis to Palm Beach, Patara Prince beach, Villa Mahal and Kalkan Park beach clubs. The nearest sandy beach is Kaputas, a small beach at the bottom of a gorge with turquoise blue water and just 5 minutes by car/local bus. The 18km sandy beach at Patara (protected nature reserve and totally unspoilt) is a 20 minute car/local bus ride away.
Nearest airport is Dalaman a 75-90 min car journey. An alternative is Antalya a 2½ - 3 hours drive by car. We advise a private airport transfer on arrival to the villa, which we can arrange - although it is possible to travel with local transport or to hire a car at the airport and drive yourself. A car is not necessary for staying the property and you can hire a car on a daily basis once you arrive for planned day trips out.
The next nearest town to Kalkan is Kas, a 27km / 30 min drive away. Kas is worth visiting just for the stunning scenery on the coastal road. The nearest large town is Fethiye a 50 minute drive away with its bustling market, harbour and fish restaurants. Many historical sites are within a 45 minute drive of Kalkan including Xanthos, Tlos, and Pinara. Other places of interest are Saklikent Gorge, and the traditional villages of Bezirgan and Islamlar just a short drive up into the Taurus Mountains.
Kalkan has 7 major banks all with cash machines accepting most credit cards plus a local post office. Internet cafes and phone shops to stay in touch with home. There are English speaking doctors and a dentist if required. Don’t miss the experience of a Turkish bath or Hamam at the Atlantis well being centre, where there is also a small gym for fitness enthusiasts. Kalkan is well known for its array of excellent restaurants high up on roof terraces in the old town or by the harbour. Don't miss the traditional eateries like Belgin's kitchen with authentic Turkish food, live Turkish music and the chance to smoke a water pipe or the small kebab houses, pide (pizza) and pancake restaurants. Must Do's When In Kalkan: A day trip to Kekova/Simena, Saklikent Gorge and A Boat Trip On Kalkan Bay.
