Bob and I live right next door to the bungalow. We purchased the bungalow for US to get away from our house. We love to say lets get out of the house for the weekend, go next door for a wonderful clean bungalow vacation. We can't do that anymore, because the bungalow is always booked. So we try to vacation at other VRBO owners vacation sites.
Carole Fornwald purchased this house in 2003
Located on the Bayou De Chein and surrounded by wildlife. Enjoy the breath taking views of wildlife and the bald eagles of Reelfoot Lake.
Located right next to a National Wildlife Refuge.
Wildlife at it's best. Fishing for several different species of fish. Feed the catfish off the dock. Every evening around 7:00. You will not want to miss it. Remember these fish are not my pets, but do enjoy a free meal in the evening.

We liked our stay and thought the property was well represented from the description. We had not stayed on that side of the lake before and enjoyed exploring the area. This was later than we used to come, so didn't see many eagles, but enjoyed the time anyway. Bob was friendly and helpful when we arrived. We were grateful this was available on a short notice long weekend. The site description had rightly advised of spotty, in our case, no cell phone coverage and having to drive for a signal, and this was the only real negative issue. The bungalow was clean on arrival and we sure appreciated that.
The only place we stay when visiting the Reelfoot area. It is out of the way, quiet and has everything you need. Thanks Carole and Bob for sharing the Bungalow with us. Hope to see you again next year.
The bungalow is very cozy and accommodating, much more so than a resort or hotel because you have all the comforts of home. I would definitely stay again
We visited Reel Foot for a family duck hunting trip. Our previous hunting trip we stayed at a local resort, which was fine, but loud and busy all hours of the night. Our local guide recommended the Bungalow, so this year we stayed at the Bungalow and it was so much nicer. Its in a very quit neighborhood, our hunting guide was able to pick us up each morning right off the dock in our back yard. The Bungalow had all the amenities that you would expect from a nightly rental house. We prefer to cook for ourselves rather than eat out every meal, and the kitchen was very well equipped for whatever you might need. The owners live next door and were very nice and offered help with anything that we might need, but yet left us to ourselves otherwise. Very Comfortable lodging for our hunting group of 5 and 1 dog. We will stay here on our next trip to Reel Foot for sure.
We had a very enjoyable stay at this property! It was perfectly situated for the activities we planned: visiting the adjacent wildlife refuge; Discovery Center in Union City; fishing; relaxing; and enjoying access to the water. We couldn't locate a canoe rental place (so plan ahead if you want to rent a canoe), but power boats are available for $50-$70 dollars for a half day. The property is situated on a quiet street of small homes in close proximity to each other on the creek side of the street (the other side of the street is mostly wooded). Although the homes are close together, the layout and landscaping of the home provide ample privacy both indoors and in outside seating areas. The neighbors were very friendly and welcoming. Loud/late night partiers would probably not be a good fit for this peaceful neighborhood. Property owners Bob and Carole live next door, but were not at all intrusive (I never even met them) and responded quickly to a few questions I texted. The home is quite comfortably furnished and very clean - you'd never know from the quality, condition, or smell that it is a dog-friendly property. Some (non-threatening) neighborhood dogs roam freely, and we enjoyed meeting them on our walks. The master bed has a comfortable mattress and high quality linens, providing a great night's sleep. The home has a large flat screen TV and wifi, but no cell reception. We drove 5 minutes to the wildlife refuge visitor's center when we needed a signal. We had all pots, pans and utensils needed to easily grill and cook. The kitchen is stocked well enough that no immediate trips to the grocery store were needed to get settled in. Dish soap, paper towels, coffee/tea/filters, salt, pepper, sugar and various spices were available. Backup garbage bags, foil/saran wrap, and laundry soap were not provided, so be prepared to provide those if you need them, and you may want to bring your own food storage containers if you use them for leftovers. The ice machine is very convenient and there is also a reach-in chest freezer. There were good restaurants within 15 minutes drive (homemade onion rings at Boyette's definitely worth a return trip). All the locals we met were super friendly. We were very happy with our stay, highly recommend the property, and would definitely return to this home on future visits. Thank you Carole and Bob for a wonderful family getaway!
We had fun at this property. It was quiet surroundings. My grandson is 2 he loved the night frogs and fishing. will stay here again. Close to everything, not out of the way. But private in a lot of ways.
