About Christy Laird
I have had a love affair with Arcata since I moved here over 40 years ago to attend Humboldt State University. I graduated and could not leave this special place; our progressive kinda quirky little university town is like none other. Rose Court Cottage is adjacent to my downtown Tudor Revival residence, just 4 short blocks to Arcata Plaza.
Christy Laird purchased this Cottage in 1988
Why Christy Laird chose Arcata
The abundance of natural beauty just minutes away in any direction is phenomenal: the tallest most majestic redwood trees in the world, miles of unspoiled rugged coastline, sand dunes, lagoons, six beautiful rivers, ever changing Humboldt Bay, and Wildlife Refuges, to name a few. The redwood coast offers diverse recreational opportunities which attract visitors from around the world. Since opening in 2004, I have hosted a good number of those visitors here at Rose Court Cottage and guided them to the unique features of our area. I have developed friendships with guests who return again and again to visit their HSU students or family living in the area, attend our many festivals and events, conduct business, or come back to a getaway that they love. It is the perfect base from which to make day trips to the natural wonders of our region, and return at the end of the day to a cozy cottage with all the comforts of home.
What makes this Cottage unique
Arts, culture, music, theater, shopping, food and drink, being 'green' before it was groovy, a lively downtown Plaza, architecture, history, and a friendly embracing community make Arcata a destination not to be missed. Cute
This place is perfect for a couple and right in the middle of town in Arcata. This is perfect for those staying on business or pleasure. The location is quiet and I would definitely stay here again.
J.H., it was a pleasure hosting your Arcata visit during the Oyster Festival weekend 2019. I am thrilled to learn that you enjoyed Arcata Stay's Rose Court Cottage and it was really great to meet you in person after hearing your voice so often in past years past on KHSU radio. Hope you return to Arcata sooner than another 5 years, and stay with us again. Be well and enjoy your summer. Cheers, Christy

Quaint Cottage in Arcata, CA
Pros: Cozy, clean, comfortable and location was perfect (walk across the street to Wild Berries Market & The Square is about just 4 blocks.) Check-in was easy and Christy was very welcoming upon arrival and showed up where everything was located and how to work the TV, DVD etc. We loved that we had a beautiful private entrance. Lots of extras were provided, such as toiletries and kitchen supplies. Not a lot of street noise.
Cons: Small but was functional for the two of us. Additional adult occupants might feel crowded. Not a lot of storage for clothes, and the closet was pretty small (we had lots of cold weather items).
All and all we would recommend the Rose Court Cottage.
Thank you so much for your 5 star review of Arcata Stay's Rose Court Cottage vacation rental. I am pleased that you appreciated the amenities and privacy of the space, and its great convenient location right in the heart of town. Pretty much every square inch has been maximized in the cottage's 300 square feet. It is the most ideal for one or two guests, though it can accommodate up to four guests. Besides the smallish closet, I hope you were able to utilize the ten drawers in the two night stands for alternative clothes storage. I am glad you enjoyed your time spent with your granddaughter over Thanksgiving. Wishing you all the best and happy holidays. I would be most pleased to host a future visit if you return to spend time in Arcata with your HSU student. Kindly, Christy Laird
Home Away From Home
This cottage was our west coast home for two weeks while visiting our daughter. It provided all the amenities that are needed and the location to downtown Arcata was great! The town offers good walking trails along the bay and the beer breweries are many. Your access to the redwoods parks is plentiful and the beaches are inviting. We would definitely rent this cottage again and hope to return soon.
Thanks P.C. for your stellar review of Arcata Stay's Rose Court Cottage. It was a delight to meet you and your husband and host your 2 week stay. I am glad you enjoyed our location and garden and close proximity to your daughter just a couple of doors down the street. We hope to see you again during a future visit to the incredible redwood coast. Kindly.......Christy for Arcata Stay
Location
Arcata is located just 7 miles north of Eureka and less than 40 minutes drive to both southern and northern State and National Redwood Parks, home to the tallest trees in the world. Enjoy majestic redwood groves, miles of pristine coastline, Humboldt Bay, a famous wildlife refuge, and a lively town square in arty, progressive Arcata, which is also home to Humboldt State University.
Between scenic Humboldt Bay and forested hills, our town is a popular destination for visitors to the redwoods and is the ideal 'home base' from which to take recreational day trips or attend events on the Arcata Plaza, including the Kinetic Sculpture Race, Oyster Festival, Pastels On The Plaza, North Country Fair, Arts Alive, and Saturday Farmers Market.
Within a 15-30 minute drive from Arcata, visit Old Town Eureka's Victorian Heritage District, the Victorian Village of Ferndale, or the quaint fishing village of Trinidad, Trinidad Head, beaches, and Patrick's Point State Park.
