Beautiful and peaceful location

  • 5 of 5

My husband and I stayed at The Sugar Shack for our anniversary late in September. The location was perfect and exactly what we were looking for! The house was exactly as pictured and had everything we needed to enjoy our stay.

We went down to the private dock to catch some crabs and had fun with it. There was some recent rain so the path to the dock was mucky and you may want to bring a pair of boots depending on the time of year and weather.

Julie was great to work with and very responsive to our needs during the stay. Overall we had a great stay and hope to return in the future!

2nd year in a row visiting- just Fantastic

  • 5 of 5

My husband and i stayed here the week of Aug 6 - Aug 13 2016. Again- just a most beautiful place- so nice and quiet- and lots to do nearby. We had our small dog with us also- she loved it. We had a problem with our wifi hot spot- Julie the owner- came right out and bought a new one and showed us how to run it, my husband needed it because he does his business from his laptop. I noticed that the grass was cut- making it easier to go to the private beach and the docks.

The house is def stacked with all paper goods, and pots, pans. Just would like to see 2 or 3 kitchen towels, as I had to bring my own. Soap also.

Again- you will not be disappointed in this beaustiful secluded cottage.

Relaxing and family friendly

  • 4 of 5

The ideal place for solitude and relaxation. Stayed here with our family of five and two dogs and would stay here again. Place was clean and had what we needed. Extra bed was great for the kids. Loved the views all throughout the day- never disappointed. Make sure to bring your camera! Saw lots of birds, turtles, deer, and even dolphins one morning. Neighborhood next to the property is great for morning runs/walks. Kids were able to play all around the house without worrying who else was around- we brought boots for them to not have to worry about the mud/water on their shoes. Excellent spot for kayaking and a shallow draft boat if you plan on using the dock. Easy drive to all of the beaches but the location of the house allows you to leave the crowds behind at the end of the day. Owner was very easy to contact with any questions.

stunning cottage with amazing view and privacy

  • 5 of 5

We were fortunate enough to find this property kind of last minute (as far as booking summer vacations in July goes) that had availability during our last minute vacation week...and that would also accommodate our dog. The property is exactly as described and shown in the excellent photo's. It is private and the house is immaculate. When we go away on vacation....we are looking to get away from the hustle and bustle....we want privacy and a view. This house has that. We spent countless hours on the screened in porch (my favorite spot at the cottage). We took our aqua pod out on the bay crabbing. We crabbed from the dock and caught nearly 30 large male crabs with our hand lines. SO FUN! And they were so good LOL. We purchased a 7 day fishing/crabbing/clamming license....but husband never did catch a fish....but it's all good. The path to the dock is quite mucky....but we knew that it would be and both brought our rubber boots. I'm rather particular about where the dog swims...so he didn't get to go swimming...mainly due to the path to get to the little beach being mucky....and how dirty he would get....and the sharp mussel/critter shells in the water. Next time I will bring him some dog boots.

The community near this property is nice....shopping, liqueur stores, restaurants all nearby. We only ventured out to eat once...much preferring to stay at the cottage. We were lucky to see a pretty rainbow....we watched turtles come up on the property to lay eggs....and watching the birds. We also got to see the deer one night walk thru.

A few things that I would have liked to have had at the house were.....more dish towels. There was only 1. There were no dishrags, just sponges.

There were plenty of bath towels and beach towels, but no wash rags. A swiffer wet jet would be helpful too. I know we are on vacation but I do like to clean up while we are staying anywhere. There are PLENTY of dishes and pots and pans and plastic containers. But if you want to cook a large amount of crabs....bring your own pot. I have a large lobster pot that I always bring. I also bring an electric skillet for cooking breakfast and frying crabs. We wished the bed in the main bedroom was a King. I could not figure out the wifi jetpack or even get it to turn on....so ended up running out of data...but that's no big deal to me. Julie was awesome to work with and I highly recommend this property!

Great Rental!

  • 5 of 5

The view is unbeatable and Julie was extremely responsive. The house was clean and exactly as advertised. One note that you may find helpful, is that there is a big table on the covered/inside deck that seats 8 people that was not pictured when we looked at the pictures of the house. This got a lot of use. We also ate crabs from the dock a few nights. Next year I will try to remember my wellies since depending on the time of day the crab retrieval can be wet and mucky. The only recommendation that I have would be to provide a baking dish or two. Luckily we had friends nearby so we borrowed theirs. Our party was all adults with a dog and the adults and dog had an equally terrific time. We hope to make it back next year!
