Tucked away in the exclusive Anse Chastanet / Jade Mountain area of Soufriere, La Batterie villa offers complete privacy. You will find your escape at this luxury villa surrounded by lush gardens, a tropical swimming pool with accompanying cabana, lily pond and spacious decks. Located 300 feet above the Caribbean Sea facing the infamous Pitons there is no shortage of breathtaking views, cool island breezes and awe.
Moving inside, the villa is constructed of native stone along with teak and mahogany woods. Built in traditional Caribbean construction, the house has louvered plantation style doors that open to take full advantage of its abundant natural and tropical landscape.
The house has three bedrooms each with king sized beds and ensuite washroom to allow guests maximum privacy and can comfortably sleep a group of six. Each bedroom has its own lounging patio along with wardrobe closets. The master bedroom overlooks the Caribbean Sea while the two other bedrooms overlook the villa gardens. The rooms can be made with single beds if requested in advance.
Additionally, the villa has a loft over the living room that can be used to sleep two however we would recommend that they be in their teenage years to allow maximum comfort. In addition to the three bedrooms, the house provides areas for group gathering and entertainment such as the elegant terra cotta living and dining rooms which face the sea. The living room opens up to a 40 foot open teak deck that highlights the beauty of the Pitons where guests can enjoy the breeze while watching the boats pass by. The dining room offers a table that seats a party of six and is a great spot for enjoying amazing Caribbean dinners that can be requested through the house cook,Stephanie, for a nominal fee. For a change of scenery, breakfast can be enjoyed down by the cabana where a table setting allows you to ease into your day while listening to the waterfall hit the pool.
Words could never properly prepare you for the beauty that is Saint Lucia – come experience La Batterie and elevate your vacation to the next level!
We had a magical time this week! St. Lucia is an amazing island and the people were so wonderful. Your home was equally as amazing. The attention to detail was the best...the staff including Cynthia, Terri, BK, Marylin and Clavie made our stay unforgettably perfect. Given your professionalism, attention to detail, staff and magical home, we plan to return in the near future! (10 year anniversary is not far off!!)My deepest thanks for sharing your home and making our anniversary so special!
We have rented houses throughout the Caribbean and LaBatterie is the most amazing place we have ever stayed. First, the views are unbelievable. Sunrises and Sunsets with the Pitons are fantastic. We had such a terrific week I can’t say enough. Right from the beginning when we reserved the villa, the owners, Michael and Jennifer were extremely helpful and responsive. I barely had my email completed and they had already returned with information and suggestions
The villa is outfitted with everything you could need, including converters for our US computer and outlets we could use to charge our phones. The Wifi worked extremely well, which is amazing for the Caribbean.
The staff as has been mentioned are wonderful in every possible way. The villa was always clean and an abundance of fresh towels available. We took advantage of the wonderful cooking of Stephanie and she made our dinners every night. After a day out and about we were happy to stay in for dinner. We had fish creole, chicken roti, grilled chicken, grilled fish with coconut rice - her cooking was definitely 5 star. She also did whatever grocery shopping that we needed so we didn’t have to bother to go to the store.
Although we didn’t go out to dinner, we had lunch twice at Fedos in town on our way back from our adventures and we were lucky to have Clavie join us one time, and Terry and Marcus (another driver) join us for lunch on the second day. We had traditional local meals and for 6 of us we spent US$50.
Clavie drove us wherever we wanted to go- we were so grateful not to be driving. Not only because it was treacherous, but we never would have found many of the places. We loved the hike up Tet Paul Nature Trail with the amazing views. One day we got Terry to take us on a hike (4 hours total) to the Edmond Forest Reserve where we were hoping to see the St Lucia Parrot. It happened to pour rain the whole time we were there and it was very wet and muddy but we still enjoyed it. The next day, one of our party who is a birder went back up to the Forest Reserve with Terry and found the Parrot and the St Lucia Oriole.
We spent several days on the beach at Anse Mamin which was beautiful and the little grill restaurant there on the beach has fabulous burgers and fries. We also snorkeled at Anse Chastenet which was pretty good.
Don’t even consider any other place besides LaBatterie. The absolute perfect place for a family vacation.
We had a wonderful time on holiday. The views were amazing. Completely incredible!
The staff were all wonderful – Stephanie cooked for us most days and it was delicious. The villa was very clean everyday. The staff were lovely about doing a bit of shopping for us and bringing it up for us. Everything at the villa worked and was well extremely well maintained. We went to the beach at Anse Mamin and loved almost having it to ourselves and we got a boat to sugar beach which was a fun experience. We really loved our stay and we're very glad we had picked this villa over a hotel or other villas. Thank you so much for all your help, we were seriously impressed with your response times on all our queries. We hope that we are able to make it back next year!
The location of La Batterie Villa is the initial Wow Factor. After settling into the villa, the experience rises past that initial response to one of deep appreciation for the staff who support your daily needs while there and their culture and history. They are the jewels of St Lucia. The history of the Villa and its location are steeped literally upon the edge of the Soufrierre volcanic cauldron enriching ones understanding of the geologic formation that is the Carribbean and its part in the continually evolving story of planet Earth.
The owners of this property are to be applauded for their generosity to others in sharing this property with the world and in supporting the employment of the persons of Soufrierre whose life stories are entwined with it. Much appreciation to them!!!!
“Our vacation in St. Lucia was absolutely amazing but it couldn't have been as great if he we had stayed anywhere else but La Batterie. The villa was stunning and the view was breathtaking! It's located on a hill over Soufriere overlooking the beautiful Pitons so it has the best view in St. Lucia. It was also close to everything that we wanted to see: sulphur springs, volcano, botanical gardens, scuba diving, snorkeling, you name it. The best part about the villa was the people. I cannot say enough good things about the staff. Clavie, the driver, became a very good friend of our family and we're still in touch after coming back to the states. I am not exaggerating when I say he knows everyone in town. He got us into places for private tours during off hours because he knew the workers. I highly recommend using him as the driver for your entire trip. Stephanie, the head housekeeper, is an amazing cook! We skipped restaurants just so we could have her food. All the staff was amazing! Terry even helped us make bowls out of the calabash fruit that we picked. Since we went in off season, we were stuck in a tropical storm while on the island but BK, the security guard, stayed with us through the night when we lost power and even walked with us, along with Stephanie, down to Anse Chastnet in the morning because cars weren't able to come through yet. Just amazing people! The hosts, Mike and Jennifer, communicated really well. They answered all of our questions and sent extremely detailed information about our stay and gave us recommendations of places and companies to use while there. I also cannot thank them enough for their kindness and generosity during the storm since we had to stay an extra day because our flights were canceled. The stay at La Batterie was so memorable that we plan to come back next year and stay there again. Do not look anywhere for your perfect stay in St. Lucia. Book this place now! It is a gem. ”
This place is magnificent. I do not have one bad thing to say about the property or the staff on sight. Clavie (the driver) was incredible and helped out so much. He basically knows everyone in town and was able to hook us up with the right people to do personal tours. Terri provided us with fresh ground spices and coffee. Stephanie and her staff made some great meals for us and picked up some groceries for us on her way up so we didn't miss a beat of the beautiful view. Our group went up to Jade Mountain resort for lunch one day and it was spectacular. It's definitely on the pricey side but worth a visit just to see the view and the unusual architecture of the property. Anse Chastanet is a very steep walk down the hill about 10 minutes and Anse Mamin is another 5 minute (flat) walk around the waters edge. The walk up the hill is pretty difficult and should be taken with caution. I'm sure Clavie would be happy to pick you up if you give him enough warning. I did the walk in flip flops but I would not recommend it for elderly or physically unfit individuals. We were also concerned about not having air conditioned in the 90 degree heat, but it really doesn't matter. We all slept soundly as there are ceiling fans and floor fans provided. I highly recommend this property.
Every aspect of our stay was beyond our expectations, from the property itself, to the views, to the extremely prompt and helpful communication with the owners, to the wonderful staff.
If you are considering a visit to St. Lucia, I strongly recommend spending part of your time at La Batterie in the Soufriere area. It is more relaxed and more remote than the north, but with incredible access to the natural wonders of the island. We had our three teenage daughters with us, and they loved it, too!
The staff were all amazing - Stephanie cooked two wonderful and authentic St. Lucian dinners for us (incl. working around some dietary restrictions like Celiac's and some food alergies). Terry brought us some local coffee and spices. Clavie, BK and Marilyn were wonderful, too.
A few words about the area - we snorkeled at both Anse Chastanet and Sugar Beach. The latter, located on a beach between the Pitons, was a bit better, but both are easily accessible. Both resorts have beaches that are "technically" public, but neither make you feel very welcome as a guest (though you can sit in designated areas off to the side, and you can purchase drinks from the bar). There is plenty of hiking in the area, and we also enjoyed a great evening at Orlando's restaurant (you will know Orlando's as about the last point of paved road before you ascent the rocky road to La Batterie Villa :-) As for mosquitos - yes, they are present, but the staff provides coils that last several hours, and combined with repellent and the bed netting, we had no serious problems.
Just a wonderful visit, and we hope to return again!
