Description

Photos and Description of this 3 bedroom holiday villa in Mamin - La Batterie Villa, Soufriere

Villa, 3 Bedrooms + Loft, 3 Baths, (Sleeps 8)

Tucked away in the exclusive Anse Chastanet / Jade Mountain area of Soufriere, La Batterie villa offers complete privacy. You will find your escape at this luxury villa surrounded by lush gardens, a tropical swimming pool with accompanying cabana, lily pond and spacious decks. Located 300 feet above the Caribbean Sea facing the infamous Pitons there is no shortage of breathtaking views, cool island breezes and awe.

Moving inside, the villa is constructed of native stone along with teak and mahogany woods. Built in traditional Caribbean construction, the house has louvered plantation style doors that open to take full advantage of its abundant natural and tropical landscape.

The house has three bedrooms each with king sized beds and ensuite washroom to allow guests maximum privacy and can comfortably sleep a group of six. Each bedroom has its own lounging patio along with wardrobe closets. The master bedroom overlooks the Caribbean Sea while the two other bedrooms overlook the villa gardens. The rooms can be made with single beds if requested in advance.

Additionally, the villa has a loft over the living room that can be used to sleep two however we would recommend that they be in their teenage years to allow maximum comfort. In addition to the three bedrooms, the house provides areas for group gathering and entertainment such as the elegant terra cotta living and dining rooms which face the sea. The living room opens up to a 40 foot open teak deck that highlights the beauty of the Pitons where guests can enjoy the breeze while watching the boats pass by. The dining room offers a table that seats a party of six and is a great spot for enjoying amazing Caribbean dinners that can be requested through the house cook,Stephanie, for a nominal fee. For a change of scenery, breakfast can be enjoyed down by the cabana where a table setting allows you to ease into your day while listening to the waterfall hit the pool.

Words could never properly prepare you for the beauty that is Saint Lucia – come experience La Batterie and elevate your vacation to the next level!

Perfect family vacation! Coming back next year!

  • 5 of 5

“Our vacation in St. Lucia was absolutely amazing but it couldn't have been as great if he we had stayed anywhere else but La Batterie. The villa was stunning and the view was breathtaking! It's located on a hill over Soufriere overlooking the beautiful Pitons so it has the best view in St. Lucia. It was also close to everything that we wanted to see: sulphur springs, volcano, botanical gardens, scuba diving, snorkeling, you name it. The best part about the villa was the people. I cannot say enough good things about the staff. Clavie, the driver, became a very good friend of our family and we're still in touch after coming back to the states. I am not exaggerating when I say he knows everyone in town. He got us into places for private tours during off hours because he knew the workers. I highly recommend using him as the driver for your entire trip. Stephanie, the head housekeeper, is an amazing cook! We skipped restaurants just so we could have her food. All the staff was amazing! Terry even helped us make bowls out of the calabash fruit that we picked. Since we went in off season, we were stuck in a tropical storm while on the island but BK, the security guard, stayed with us through the night when we lost power and even walked with us, along with Stephanie, down to Anse Chastnet in the morning because cars weren't able to come through yet. Just amazing people! The hosts, Mike and Jennifer, communicated really well. They answered all of our questions and sent extremely detailed information about our stay and gave us recommendations of places and companies to use while there. I also cannot thank them enough for their kindness and generosity during the storm since we had to stay an extra day because our flights were canceled. The stay at La Batterie was so memorable that we plan to come back next year and stay there again. Do not look anywhere for your perfect stay in St. Lucia. Book this place now! It is a gem. ”

Gorgeous!!

  • 5 of 5

This place is magnificent. I do not have one bad thing to say about the property or the staff on sight. Clavie (the driver) was incredible and helped out so much. He basically knows everyone in town and was able to hook us up with the right people to do personal tours. Terri provided us with fresh ground spices and coffee. Stephanie and her staff made some great meals for us and picked up some groceries for us on her way up so we didn't miss a beat of the beautiful view. Our group went up to Jade Mountain resort for lunch one day and it was spectacular. It's definitely on the pricey side but worth a visit just to see the view and the unusual architecture of the property. Anse Chastanet is a very steep walk down the hill about 10 minutes and Anse Mamin is another 5 minute (flat) walk around the waters edge. The walk up the hill is pretty difficult and should be taken with caution. I'm sure Clavie would be happy to pick you up if you give him enough warning. I did the walk in flip flops but I would not recommend it for elderly or physically unfit individuals. We were also concerned about not having air conditioned in the 90 degree heat, but it really doesn't matter. We all slept soundly as there are ceiling fans and floor fans provided. I highly recommend this property.

Incredible property, incredible people!

  • 5 of 5

Every aspect of our stay was beyond our expectations, from the property itself, to the views, to the extremely prompt and helpful communication with the owners, to the wonderful staff.

If you are considering a visit to St. Lucia, I strongly recommend spending part of your time at La Batterie in the Soufriere area. It is more relaxed and more remote than the north, but with incredible access to the natural wonders of the island. We had our three teenage daughters with us, and they loved it, too!

The staff were all amazing - Stephanie cooked two wonderful and authentic St. Lucian dinners for us (incl. working around some dietary restrictions like Celiac's and some food alergies). Terry brought us some local coffee and spices. Clavie, BK and Marilyn were wonderful, too.

A few words about the area - we snorkeled at both Anse Chastanet and Sugar Beach. The latter, located on a beach between the Pitons, was a bit better, but both are easily accessible. Both resorts have beaches that are "technically" public, but neither make you feel very welcome as a guest (though you can sit in designated areas off to the side, and you can purchase drinks from the bar). There is plenty of hiking in the area, and we also enjoyed a great evening at Orlando's restaurant (you will know Orlando's as about the last point of paved road before you ascent the rocky road to La Batterie Villa :-) As for mosquitos - yes, they are present, but the staff provides coils that last several hours, and combined with repellent and the bed netting, we had no serious problems.

Just a wonderful visit, and we hope to return again!

Fantastic Vacation

  • 5 of 5

Our family stayed at La Batterie during the last week of June 2016. We had a wonderful vacation and the villa was a big part of it. The grounds are beautiful and well maintained, and the house itself is lovely and has a real island feel. When you walk in your eyes are immediately drawn to the incredible view of the water and the Pitons. Even after a week it was hard to believe how spectacular the view is.

The pool is another amazing feature of this home. Our family enjoyed spending time at the pool so much that sometimes it was difficult pulling ourselves away to go explore the island. The setting is so lush and peaceful, you could not help but feel completely relaxed.

The house's staff were terrific- Stephanie, Marilyn, Clavie, Terry and BK were all friendly and helpful and really seem to care about making their guests' stay comfortable and enjoyable. We highly recommend having Stephanie cook at least a few meals - she is a great cook and prepares excellent local food. Its also a big help to be able to have Stephanie buy groceries for the home. Together Stephanie and Marilyn kept the house spotless. Having Clavie as a driver was a great experience. He was always responsive and available, and freely shared his knowledge about the island. BK the night watchman always greeted us with a smile when he came for his shift, and always made sure to check on us to see if we were doing ok or needed anything.

If you enjoy nature hikes, we would definitely recommend having Terry the gardener take you on a rain forest hike. Terry has a wealth of knowledge about the local vegetation and the various fruits and vegetables and spices that can be found there. Plus, it's really good exercise!

The house is well situated in Soufriere. The beach at Anse Chastenet is about a 10 minute walk downhill ( be aware though that the walk back uphill is quite steep.) The beach itself is small but lovely, and the restaurant that is part of the resort is very good. If you're looking at any organized tours, you'll notice that most of them spend much of their time at the attractions in and around Soufriere.

Finally, Mike and Jennifer, the owners of the home, were great to work with. They stay in touch with you in the weeks leading up to your trip to help you plan, and are extremely open and responsive to questions.

Overall, we couldn't have been happier with our vacation and with our stay at La Batterie.

If there were more stars, I would add them.

  • 5 of 5

My best friend and I decided that we needed a trip away from the hustle of work and family and we found paradise at La Batterie. La Batterie was much more than we expected. The Villa is beautiful, open and has every amenity that a person could want, plus more. The gardens, tenderly cared for by Terry, are gorgeous. He takes such humble pride in his art. When my friend asked him if he did all this, he slightly laughed and said: “I guess so.”

What made the trip so relaxing for us was the pool, which was deep and cool, the unreal views, and the conversations we had with Stephanie, Marilyn, BK and Terry. The immense pleasure of learning about their families, the culture, and politics of St. Lucia, along with traditions, was a highlight of the trip. Terry brought us coffee from his farm to take back to our families. Stephanie’s laugh is infectious and was the most gracious hostess. I almost traded my ticket with Marilyn so I could stay and she could visit the states – ah if we only could. BK was a joy. His presence allowed Kim and me to relax in the evenings knowing that we had BK looking out for us.

I would highly recommend Clavie meeting future guests at the airport to drive to the villa, even if renting a car. There is a rental car company in Soufriere that will deliver a car to the villa the evening after arrival. Even though there is only one main road that circles the island, Kim and I managed to become very lost and a 45-minute drive became three hours. We arrived at the villa tired, full of adventurous stories and laughter, but we missed our first view of the Pitons and the ocean since it was dark. We did have a chance to see parts of the island that we wouldn’t have seen, but the darker it became, the more stressful our adventure became. I’m not sure how Kim and I would do on Amazing Race.

Michael and Jennifer were a joy to plan with throughout the months before the trip. I even emailed a question during the trip and received a response within minutes. The kind respect that Stephanie, Terry, Marilyn and BK has for Michael and Jennifer is evident in their conversations. The fact that they consider them family means so much and gave me more of a sense of welcome.

Thank you so much for a relaxing, wonderful vacation!

A touch of heaven

  • 5 of 5

This was our second trip to La Batterie Villa. My husband and I enjoyed it so much the first time we just had to return again. The staff was just wonderful and friendly. The cook Stephanie makes these amazing potatoes that can go with almost every meal. We could not get enough of them. The view from the main deck of the Pitons was breathtaking. You will have to go far to surpass it. The salt water pool was super and the grounds well maintained. Both of us cannot wait to return.
