|Minimum Stay||2 nights|
Like its sister cabin, 'Smoke Rise', 'The Cove' is located in the Sequoyah Village area of Laurel Valley in Townsend.
From the time you enter the drive, surrounded by huge, moss covered limestone boulders, you will know you've arrived at a very special place. Never before have we seen a setting so perfectly designed by Nature to embrace a small cabin.
You'll find high quality decor, linens, towels, and everything you could want to make 'The Cove' your perfect home away from home in the Great Smoky Mountains.
It is our goal to create a tranquil and serene setting that will help our guests to unplug and to enjoy the spirit of the mountains and the wildlife that lives here. Don't worry, we've provided TV, Wi-Fi and Phone, just in case you can't give up the gadgets totally.
'The Cove' is decorated in a primitive theme to match the beautiful interior of hand-hewn logs. Nothing says 'mountain cabin' like a warm evening by a crackling fire; so, during the season, enjoy the warmth and sounds of the real, wood-burning stacked-stone fireplace.
The kitchen has all the comforts of home, with everything you might need to cook full meals - or to nuke a burger.
If you love to grill out, we have furnished you with a gas grill for those steaks you get at the local IGA.
The huge indoor jetted tub will pamper you before you slip into the king-sized bed for a great night's sleep. Luxury linens, towels, pillows and blankets are all supplied. There's a walk-in closet to store the extra 'stuff' you brought along.
'The Cove' offers a park-like setting, surrounded by moss-covered limestone boulder outcroppings like those along the Little River in the Park. Catch a glimpse of 'Woody' woodpecker, or a red-tailed hawk as it navigates through the hardwood trees surrounding the cabin. Be on the lookout for the occasional black bear that wanders through the property.
'The Cove' is VERY motorcycle friendly! The access is easy and paved. Plenty of flat driveway parking. If you're a rider, you'll find Townsend to be a paradise. Every year, thousands visit the area to take advantage of these mountains and the day trips they offer and 'The Cove' offers a terrific home base for these trips. From 'The Cove', you're only a few short miles from the Cades Cove entrance to the National Park. While staying here, the Park is your playground. No matter what you like to do during the day, we hope you'll enjoy retreating to peace and warmth of 'The Cove' at day's end.
It is our hope that you will come to consider 'The Cove' YOUR home in the Great Smoky Mountains. We hope to see you soon.
If The Cove is not available for the dates you are looking for, see also Smoke Rise VRBO or Wildwood, our newest cabin addition just added October 2015.
We arrived in the Smokies over six years ago. Our first trip was a fly fishing adventure. Until then, my only Smokies adventure had been Gatlinburg and Pigeon Forge. Townsend proved to be an oasis in the mountains. The setting is serene and peaceful, and without the trappings of the more recognized areas. Trout weren't the only things hooked that weekend --- we were, as well.
Just one year later, we arrived in Townsend. It took a year to make it happen; but we were determined to make the Smokies our home. We surely cannot imagine living anywhere else. Waking every morning to the sunrise over the mountains and the sights and sounds of the birds and other wildlife is an unbelievable experience. We have, in the years after our arrival, started a real estate firm. It has been our goal to educate others about the wonders of living in this beautiful place and, if the fit is right, to help them with their goal to move here permanently or to find the perfect getaway home in the Smokies.
Cyndie Cornelius purchased this cabin in 2014
We had purchased 'Smoke Rise' in 2013 and had a ball redecorating, painting, furnishing and finding just the right things to make it the warmest and most inviting cabin anywhere around. We apparently accomplished our goal, as 'Smoke Rise' became incredibly successful. We really didn't want another cabin. We thought one was enough.
But there was one other in the area that we thought that if it ever came on the market, we would consider buying it because of its uniquely beautiful setting. The huge moss-covered limestone rock outcroppings were so unusual and the acre and a half lot provided privacy and room to roam. And 'Smoke Rise' was renting so well that we were having to turn people away. Unbelievably, it did come up for sale and we couldn't resist. Structurally, they are identical, and we have done 'The Cove' very similarly to 'Smoke Rise'. We go back and forth as to which is our favorite. They are similar; but each has its own distinct personality.
Stay in both and let us know which you like best.
It is our mission to maintain our cabins in a manner that will never disappoint. We are VERY local owners and we keep a watchful eye over our retreats. We have stayed in them ourselves, just to be sure that we've not overlooked anything guests may need to make their stay perfect.
We want you to consider 'Smoke Rise' , 'The Cove' and Wildwood your home away from home in the Great Smoky Mountains.
From the moment we entered "The Cove" we knew this was gonna be a great vacation. The cabin was very clean and inviting. Felt like home away from home...Would highly recommend this property to anyone looking to get away from the grind that the world can put us through!
Properly was amazing the cabin was beautiful and in great shape the pictures were 100% true advertising
We came for a short weekend but this cabin was perfect for my husband and I. We are already trying to decide when to come back. We only had one small hiccup but it was resolved quickly. Guardshack had no record of our stay when we returned in one night so had to provide proof of stay to get back in. The cabin was perfect; very clean and beautiful.
We spent 3 nights at The Cove and it was wonderful. Our only disappointment was not being able to burn the fireplace due to the severe drought and possibility of fires.
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at The Cove. It was very cozy and the private setting was beautiful. We wish we'd had time to stay a few more days.
Townsend, Tennessee is a gateway community to Great Smoky Mountains National Park. Visitors to Townsend enjoy the Peaceful Side of the Smokies. Townsend is rich in wild life - most visitors come with hope of seeing the ever popular Black Bear that inhabit the Park and surrounding areas. 'The Cove' is nestled into the woods and is extremely private. Surrounded by huge, moss-covered boulders, this is a setting like no other. You'll feel you have stepped into the Park and you can anticipate the possibility of a critter sighting. There is an abundance of wildlife, including bear, deer, wild turkey, hawks and owls - just to name a few. You can spend your days watching critters at the cabin, or in Cades Cove. You can hike the trails, ride your bike, take photographs, fly fish or tube down the Little River. There are several tubing providers on the river. Most outfitters will hook you up with a tube and river access. You can float down the river for an hour of so. They will pick you up and bus you back to the starting point, only to do it all again. What a way to cool off on hot summer days!
If you ride a motorcycle, Townsend is the BOMB! There are dozens of day-rides from Townsend. One of our favorites is to leave Townsend and travel through the Park to Gatlinburg. Take a right at Sugarlands Visitors Center and you can ride to Cherokee, North Carolina in just an hour or so. Enjoy lunch and head back...time to burn. Don't forget to stop at Newfound Gap and Clingman's Dome. DON'T leave without your camera!
The Foothills Parkway is closer to home. Only a couple of miles from Townsend, this ride takes you across the ridge of the mountain with spectacular overlooks, to Chilhowee Lake. At the end of the Parkway, take a left and you're on the Tail of the Dragon --- 318 curves in 11 miles --- not for the faint of heart. If you're not up to that, take a right and visit the Highway 129 Harley shop. A longer ride will take you to Tellico Plains for lunch at the Tellico Plains Bakery, a great place to enjoy a meal before heading back to Townsend or across the Cherohala Skyway. I could spend hours talking about this; so just ask when you call. We may go with you.
'The Cove' is motorcycle friendly, with easy access and paved all the way.
A short, 30-minute ride from Townsend will land you in Pigeon Forge. A great place to visit but NOT the quiet side by any stretch of imagination. It's the center for entertainment and shopping in the Smokies. Home to the Tanger Outlets, countless restaurants and entertainment spots and the ever popular Dollywood.
Come join us in Townsend! On the Peaceful Side of the Smokies. We look forward to hearing from you.
