This approx. 2000 sq. ft. just renovated and artistically designed 3-br row house unit is located on one of the most private and quiet street in the historical District of Mount Pleasant (right by the east entrance to the National Zoo, 10-12 min walk to metro).

Convenient to Convention Center (2 metro stations away), AIRP (S2/S4 direct buses short walking distance from us), Adams Morgan entertainment zone with restaurants 7 min walk from us, Dupont, Kalorama, Zoo also within walking distance.

Original cathedral ceilings with beams and arches carefully preserved over the last century combined with eclectic art-deco elements, such as original art and lighting, tile murals and wooden decorative elements added in the process of recent major renovation, recreate the authentic style of the house built originally built in 1917. Numerous skylights fill the house with bright light.

Fireplace available for use in January-March, creating unique winter lodge atmosphere for your stay.

The home features 3 spacious bedrooms on the second floor: the master bedroom with a vaulted ceiling overlooking the historic neighborhood, tall 3-sectional windows in the second bedroom and a spacious third bedroom ( both overlook the small garden in the back of the house).

The first level of the home has a generously sized living room with a fireplace, a banquet-sized dining room with beautifully refinished original cherry-wood trim on the ceilings, a large breakfast/family room with a large bay window and terracotta tile floors (the first level of the house looks like a huge apartment by itself which accommodates 2 guests!) Because of the 1st floor layout (not one living area but 3 large separate rooms, one with a sliding door and a half bath), the house can sleep up to 8 people. There are two fully renovated two full bathrooms with marble floors, murals and Grohe fixtures on the second floor with skylights; a third half-bath on the first level. A modern kitchen with granite counters, marble backsplash and stainless appliances with all necessary equipment opens into the breakfast area. The breakfast area extends onto a vast summer terrace/deck/garden in the backyard. The house also features designer lighting throughout, wide halls on both levels and plenty of storage space. Street parking. Washer and dryer on site. Wireless internet, Netflix capability, cable TV with HBO. Hardwood throughout.

Renters staying for longer term will be able to obtain residential parking permit for our zone. The damage deposit for stays longer than 20 days is $400.

Kindly notify us immediately of any damages/malfunctions discovered upon arrival, in order for us to ensure proper maintenance and good quality services for all future guests. The guest is responsible to the host for any damages that may arise as a result of his stay according to vrbo policy.

The basement area is not included in the rental.

Super clean and great neighborhood

We had a very nice 3-day stay here. A beautiful row home and friendly neighbors. Just as pictured, super clean, and plenty of room for the 5 adults and 2 kids in our party. It was well-stocked except for dishwasher detergent and paper towels, which was most likely an oversight. It's an uphill, 10 minute hike to the Metro station - a cab ride to the Mall is a reasonable $20. We would definitely stay here again.

Owner's Response: Thank you for your feedback, we are glad you had a nice stay. We provide disposable items like paper towels or detergent for the first few days of stay. Guests coming for longer term use their own disposable supplies. From metro station it's only 2-3 metro stops to the Mall. For larger groups the cost of an uber ride to the mall will be comparable with metro ride. Look forward to your future visits.

Family of five

It was nice to just walk over to the zoo from the townhouse. Two 16 yr olds and an 8 yr old loved it. It was nice to use the zoo as a walk thru while sight seeing. From zoo walked to National Cathedral then back thru zoo to return to apt. It was nice to have relatives (5) who live nearby over for dinner, and not have to worry about space during our meal or feeling rushed as in a restaurant. The property is a three bedroom two-floor row house with a nice deck off the kitchen. Great light. Comfy blankets. Plush towels. Booked last minute, very accommodating. Street parking was not a hassle, owner gives residential parking permit.”

Extremely Clean Home & Easy Stay

The home was extremely clean. The owners were accommodating to my early check in request &

responded promptly to questions about parking & item locations in the home. Although the house was extremely nice the beds in 2/3 bedrooms were extremely uncomfortable. One bed felt extremely similar to laying on a table. HARD! Ridiculously hard. The other bed (two twin beds pushed together I assume) were tough to sleep on & the railing edges between the beds caused several scratches to my legs while moving through the bedroom. The home was located in close proximity to Washington attractions, parking was a challenge and walking to the metro was a breeze. Overall, my family felt safe at the home.

This is unfortunate that you felt like leaving a 3* review to our extremely well-maintained property after your requests for early check-in and parking permits on short notice were all granted. We encourage efficient communication, as many issues can be resolved during the stay. Our beds are medium hardness, but we also can provide mattress toppers upon request. Most guests find parking in the proximity easily, unless they arrive very late at night. We will add a picture to the listing showing how plentiful parking is. We are a vacation rental with higher management and turnover costs than a regular hotel network. At the same time, we provide higher price/value ratio comparing to the area hotels. We hope our future guests will appreciate and understand that such minor incoveniences like convertible metal frames in fact offer them wider range of ndividual sleeping accommodaitons to families, comparing to a hotel fixed frame.

We had a great stay

The home was lovely, just a pictured. It was very clean and spacious. We had plenty of room for our 7 adults and 2 children. There was a crib for toddler. The owners did a wonderful job communicating with us and giving us all the information we needed. The location is good, walkable to the metro. From the airport you only have to take 1 metro line straight to the stop by the house. We took the metro to the National Mall, baseball park, Arlington cemetery and airport with no trouble at all. You do have to walk up a hill to get to the metro and this might be an issue for older visitors. There are places to eat close by and the zoo is about 2 blocks away. There is a 7-11 just up the hill. The bed in the master bedroom was very comfortable and all the linens were good quality. The beds in the secondary bedrooms were not very comfortable. There is a lovely deck out back but there isn't any furniture to sit on. It would be lovely if our family could have sat and visited in this nice outdoor space. Overall a very pleasant experience for our family. Thanks for the wonderful vacation.

Owner's Response: Thank you for the feedback. We noted the recommendation regarding beds; optional mattress toppers will be added for our future guests. We don't offer or advertise outside seating, in our attempt to limit outside dining and maintain the property deck insect- and pest-free. Pest control is an ongoing concern in central areas in all big US cities. We don't want to buzz our guests with requests to clean the backyard deck prior to check out, or charge exta cleaning fees. The kitchen seating area has a glass door that opens in the backyard, and has wall-to-ceiling glass wall to create the outside dining/seating feel.

The house was incredibly clean and well layed out. The location in Columbia Heights was fabulous. Close to Metro and the city, and really close to the zoo.

Ubber was a 10.00 ride, if you chose to use that. Very close to Reagan Airport.

Only complaint is the AC did not really cool the house very well and patio furniture would have been nice.

Owner's Response: Thank you for being our guests, and for your feedback. We are located in Mount Pleasant, a green historical neighborhood bordering with Columbia Heights, walking distance to metro and yet close to Rock Creek Park and the Zoo. Cooling in DC row homes with roofs is not the same as in hotels, but our system maintains 72 degrees temperature in hot days, which is comfortable for most travelers. AC shafts were still half closed after winter when you stayed, and as nobody contacted us, we didn't reopen them yet at that time. Our property doesn't offer outside dining or seating due to pest control warranty and property insurance requirements. The house dining area has wide glass windows and opens into patio, creating a "patio" feel. Look forward to hosting you in DC in the future!
