carlo odescalchi purchased this apartment in 1701
This property was bought by my family after one of his members Benedetto Odescalchi was elected as a Pope with the name of Innocenzo XI. Staying in my apartament means breathing Roman history.
Odescalchi's is in center of Rome and is a very quiet, bright, airy apartament. Most tourist locations are within walking distance. in 10 to 20 min. on foot you may reach the spanish steps, the Trevi Fountain, the Colosseum and the Pantheon.
Our group felt safe in this apartment. The property was clean and well-appointed with
amenities. The furnishings were a bit tired, but this did not detract from the overall
appearance and comfort of this roomy apartment. Most importantly, the location
was perfect - close to several of Rome's places of interest, restaurants, cafes,
mini-market, ATMs, Taxi stand, etc .
Our family of 8 had a wonderful time at this historical apartment. The location was amazing and as described so close to Trevi fountain we spent a lot of time in this area. It was also a great home base for other tours that we had booked. Be sure and walk into the church right across the street, it is not to be missed.
Our family of 6 adults stayed in Carlo's apartment a couple of weeks ago. Communication with the owner was simple and quick to book his apartment. It's location can't be beat! There are many lovely restaurants/tavernas within a 2-15 minute walk from the apartment. The apartment was large, pretty and clean upon arrival. I give it only 4 stars for the following reasons: The washing machine was broken and we were told it was being replaced the following day. It never came while we were visiting...It would have been nice to have another fan in the common area with the very hot weather that Rome experiences in the summer....Our family felt like intruders each time we left or entered the grounds of the palazzo. The only people who made us feel welcome were Ms. Odeschalchi, our neighbor, and the security guard. Other than those minor inconveniences, the apartment was lovely. Thank you, Carlo, for allowing our family to stay in your apartment for our short Roman holiday.
The apartment is ideally located for seeing the sights of Rome- you can walk to the Forum. It is beautiful and comfortable, nicely laid out to give everyone space, well equipped modern kitchen.
We had a wonderful visit, would definitely stay again and recommend to travelers.
Spent four nights here with my family of five. Apartment is huge and the property is beautiful. We definitely felt like were living in a 16th century palazzo with beautiful sculptures, grand stair cases, vaulted ceilings, and gated security. Upon arrival, our tour guide was even excited to see the property and happy to share the story of the well known Odescalchi family. The apartment itself was spacious, clean, and contained all the important necessities. The fresh water cooler was a nice perk to fill our bottles before heading out to explore. Location was close to sites, but in relatively quiet area which was nice. Carlo and Iryna were easy to work with and helped to meet all our needs. Overall, we had a great experience in this historic apartment and would highly recommend.
I guess I should have paid more attention to the history of this building and the Odeschalchi family before booking. During our visit, our independent tour guide made me aware of the history of the building along with the family. I don't want to misquote the facts so I will remain silent; however, I was very impressed. From a booking perspective, everything was flawless. Carlo and Iryna were both timely and very helpful. I would highly recommend staying at this one of a kind property. We were conveniently located within walking distance of all the key spots.
The best way to experience Rome is via walking. In this neighborhood there would rarely be a need for any other type of transportation, but if this is the case there are available and inexpensive taxies nearly everywhere in this fantasctic neighboorhood.
